  1. Fantastic shots Barry. Thanks! Rob

    Talent Here:

http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2973137& What were they thinking when realizing there were no retention holes to hold the grille in on the upper sides? Maybe they installed it upside down, no? Takes all kinds I suppose. Rob
  3. Baked a bunch of cookies for the church bake sale thinking they would fare pretty good with the proceeds. They threw them in the trash. Damned hypocrites. Rob
  4. I remember Bob, (nice guy) but I typically dealt with Walt, or Wally, (can't remember how he went exactly). Always nice folks. I was in the NAVY then and they always had time to "swap lies" when I'd be down that way. Those two could get you anything for a B model, and didn't mind doing it. Rob
  5. Matt, how long ago was it when vent windows were $350.00 a pair? I bought a new set in 86 there and gave $138.00 a pair when they were on sale. Always got along with the "old school" guys before the management change. Rob
  6. Paul is very correct in this analogy. Replace the existing starter with a Delco 42MT series, install new 2/0, (or larger) copper welding cable for leads, connect the positive lead to the large center terminal of the solenoid, and the negative lead to a starter mounting bolt, run a "trigger wire" from your starter button in the dash to the "S" terminal on the starter mounted solenoid, and you should basically be set. If the truck currently has a generator installed on the engine it is probably a positive ground system. In this case, run the negative lead to the center terminal of the solenoid, and ground the positive lead. Now however would be a great time to swap to an alternator and change the ground polarity to negative ground which is much more common nowadays. If you plan to run the existing dash mounted ammeter, swap the leads on the rear of the gauge if you change polarity. A good set of group "30", or "31" series batteries and that motor will spin rapidly. The starter motor doesn't care which polarity it has and will only spin one way. Rob
  7. I hashed that one out myself but couldn't bring myself to take on another project. It is not priced out of line and the work it needs is not insurmountable, but if I bring another "project" home for myself, I'll prolly never get to see my grandchildren grow up. Besides that, I've got another "western" R(X)797 with a "tired" V8 in the boresight. Don't know if it's an RS, or RL at this time. Rob
  8. Is it a whore, or a slut that provides their services for free? Whichever it is, suppose I fit the bill? Rob
  9. Hi Ellis, had plenty of meetings to attend yesterday so didn't get by there. Am going by this morning however. 8.24:1 ratio would really give you a limited road speed but plenty of reduction to move a load. As I mentioned I can get you converted over to an electronic setup fairly easily if the mechanical assembly cannot be made to function either through lack of parts, or cost. If you pull the heads from the motor go ahead and spend the money to have the fire ring groove scored into them. This is of course assuming they are good to start with. I think the last set I had done were only about $75.00 for the labor. The engine then can use a later style "Maxidyne" series head gasket set. Rob

  11. Adelman's has nothing of the size. Called another vendor I used often and they were $89.00 each so getting better. They say I can reuse my existing spacers unless rusted out, or bent, (which they're not). Rob
  12. Wow, even the "circulating posts" copied to the new server. Rob
  13. I've got my list going. Rob
  14. Years ago I could "shake the sack" and empty my tank; ahh, the days, the memories........ Rob
  15. Now that we are on the new server which prolly costs a little more to operate from, is it time to call in the pledges of finacial support for the endeavor? Rob

    Barry:

Thanks, I didn't know there was two towns named that close. We actually have a couple towns around here; Berlin, and New Berlin started by two different brothers. Probably similar to your locale. Rob
  17. I've not seen it yet but can hardly wait to see Volvo school busses. These people purchase the least expensive piece of shit they can lay their hands on to haul our kids. The current generation of Freightliners are about ready to be sold off due to problems. Older Internationals are still outperforming the newer Freightliners. Rob
  18. Back up lights are like windshield wiper blades to me; never thought about till you need them to make the task much easier. Rob
  19. Like David said. Now I can pick on people just about four times as fast!! Thanks, Rob

http://www.ebay.com/itm/400238614465?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 What is the story behind ABC Mack Sales in Alexandria, PA? I thought Watts Mack was in business many more years than this? Rob
  21. Citing it is a Paccar built product it is programed to just get out of warranty, then self incinerate leaving you with a very large repair bill. What it does, and how it operates between the time the truck is placed into service and it's final demise; can't say I really know. Hope this helps. Rob
  22. I'll do that tomorrow. Left my camera with my daughter. Rob
  23. I knew it wasn't you. The people that jumped out of that truck looked like they were auditioning for starring roles in the next "People of Wal-Mart" video series. Rob
  24. Ellis: What is your rear axle ratio, and what size tires are you running? Rob
