  1. Ok. I already know the answer but since you asked; How would you know? Rob
  2. Headed back out to the shop to weld up some cracks in the floor pan, and get rid of a floor pan hole for a shifter of some sort that no longer exists. Rob
  3. Prolly a 5.13 ratio with an overgear and 10.00X20 tires. It's easy enough to check if you can get the rears clear of the ground to rotate the tires. Rob
  4. I'd prolly go with a heavy spec'd truck with winches doing to "tugging". A lot of power can be had with eight wheels locked on solid ground and a hundred thousand, (or so) pounds of force exerted by a couple large winches. Easier on drivelines too. Rob

    JOB SPEECH

That should be an amendment to the constitution; Mandatory military service for our youth. They need to earn the right to the freedoms they enjoy. Rob
  6. Won't hurt anything except low end "grunt" and pulling power. My B67 will run right at 65mph in od with 5.77 rears. Good enough for me cause I can't run that fast unless "Momma" is after my ass again with her butcher knife, (I have nothing left to give). Rob
  7. Jamie is my helper and does very well. His references to me include, "with friends like you, I don't need no enemy's", and the consistent, "Fuck You Rob", and then there is the ever popular, "I only come here for the abuse", or "what did I do to deserve this bullshit". Rob
  8. Around the waistline, certainly. Available; sometimes. Rob
  9. Ask him to use new hardware especially the lock nuts. Rob
  10. Basically the same trans except the overdrive version, (nine speed overgear) is so close between fourth high and fifth low the usage is nil. You can split all five gears on a direct. I think I'm relaying that correctly. A lot depends on the gearing of the axles. I like the trans in my B67. Rob
  11. Bad thing about a fan running is the shielding gas is easily blown away from the weld zone. I did have a tube fan blowing into the cab forcing the smoke and fumes away. Really wasn't too bad. I've been down that road a few times and always have a quart of milk available when welding galvanized metal. Rob
  12. I thought it was Achmed Habib Abraham Sand and Gravel. Must be thinking of something else? Rob
  13. Dragged this old girl out of her sleeping stall. Figured we'd get a little done of the roof since it was so nice today. Stitched in about 18 inches of rain gutter, and a four foot section of a donor roof skin from a spare cab that is junk. The welding of galvanized steel it terrible smelling. Rob
  14. That is how a standby genset operates. Cold iron stop to 1800rpm as fast as it can get there! Rob
  15. Excellent behind a Thermodyne under 250hp. Very smooth transmission. Rob
  16. Fourth gear in the high range and fifth gear in the low range are very close. There is no practical use to shifting there. Upshift from fourth high, to fifth high. Rob
  17. The correct puller for that wheel looks like a large "C" clamp with a fork to fit around the steering jacket tube at the bottom. You turn the handle on the top bearing on the top threaded portion, and the lower part pulls the wheel free of the splines upward. Most times loosen the upper retaining nut to within about three threads. Place you knees under the wheel rim about 120 degrees apart and pull on the top of the rim with your hand while smacking the center section of the steering wheel through a block of wood with a mallet. Be certain to have a few threads of the retainer nut engaged as when the wheel lets loose of the splines, it will have some force behind it the nut needs to stop. Rob
  18. If the splines are tight you either have a worn clutch disc, worn input shaft to the trans, (probably twisted), or the wrong clutch disc. You should have about .005-.012 clearance in the input shaft splines to the clutch disc splines or things are really shot. Are you forcing this onto either part that is rusty? Rob
  19. She is getting ready to mix us all 7 & 7's after the Fetticinne Alfredo is done. The cook is sampling the dish now. Think it will turn out alright? Rob

    Relisted Mh-613

    Keep trying and Thanks! Rob
  21. I've installed many 24/24 spring brake chambers on 34,000, and 38,000# Mack axles. I'd try a different manufacturer of the cans as I've not seen one that wouldn't fit myself. Rob
  22. Can't attach, or delete posts every now and then. Rob
  23. Ernie, talk about a screaming Detroit: last evening I'm assembling a repair job in the shop just outside the overhead door. From a distance of about a mile, I hear the unmistakable sound of one of those things. Turns out about 3 minutes later, an older "Jimmy" passes the shop, (slowly) with a full load of corn on. I've seen the truck many times as it belongs to a near farmer and I could tell he was loaded by the lack of speed, and amount of shifting that was done!! Rob
  24. You can do a hell of a lot of work with a tractor like that. Is that a straight blade, or semi "U" shape? How bout the ripper, single, or three teeth? I think the cab is a later "add on" and I'd place it in the late 1980's to mid 1990's. I've dug out a lot of stumps with a D5B that looked just about like that but a bit smaller using the "tilt", and ripper. Rob
