  1. Glad to be of help. Get you a bottle or spray can of evaporator algaecide/deodorizer and spray into the intake plenum while running the a/c. Do not use the "recirculate" mode at first. While the a/c is running spray this into the outside intake vents. Then select the "recirculate" mode and again spray into the intake which is usually under the dash. This will kill the algae that inevitably grows due to moisture and humidity/dirt that collects on both the core itself, and plastic ductwork. Smells better too. Rob
  2. 53-55 degree discharge air from the duct closest to the evaporator core is right on target for a properly sized HVAC unit for a given space. This provides the correct amount of dehumidification to the ambient air, along with heat removal. Ensure your blend doors are actuating correctly within the ductwork. Also door seals tend to leak more as they age. Rob

    Fuggly?

If you set a duplicate on it backwards and upside down, will it all go away? You know, the canceling effect? Rob
  4. Power failures in central IL affecting navigation equipment. Everything is on backup power so I've been earning my paycheck. We are burning over 1000 gallons of propane and diesel fuel every eight hours. Rob
  5. I told you my guts was a grinding after dinner and the few "Schlitz" malt liquor cans I drank afterward didn't sit too well. I was praying to the "porcelain god" all evening till I almost turned blue. Sorry I didn't get to see you before departing and glad you made it home reletively unscathed. Great spending time with you. Rob
  6. Hi Ron, we were really close. I was sitting on Morgan's trailer with David talking and you were speaking with someone else. When we finished you were gone; and as Terry said my conversations can be long. Nice B model you have there with a lot of nice personal touches, well done. Yes I will be at Macungie, Lititz, Walcott, along with ElNora too. Got many parts to get shuttled across country and others yet to pick up.. I did not hear from anybody the guy with the Pete was a jerk. Everybody I met with was very nice. I don't remember the truck but have a very short memory span; except when it comes to Mack. Great save on Morgan's truck with the injector line breakage enroute to the show. Rob
  7. Like an unwanted cold blooded serpent, it slithered in on it's belly. Rob
  8. Disregarded in it's entirety. Rob
  9. Those are the same ones I purchased and they do work great. I probably took 250 photos in total and had to delete some cause of water on the lens. We'll have to see how they work for the blow up doll pump, and other vibrating plastic appliances. Rob
  10. Forgot to mention in the earlier posts that no matter how bad the "hop" in the driveline, I could make it stop by checking out some seriously high speeds. This is not what ultimately killed driving to South Bend, but a grinding bearing in the trans I suspect did. After getting a bit over 50 miles on the truck the transmission really started "singing" a few more miles later I could feel the bearings working through the steering column and floor. I then turned for home. I have a couple of 13 speeds around here and will swap it later in the week. Rob
  11. Here is some entertainment: http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/51Mack/2011%20ATHS%20South%20Bend/ Rob
  12. Hi Terry was also great to meet up with you also. Yeah, once I get to "flappin the trap" nobody gets to speak further. I get my opinion across that way. Those batteries I purchased earlier in the day went the distance. Many photos were taken with a flash also. In fact the Ray-O-Vac brand rechargables are already in the trash. Won't make that mistake again. "Momma" really rubbed it in about forcing me to stay in a motel Friday night. By admission it was nice to not sleep in the Jeep again although it wasn't uncomfortable. She is already pestering me to reserve a room for Macungie. I certainly enjoyed meeting those I was fortunate to see. Rob
  13. Got home about 1:45a.m. this morning. Great show as David said. I took 211 photos and not a single PETE as I didn't want to risk poisoning, or breaking my camera!! Some interesting trucks there for certain. Nice bunch of folks and nothing like the car shows I've been to for certain. Whold different mentality. I'll post photos shortly. Rob
  14. Yup. Started out at $8500.00 over three years ago, and has been at $7500,00 for at least a year and a half. Rob
  15. I met up with Jimmy, but haven't seen Paul as of yet. Over 800 trucks as of yesterday with today forcasted to be the largest gathering. Thursday was wet and rainy, yesterday was overcast but dry so many more showed up. Today looks sunny as of right now. More later, David just called and I'm headed to the fairgrounds to meet up now. Rob
  16. I have elected to drive my car to the show rather than the Mack due to a driveline "hop". Tonight I had a friend sit on the 5th wheel while I drove around. I have this serious hop that happens just under 40mph, and again at just under 50mph. "Jerry" said the rear axle just about comes off the ground when nearing the 40mph mark. After looking closely under the 5th wheel the torque link is really beat out on both ends on the rear rear. I'm making the assumption this could be a problem??? The truck is perfectly smooth above 50mph. The trunion bushings appear to be sound with no shifting of the crossbar within the rubber. All tires are equalized at 100psi and are radials. All treadwear is even. Kinda hard to stay in the seat when it's jumping around. I put about 40 highway miles on the truck tonight to let everything warm up well. The trans is quite a bit louder when hot than cold. It does not however have any play, or slop that I can tell, and shifts crisp. There is a fresh reman, and a known good RTO-12513 around here so I may just swap it out. Planning to head for South Bend about 3:00am CST. Some more of my random thoughts......... Rob
  17. I seen that. We all make mistakes in life. It's how we learn from those mistakes and lessons that makes us what and who we are. Sounds like SAC learned rather well of trying to operate one of those things and has discovered how easilly the negative experience is left behind. Welcome to the new member. Rob
  18. What about dialithium crystals like the starship Enterprise used in the mid 1960's? Five years and no need to refuel on a single mission. Sounds like a plan. Rob
  19. I don't really visit other trucking websights other than an occasional "peek" at largecar. There are enough people here picking on me regular, and don't know if I could take another. I usually run by there about once a week on my route. I'll look you up sometime. I usually run over on 74, and back on Rt. 9 when I work the Bloomington airport. Rob
  20. Exactly why he was placed in charge of the project. Experience does have it's merits. I hope he doesn't get caught. Stealing the nose off a vintage "Corsair" fits the category of "heinous crime". Rob
  21. Where are you at in Morton? I'm in Farmington. Rob
  22. Randy's radial engine B model should really scoot going backward cause the prop rotates to the right looking from the rear of the engine and not as the depiction represents. This is true with both Pratt&Whitney, and Wright Aeronautical engines. Must be technologically correct you know. Rob
  23. Good morning Ernie and thanks again for the effort to post the photos. One measurement that would be very nice to have is the distance from the centerline of the steer axle beam to the center of the front cab mount. There is a deformation of the lower cowl panel just above the front end bell of the fuel tank on your truck. This panel is the same on all R model truck cabs. The cab mount is how the setback is determined. This distance is right at 48" on my RL797LST. I'm thinking if I set my cab back an additional two inches there will be enough clearance for the turbine housings and heat blankets, but I will still need to do something with the radiator mounting area for a cooling fan. Rob
  24. Thanks Ernie for taking the time to post these for me. Certainly clears up some questions and way it was gone about. The underside of the hood is the third style of reinforcing ribs I've seen on 700's. Quite interesting to see your alternator and compressor driven from the back of the engine given the proximity to the firewall. They would be difficult to service. I'm not certain I can mount my compressor on the rear due to the turbine housings may be in the way. The cowl extension panel appears to be about 4" or 4.5" in depth and really quite easy to make. Be a little more difficult to form the cowl side extensions without making the part a weldment but can be done. Looks like the cab could be set back almost any depth and the difference made up by the extension panel provided the front cab mounts could be modified to allow mounting, (my truck uses a "splayed" frame and the front cab mount arms mount on an angle). My front mounts also support the fuel tanks. The task doesn't seem quite as "formidible" now. Rob
