  1. She is wearing her favorite "Going to see Rob" outfit. Rob
  2. One of several. Rob
  3. I'd just as soon file them off with a coarse wood rasp and then let him bleed. Rob
  4. Thanks Morgan, I need to pick up a new air line in Peoria this afternoon, and change the gasket, then she should be ready to ride again. After leaving the charger on the batteries overnight the engine started right up with less than a single complete rotation of the crankshaft and idled near perfect. Surprised me but I surprise easily. Going to try to make the show this weekend with my "Trusty, yet Crusty" Dodge and trailer. The jury is still out however. My grandaughter was finally released from the ICU yesterday and we brought her home. Three weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit has been difficult on the family. All appears to be fine with mother, (Nikki) and baby,(Kinley). This may be what keeps me here as we don't need to be far away for a few weeks. Rob
  5. Hi Steve and welcome to the site. Great bunch of guys here and you will fit right in with the trucks you mention. I like those B67's but I'm almost too large to fit inside the cab and be able to shut the driver's door. I'm not familiar with Morrison, IL. I know where a couple of cities/towns are located named similar, but not that one. If you're anyplace around Peoria, give me a call; 309-219-2070. I'm usually in the shop after 6:30pm this and next month. Rob
  6. No problem Ernie, I was able to read it without problems. Rob
  7. Hi Ernie, I learned that lesson on a brand new 1974 Chevy pickup. Guy brought the truck in for it's first oil change, I drained the oil without problems. When installing the oil filter the telephone rang and I got up to answer it. Long story short is that I never put the drain plug back into the oil pan and five quarts of oil later when the "slick" is encasing my tennis shoes, I noticed it. You know how hard it was to spend 79 cents a quart at the autoparts store to replace it? I made $1.75 an hour back then!! My cruisin was done for the day over this seemingly small screwup. Broke my heart cause I didn't get to see the girl of my dreams, ("Momma"). Yeah, we was dating back then and I still had testicles........ Rob
  8. Tonight I final adjusted the clutch as I had help. Having never had a working clutch brake in anything I have a question as far as adjustment(s). I adjusted the clutch itself via the Spicer procedure and that went well. I then loosened the bellcrank arm lock bolt, and adjuster bolt adjusting the pedal for right at 3/4" free pedal travel at the top. After tightening and locking everything down I had my helper floorboard the clutch pedal and as it should the clutch brake is sandwiched between the rear of the release bearing, and the front trans bearing retainer. With the engine running and the clutch engaged and me under the truck, and then the clutch pedal is depressed to within two inches of the floorboard, the trans input shaft coasts to a stop. If the clutch pedal is "floorboarded" the input shaft immediately stops spinning due to squeezing of the clutch brake. This sounds normal in operation to me so far. The problem is that if I don't floorboard the clutch pedal, the trans spins, and if I do floorboard the pedal, I cannot readily slip the trans into gear without first easing out the clutch pedal which always slightly grinds as it slides into a gear. I have to hold pressure on the stick to make this happen. From this bad explanation does it sound like something is amiss? Like I said I've never had one of these before so I don't know what is normal. Rob
  9. This kinda shit happens to me all the time so don't feel you're alone...... Tonight I rolled the original five gallon container under the drainplug after breaking it loose. I then unscrewed the plug and held it to restrict drain oil flow into the funnel as to not overflow. I then left the container under the open drain hole to drain overnight. I'll swap the gasket tomorrow afternoon. Rob
  10. I think hacking his testicles off with a smooth butter knife would suffice to show your dissappointment. Rob
  11. I like the trucks quiet too. Ain't nothing sweeter sounding, (other than "Momma's" shrill) than a smooth diesel engine at work. Rob

You sir, receive my upmost gratitude for retaining this truck. Your motivation for wanting to sale is admirable as there is nothing more important in this life than our next generation. Why don't we get creative to saving this truck. The Mack museum is interested in it and they have performed a service most appreciated by a good portion of the membership here. I'm certain we could come up with some type of trust fund managed by an unbiased third party to receive donations for purchase of the truck from you to donate to the museum. If you have a couple of months that you could wait for the transaction to finalize, I can make this happen. If interested, I'll donate $100.00 to set up and start the process. You deserve the point I have given. Rob
  13. Better have one hell of a set of springs under it for me to ride. Rob
  14. Can you shift the truck into gear with the engine running and the clutch pedal released, (foot not depressing the pedel)? If so, the input shaft may not be spinning and the problem could be as you suggest; I doubt it however. If the trans will not go into gear because of grinding, the back section of the trans may be either in neutral, or not shifting into a gear to drive the output shaft. When you operate the shift handle is there any free play. or does if feel like the lever is moving something inside the transmission? Take the driveshaft loose, put the transmission into a gear with the engine shut off, and try to turn the output shaft. If it turns, move forward with the diagnosis. I would never install a trans without placing it in each gear and turning the input and output shafts to ensure it is operable. Rob
  15. Excellent display of care and compassion for our fellow members and their wellbeing. Rob
  16. I've used these guys a couple of times as they are close and do good work. They have treated me right knowing my trucks are antiques so may be worth asking about for a cost savings. http://www.rebuildersenterprises.com/ Rob
  17. Plain and Simple Miguel: FUCK YOU.
  18. "Frontier Justice" is in order here for both this moron and his significant other. Rob
  19. I goes through all the trouble to ensure almost everything is right on my 13 speed install and even decide since the trans is new to use the expensive synthetic lube. After dumping in about 30 pints, (has a PTO installed) through the top cover while watching the fill plug opening in the side, the level reaches the threads. Stopping the flow of oil, and removing the dispenser, I grab a creeper and slide under the truck to reinstall the fill plug. Once under the truck what do I spy, a mother$^*^%$ drip!!! WTF is this shit here I'm thinking??? The damned rt. side counter gear bearing cover is leaking through the gasket. Tightening up does no good so I'll have to remove the cover and replace the gasket. I rebuilt and resealed the PTO while it was off and it no longer leaks as does the power steering pump. I hate leaks!! Now that the driveline is back in and trans full of oil, I was gonna start the engine but after three full months of sitting, the batteries were flat. I've been running the interior lamp, and exterior lamps some without ever starting the engine. I placed the truck on two amp "maintainer" with the shop charger and will try tomorrow. I'll drain the trans also while it's still clean. Rob
  20. I get them from the Lawson dealer that comes by the shop. Like you I don't want to mismatch the threads. I also use 316 stainless bolts so they come out easy later. Rob
  21. Got the driveline reinstalled tonight and cut off a couple of "U" nuts the floor panels are retained by with a slice disc. I'll have to get replacements as I don't have any in 5/16-24 size. Didn't feel like arguing with the pto and drive assembly for the winch tonight so it will wait. Rob
  22. Pretty much the same thing they did around here Randy. Two D8's pulling a sled with a busted D11, water, and chip trucks lubricating the roadway to the shop for repairs. Lots of noise, smoke, and smells to be amazed by. Rob
  23. Look silicone rubber bushed to me....... Rob
  24. No, I've not ever welded the top back down on that chassis. I just kinda shoved the project in the back of the shop, just like a few others. I have customer's cars piled up outside so not a lot of time to work on my own stuff. New grandaughter is taking up quite a bit of time too...... Rob
  25. I too fertilized the lawn about four times thanks to coffee, and gatorade. Rob
