  1. Another guy stops by the shop this afternoon asking if I had a Mack engine for sale, (I don't). He tells me his R model started knocking a couple months ago and needs a "motor". Says it's a 1982 model. Anyway I'm going to look it next week and may take it off his hands as he says it's been replaced already. I don't know anything about, or what kind of shape it's in, just that it is red, and needs a paint job. It does have the "Valueliner" badges on the hood I'm told. Rob
  2. Yup. That is a mid 1980's transmission so parts are easy to get. Would handle your engine easily too. It even appears to have the 1710 series driveline yoke on the rear which is the same most B series trucks used. If you go with a Fuller you will probably need to have the driveshaft lengthened again as you did going from a triplex to a duplex. Rob
  3. I tried to drop hints the bear was having problems but he wouldn't listen. Rob
  4. Should be alright cause most sandblasting is performed between 100-125psig with hose rated apropriately. Volume performs the task along with pressure. Rob
  5. Think I'm gonna go ahead and plumb it with 1" sandblaster hose. That way not only will it shift in the blink of an eye, the hose will never wear out. Rob
  6. Hi Barry, at the very top of the computer screen are icons, one is an envelope that turns red if you have a message, one is a floppy disc, another is your user name with a drop down arrow icon, and finally a sign out icon. This is all against a black background when BMT blue is the theme. If I go with the stainless theme, the whole top line dissapears in the background. Rob
  7. You prolly wouldn't break even with freight getting it to NV. Rob
  8. Bring somebody like TR back into the limelight and things might turn around for the better. Rob
  9. The two predominant parties have had their destructive run and it's time to step aside for new leadership. Rob

  11. We are a land of "sheeple". Our forefathers would be disgusted as my grandparents were. Rob
  12. Tonight I was building up my new transmission to slip back into the winch truck this weekend. I noticed when attempting to run the air plumbing the air line fittings on the new trans are 5/32nds, where the former was 1/8th. I have a new NOS 4900 shift knob I plan to use and it is threaded for the 1/8 plastic lines. I can remove the brass fittings from the former transmission and swap them without problem as the threads are the same, (1/8th-27npt), or adapt the shift knob for larger lines. Do I need the higher airflow to facilitate the range and splitter functions faster than the 1/8th plastic line can supply? If not why was the change made? I'm making the broad assumption the change was to hasten the time for mechanical operation of the aforementioned items. Thanks, Rob

  14. Mine too. I couldn't see the envelope for PM's, or the balance of that line at all. It was washed into the background. Rob
  15. No matter how hard you may try, You can't fix stupid. Rob
  16. I like both oils for the engine. Use Eaton Full Synthetic in the trans. Rob
  17. Kinda Cute. Rob
  18. They would be reletively safe if they were to remain behind the sail and dangling thier dogs from a line in front of it. The sail actually forms the transmission beam trajectory and is optimized for it's radiation pattern. This is also optimized for high selectivity on the reception side. Have you discarded the contents of the shoe box now knowing what you've been collecting all these years? Rob
  19. A "klystron" is a very stable with a high gain power amplifyer used in the microwave regions of the RF spectrum. This is why they roast hot dogs so well and quick. They are also pretty good at illuminatiing targets at great range "Cling ons" can be avoided by keeping your asshole hairs trimmed short. Rob
  20. You're thinking "Cling Ons" in your shoebox. Most think that hobby is gross and I can't understand why you would collect such a thing. Rob
  21. Doubt there is a klystron left in the place. That is the most expensive part of the system. Lots of precious metal inside, hence the expense. Rob
  22. I've always thought this photo special. Our national symbol keeping a watchful eye over those whom defended her and have passed. Thought I'd share. Rob
  23. It doesn't much matter what parts are already produced. If you put out a quality product at a lesser price than competitors, you will enjoy higher sales numbers. The "R", and the "B" series of trucks have a high demand for soft parts and you should explore these avenues heavily due to lack of available supplies. It seems much of the consumables on these antique trucks are entering obsolence weekly. If you are a small company without many stockholders in a "money grab" that precludes participation in a niche market, you will be able to be very successful. As you know a sound business strategy must be in place first. If you are a prior moulder, then it is well known the cost of moulds and setup can be quite expensive by the time R&D is figured in. I'd like to see you make a successful go of it and support the hobby yet still be profitable. I might suggest you start with wing window seals for the B series of truck. Although they are being produced already, they are overpriced for what they are but lack of competition in the marketplace precludes a reasonable price structure for these parts as an example. If you are a startup, I may be interesting is supporting you. We can talk about that privately. Rob
  24. I noticed it appears the floor tiles being removed. Back in the days of this facility's operation, they were asbestos containing materials most likely manufactured by Johns-Manville corp. They are being removed everywhere right now. Rob
  25. Pretty standard in layout of radar stations. Some of that stuff looks very similar to what I work with daily. I like the "cable chases" in the ceiling. Very standard military style layout. Rob
