  1. He done run off with both my bear, and gorilla, then don't show up here no more. Awful lonely around the shop without them two to snuggle up with. This concerns me cause winter's comming. Rob
  2. Man I know what you mean. Before "Momma" gave me one of her "magic whacks"; whenever I'd take out one of my trucks bobtail and hit a bump, I would start to choke on, or smash my nuts below my legs. This happened dern near every time too. Of course that was taken care of when she discovered one of my Mack acquistions. I know a nice set of shorts would have been a lot easier, but I've never been comfortable with that as restraints are for sissies. Looks real good Trent. Rob
  3. As does mine. Rob
  4. Yes it does. The oil leaches out of the rubber the button spins and mounts into and hardens with exposure, and time acting like glue. The heat breaks the bond. Rob
  5. The second cure has worked very well for me. Don't know nothing about the first addiction cause I stayed away from it; cause my dad didn't. Rob
  6. It should have an aluminum frame. Rob
  7. Don't pry on it at all. The Bakelite material will snap off an edge easily. You need to warm the center horn button with a hair dryer, (don't burn the paint) and using a soft leather palmed glove, turn the knob to the left, (most times). It has to be too hot to handle with a bare hand if they are stuck but good. Rob
  8. I had two Century beds at 29' each. Good beds for the money and relatively trouble free. I always used Chelsea pumps and PTO's and never had problems other than normal maintenance. Slide pads were the highest consumable part but these lasted well if kept greased weekly after pressure washing to remove old grease that had "squeezed out" along with the grit. Rob
  9. I had a Challenger bed and stinger and couldn't keep it together. It was breaking/cracking all the time. Is this one steel, or aluminum? Mine was aluminum. I would go with a used Jerr-Dan before another Challenger. Rob

    One For Rob

Funny you should mention the headache part. It did go away the same night shortly after "Momma" seen another Mack on the trailer. I've not had a headache since just after joining the BMT community. I shouldn't laugh like that cause it makes my scars hurt. Rob
  11. Two young businessmen in Florida were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store in the shopping mall. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves and display racks set up. One said to the other, "I'll bet that any minute now some senior is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we're selling." Sure enough, just a moment later, a curious senior gentleman walked up to the window, looked around intensely and rapped on the glass, then in a loud voice asked, "What are you sellin' here?" One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling ass-holes." Without skipping a beat, the old timer said, "You must be doing well. Only two left." Seniors -- don't mess with them, They didn't get old by being stupid!
  12. You prolly better think real serious about keeping her. Rob
  13. You are correct Leon. It would have originally been equipt with an EN-401, or EN-402 engine, gasoline engine. Many were repowered with diesel engines due to more power and certainly better economy. Rob
  14. The GPS in the Jeep would get me right to his doorstep. Rob
  15. I think you are correct on the 34's. Rob
  16. Here you go guys. Just bringing it back to the front as I can't drop a link back to the post. Rob
  17. I actually think it is a personal vendetta from a "weinie washer" that upped the selling price of a truck (RL797S) I looked at in MN last year. This was of course after I drove a little over 580 miles with a gooseneck trailer to pick it up, (I left it setting). Real "flamer" this one, (his husband was just as interesting) and he also drove a 2006 Vision. Probably should be banned. Rob
  18. Great to hear Paul on the acquistion. If I'd have taken an interest there would have been a repeat of the Spanish Inquisition (of me) around here. I am surprised the cab is air ride on the truck. Looking at the original photos by your wife I don't see much difference in the gap from the rear of the hood to the cowl panel with the rear of the cab settled, so assumed the mounting was rigid. An air ride cab is so much nicer to operate in.
  19. Well I decided to purchase new fittings for the 4900 series shift knob in the 5/32nds size to fit the existing fittings on the trans. Bought 50 ft. of the air line so that ought to cover it with a little left over. The left over top shift cover for the RTO series of trans will be kept as it is all new including forks, rails, and all hardware. I'll use it in another trans. Rob
  20. This posting pictures of things seems to be popular so here's a few having nothing to do with anything: My grandma sitting on my grandpa's brand spankin new 1947 Mack "EH", or "EQ", I don't know which as he had both. This is my first grand daughter and daughter in law: A smokey old B model in the shop: Chillin "R" models in the shop: Danged ole V-12 Detroit takin up space in my car wash bay: Double over triplex sitting on a pile of oak boards: And a couple of "Momma's scooter". Rob
  21. This would not be to bad of deal to do. You can adapt many steering gears to fit the need, or Garrison in California will build whatever you require if you supply dimensions needed for the parts. Rob
  22. From the original posting of April 30, 2010: Expressing unsolicited opinions only: By reading the threads the starter has posted both here, and Large Car, he should probably move to another truck. Not meaning any negativity at all but this truck does not fit close enough to what he wants to end up without a cost prohibitive influx of funds to get it there. It is a very nice truck and probably worth the money for someone that plans to use it to make a living, but that kind of cost is not prudent for a part time operation and with, (as has been mentioned) upcoming education expenses for the kiddos. This is reality in pure form; "Family comes first and the toys wait". Robbing, or negating family expenses to fund personal wants and desires is really not the way to go. There is a very nice KW cabover restored and personalized as a "sunken investment" already in the collection that has been mentioned to rob parts from to get the new Superliner up to par; If one has to consider robbing Peter to pay Paul, nothing is gained. Unless the poster is an independently wealthy trucker, or likes to post searching for ideas to do nothing with, nothing should transpire, or any transaction take place. For those that don't know what a "sunken investment" is: Simply stated it is the sum of monies invested into something that may, or may not pay dividends upon sale, or discharge of the investment. Automobiles, housing, and companies all have the possibility, and at times probability, of being losers. I wouldn't take enjoyment seeing this truck back on the market in a couple of years with a new Double Eagle sleeper, extended wheelbase, and other possible personal touches offered at a significant loss to the owner due to being "upside down" in the value, but I do see this as a real possibility. Be interesting to see how this shakes out. Rob Some people are truly "brainless wonders" we could do without. The "wonderboy" has no active posts with us here. Is probably a spammer. It is in the thread: Need help with value of 1988 Superliner, by poster bell206b3, started on April 26, 2010. The originator was looking for feedback on whether to make a purchase or not. We need to have this type activity banned to enhance the site. Rob
  23. They would prolly swear it had a "funny taste". Rob
  24. What size tires are you running, and what transmission do you have? Do you have the housing itself with the wrong gear installed for your application, or do you require everything complete? The truck parts store I use still has a lot of S-W stuff in stock although I can't promise anything particular.
