  1. I wondered about that but have never seen an "RM" in person. Being on truckpaper.com and referencing the "truth in advertising" that medium purveys, I took it as gospel what was printed. Rob
  2. I was taken with the painted air horns, and marker lamps. I like how it has factory installed air conditioning. He must mean 2/40 a/c cause I have two trucks with that same heater and it is not a factory a/c type unit. There is also no roof air installed that I've seen. Real "lipstick on a pig" this one is. Rob
  3. This is kind of a homely looking thing if original, but rare all the same. http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2977285& Rob
  4. Seen this on ebay. I especially like the new clutch just a couple of days ago. Then look at the tires, then look at the rims that were rattle can painted where the truck sits to "doll it up". http://cgi.ebay.com/...ercialQ5fTrucks This truck wreaks of being run till it wouldn't run no more, cannibalized for good parts, then marginally massaged back together to get rid of it. Wouldn't surprise me if the clutch was removed from the back of a blown engine from another truck which has been done before. Such a shame. Another case of "Buyer Beware". Rob
  5. I have a standing order for the one located at Peoria when it is retired. Runs like a top at all of about 38mph!! It is a helicopter fueler. Rob
  6. That 285 was the basis for the early 350's and were easy to turn up for that amount of power. You did need to change the transmission however to take full advantage of it. Rob
  7. I agree with you on that one. I was kinda fond of the 285 engines too. Rob
  8. I can only imagine the millions of tons of freight moved, (in this country alone) behind less than 250hp. Seems if we rescinded back to "traditional values" we'd be a lot better off. A 237 is kinda like me. A little slower and sloppier with age. Hopefully they leave a bigger spot behind than I do. Rob
  9. I wouldn't hesitate to go after a 237 powered truck if that is what I wanted. You now have a better idea of what to look for in the future. Rob
  10. I'd seen the R model earlier in the week. Prolly should be a different paint scheme to make a sale based on condition but that is personal preference. It will definately make people remember the truck one way or another. I like the IH. Nice restoration of a rare piece. Rob
  11. You even get the bald drive tires!! Rob http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/R-MODEL-MACK-CAMELBACK-TRACTOR-TANDEM-SWEET-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZalgoQ3dLVIQ26ituQ3dUCIQ26otnQ3d5Q26poQ3dLVIQ26psQ3d63Q26clkidQ3d1626606834930728613QQ_trksidZp5197Q2em7QQitemZ190559614968
  12. You can't shit this summer? Gawd, I'll bet you can't wait for the leaf piles in the fall. Rob
  13. The radar that antenna went to was much larger than the set(s) I work with although it radiated no more power, or had greater range. It actually replaced a predecessor the long range type I work with. That sail weighs close to 40 tons and with the exception of the bolts holding it together, is all aluminum. I'm thinking it is about 135' wide and about 45 ft. tall. Rob
  14. The bear and gorilla are not to be feared there for the time being. They are both exhausted as randyp done pulled a "train" on both of them. Rob
  15. Pretty common place for rust Tad. You will have to remove the windshields and gasket, drill out the spotwelds holding the inner panel that is rusted to the outer panel that is the roof through the "pinchweld" area, and separate the two. Cut the inner panel back far enough on each side to be into solid metal. Don't be afraid to cut the roof to cause rust is very migratory and all of it needs removed. I would look for a donor cab that is not rusted as most are not in that area, but are in others. Being up high in the area is not really a good place to learn to weld but a lot of practice will help wonders. I always hated those damned visors cause most cause this exact thing. Rob
  16. I'm warming to the idea that maybe, just maybe, you did get a start on digging a few holes. I only see one in the photo however. That being the case, what did you do with the rest of the afternoon cause it sure don't look like you got much done. Rob
  17. You an me graduated from the same line of schooling!! I learnt the exact same way. I didn't get beat upon cause I was standing back but the breakover clutch in those things was adjusted too tight for a one man operation. The one I borrowed was convertible from single to two man operation and had an adjustable "slip clutch". I prefer to use my tractor and auger these days. Rob
  18. http://albany.craigslist.org/atq/2498939440.html I'd love to install a 26' rollback body onto this and use it. Always have liked the looks of the "L", and "A" series Macks. However, if I drag another truck home I'm afraid my life would be cut very short. Rob
  19. If you are going to get that truck ready for paint in that garage you got a fight with "Momma" brewing cause everything that can get dirty, will. Rob
  20. Nunt uh, no way, even the pope lies, or don't tell the whole story sometimes. I still don't believe it. No photos, no holes. Has to be a sham begging for our sympathies. A man don't dig no holes in this kind of heat by hand. Rob
  21. Not a bad thing at all. Much less expensive than purchasing a new truck using a drivetrain of your choosing. Gliders were built at the factory and finished by either a dealership to the customer's desire, or by the customer themselves. They were a cost effective solution for a basically new truck at less cost. Rob
  22. You weren't around, or disturbing their nest. They are docile when not disturbed and nothing to fear. Change the scenario and it is quite a different story. No photographic proof of you digging post holes means the action never happened. Rob
  23. They are a new cab and chassis minus engine, trans, rears, and driveline. Usually had a radiator that was adaptable for many engines. Rob
  24. Hope that doesn't mean you're dripping this week? LOL. Rob
  25. Raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock here right now. Rob
