  1. http://twinfalls.craigslist.org/grd/2618383988.html Wouldn't mind having the tractor. Rob
  2. Just another by-product of being "polically correct" to the world. Rob
  3. One of the most common causes of this symptom is a busted intercooler, leaking interconnecting hoses, and/or restricted air filters. After verifying you have a good air filter element, have someone hold the idle at or above 1500rpm while you spray the intercooler with soapy water and look for bubbles. I'm making the assumption the problem has started recently and not after someone has "monkey'd" around with the governor and/or injection calibration. I use the term monkey'd around as to not arouse randyp. Rob
  4. Positive ground radios are few and far between. I've seen polarity changing boxes in the aftermarket but cannot remember a vendor. Might do a google search for such. Rob
  5. What's that damned "motorboatin" sounds I keep hearing??? Rob
  6. I have an 855 Cummins that runs on NG at work. It is not turbocharged but is connected to a 400kw generator. Loud SOB too. Where the heads are normally bored for injectors, this one has spark plugs and a magneto where the injection pump normally is.
  7. She could bring me a cheesburger any day. Rob
  8. I've seen several driveshafts done that way and they are never even close to balanced. Damned strong however........ Rob
  9. The Pete is always at the forefront of the mindset. Why with it's inherent reputation of breaking down as much as possible, there is hardly room, or time to think of anything else. Rob
  10. Ptiman, or RO Stinger? Either one are really good units until you need parts that are proprietary. I have a hydro-cable crane on an IH R-190 chassis and it's damned hard to imagine not having something like it. Rob
  11. I'm gonna cart the 1300 that is on my 1980 R model up to the rebuilder next month when I visit my son. It is slow to build air and I wanna start to driving this one shortly. Rob
  12. Will a 501 slip on in place of the 500? I've never tried but have both styles. Rob
  13. The front frame of the RW "splays" outward under the cab. Cut the frame a foot behind the start of the splay, then graft another cutoff onto the stubs. Hide everything well and you will have no problems. Sometimes you will need to trim brackets, (such as fuel tank, battery boxes, etc.) but as Bad Dog stated, it will be thin and metalurgically stretched/fatigued so shouldn't be used again. Rob
  14. I can't work in the rain or snow. The sweetness runs off. Rob
  15. The bores wear a taper into them. You set the ring gap at the top, and it is wide at the bottom. It can work but is less than design criteria allows. Will probably have a short lifespan, or pass oil immediately negating your effort. Years ago I bored one using a faceplate on a lathe. Probably less expensive for a reman unit than the hassle would cost screwing around with it. Rob
  16. It will go in there with little problems but the front crossmember will need to be modified as the V8 engine is not as long. The 865 engine he currently has was never charge air cooled although it wouldn't hurt a thing to incorporate it into the intake system. Rob
  17. I wouldn't do that. Rerail it but the price is too steep to start with given the amount of work it requires. Rob
  18. I'm with Glenn on the frame stretch. Seen a lot of them that way. Using a 1/4" thick, 34" wide frame slides right over a standard 33.5" wide Mack frame. The original Mack frame looks to be nine inch rails where the addition is probably 10" which is very common. This truck was given enough overlap it will be strong. Weld it up solid and it's good to go. I would have probably notched the lower rail and tapered it up to meet with the underside of the existing Mack frame for appearance sake, but it would have added little strength. Rob
  19. You're gonna be hard pressed to find someone that can rebore the cylinders oversize due to the small bore. Rob
  20. I got room on the trailer and headed that way so freight would be cheap. You're in luck. And you know your trust can safely be placed in "ole Rob". Rob
  21. Ya know, since I didn't get the email to allow me to become a benefactor of the BMT website, I feel like I'm suffering the "Bent Over Factor" instead. Damn I'm sad. Rob
  22. Would two quarter wholes work for you? How about four eighth wholes? I have a wide ranging stock and can accomodate most requests within 24 hours. Rob
  23. Hey!! I got eight matching virgin "baldies" I can let you have a bit cheaper than $450.00. Hell, I'd take $499.99 and we'd be square. What are friends for????? Rob
