  1. Been on there several times but that is the highest price I've seen for it so far. Think it started out at $799.00 which is still high given the structural crack present. Although it is listed as "minor", I've repaired enough to know what lies beneath. Rob
  2. Yup, looks like someone slipped an older END673 and transmission into the truck to me. Rob
  3. I'm afraid we've exploded many a hot dog doing just that. Rob
  4. A single axle Mack R model dump truck with a natural aspirated 237 engine! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mack-1977-R-Model-Dump-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aad2b2b3eQQitemZ320732867390QQptZCommercialQ5fTrucks I'm afraid he doesn't quite know what he's got there. Rob
  5. Heat don't really affect me cause I'm an asshole "at the core", (so "Momma" says). Rob
  6. Yes, the old adage of "lay in the bed you make" still applies. Rob
  7. Chicago was a swelterbox this past week and then was drowned today. Rob
  8. Finger lickin good eh colonel? Rob
  9. Seen it there several times myself but it never sells. Must not be in the condition quite as advertised? Price isn't all that bad if accurately described? Rob
  10. Yes they are. I'll bet she could "out text" you by a factor of at least 10:1, and talk for hours bitching about about nothing of consequence while driving a vehicle also. Rob
  11. Twice I've seen this done to a Cummins powered truck that was shortly on the dealer's lot that had the service performed, priced at retail. Can't say if there is any mention of this during the sale but would prolly venture to say nothing more than a bearing "roll in" was performed. Customer beware is what this tells me. Rob
  12. I'm not certain but think five grand would grind a lot of pushrods?? Might even be able to have someone jig up and manufacture them. Gotta admire a guy trying to keep something "old" going but getting parts for these engines is getting difficult without a spare or two, the life may be of short duration. Getting E9 spare parts is getting expensive and difficult as time goes on over here to. Rob
  13. Nothing is ever easy it seems but that job is quite easy. Don't try to get by with plexiglass, lexan, or any other acetate based material as the repair will be short lived. I've suggested nylon because it will hold up to the heat and vibration. Rob
  14. If you are replacing the injectors why would you want to work with the rack which is internal to the pump? Rob
  15. It would never pass but the use of "hurricane clips" in the trusses and plates, with screws instead of nails in the home's structural members would help tremendously for moderate storms to control, or lessen damage. A discount or break in the cost for homeowners insurance premiums would contribute to their usage. Rob
  16. Looks like you parked a Peterbilt inside there. Rob
  17. You should congratulate yourself for trying to maintain a piece of equipment Volvo never intended to be in existence 2.5 times passed it's expected lifespan. What you have there is a proprietary type adjuster and they were never available in the aftermarket. This is what I was afraid of and have seen many times in the past with European based designing. You will need to fabricate your own type adjuster using stainless fasteners and nylon type plastic. This is not difficult but you need to obtain a piece of nylon type plastic that will drill and tap threads into and will also fit the rectangle "slot" the former adjuster occupied. The drilled and tapped plastic piece will provide your fore and aft adjustment. You may need to build a laminate of plastic sections to close the gap between the part on the actual headlamp and this adjuster also. You would then drill a hole through the complete assembly and using stainless hardware, bolt it together sandwiching the "ear" on the headlamp to your new adjuster. Time consuming and aggravating I know but this is what it takes at times. Rob
  18. I use a triagular file to clean up those threads if something like that happens. I got tired of figthing the weight so the reason for purchasing this thing. Rob
  19. Nice when something goes right. Should be easy from this point. Here are a few photos of my "Back Buddy". It's a little different from a new one available. Rob
  20. Don't think you'd be able to satisfy that blow up doll without several rolls of gorilla tape. Rob

    Heres A Problem:

It is a new law they passed. It' called the "Peter Puffer's Rule". Rob
  22. Another one that can't be deleted as there is no delete button illuminated. Rob
  23. Wait till it gets cold outside. If you plan to run this in the winter, you will need to install fuel heaters cause it gells terrible when cool outside. Peoria quit using it due to storage and winter operating costs. Rob
  24. Well that all sounds quite scrumptious for such a short jaunt. I had to drive 33 miles down country back roads and interstate to gather enough food for the sunday brunch we are just finishing up with. The flat surface of an empty and inverted 55 gallon oil drum makes for a good serving platter and the sun keeps the food warm through convection heating. Last summer when I came up with the idea I used a heavy mallet to "dish" the drum and made an excellent deer based "stir fry". "Momma" even got me a chef's hat for that one. I'm just a poor radar technician and can't afford a nice "unit", so have to make do with what's available as such. Rob
  25. The truck has the equivilent of an E6-315 and there is the possibility it has been built into a 350. It sure runs like it with no load on back. I've already lined up the 13 speed from Adelman's in Canton, OH. I'll strip this one back down and haul it over there for the core and then head to Freightrain's for a break driving. If I have a hair out of place on my ass, I'll jump back in the truck and drive home after only 1/2 hour or so. I was just getting decent at shifting the 13 speed when the trip to South Bend came up and everything with this trans went to hell. I'm still thankful I wasn't stupid enough, (my usual) to attempt the trip cause I really don't think I'd have made it. I'll be at a training class all next week in Aurora, IL so won't be able to get the trans until the following week. All sits for now. I've got to clean up the shop tomorrow before I depart in the early evening. Class starts at 8:00 on Monday. Rob
