    Pray For Me:

As difficult as it is to admit: She's smarter than I. I really need an impeccable, and impenatrable "pack of lies" to get me through this ordeal. My ass has been had with unexplained expenses through the year. The casket don't be lookin too bad about now. Rob
  3. Drinking it warm will break you of that nasty habit on short order. Welcome back. Any new exploits? Rob

    Pray For Me:

The bad weather has restrained "Momma" at home today. This may not seem like a big problem to an outsider but it is tax time and this is what she has started to do. It is only a matter of time till she discovers how much money I've spent over the last calendar year at venues, (such as ebay, Craigslist, Truckpaper etc.) supporting my Mack truck habit. This very well could be detrimental to my well being in the short term. God have mercy on my soul cause she won't on my ass. Rob
  5. Yur right there. Could happen at any time. I come up with one more Mack and I can forcast my own demise. I don't have a current will but "Momma" knows I want "strapped to the deck", and pulled by my own truck when the time comes. Rob

    Note To Rob

Got two fresh "55's" in the shop full of #2 diesel!! I'm ready!! Vehicles in use are also full. Rob
  7. I've found the corporate owned store no matter the brand are all similar. These folks only care about stock that rotates and moves quickly. Your franchised parts stores do a little better by a slim margin sometimes but not consistently. I've found the Carquest franchise to be better than NAPA but that is just my take. Copper washers I know are available there! Rob

Thanks for the guidance. I have been very easy on him the past week or so as I don't have any parts for vehicles. I'm afraid we'll, be moving a bit of snow tonight however!! Rob

    Lash Rings:

Yes the trailer does have a rub rail down the sides. It is all bent to hell so will be replaced. These are what I've always used also on a wood deck gooseneck trailer. They have always worked fine. My skid steer trailer has the "D" rings welded to the outer edges of the trailer which I chain to but this trailer only carries that tractor and nothing else. I always liked the "keyhole" slots in the deck of the car carriers as they were easy to reach and not in the way. I've thought about incorporating these also, but the rub rail is stiffened up would be unlimited in where you can clamp. Rob
  11. The shifter block on top of the trans or bolted to the main trans is not difficult to make. I can try to get you a photo of mine in the A40 if needed. I think there is enough room under the cab to get a clear shot. Rob

    Lash Rings:

Back in the days of the "pulldozer" and underbody bridge being the standard way to pull on frame damage I used them a lot. Never really had problems with them remaining clean. They always had a nice cover that fit well to keep debris out. You pried them open to extract the length of chain to which you afastened to. This trailer has the main frame rails level with the wood flooring. I'm thinking of welding the "D" rings to this frameing. They wouldn't really be in the way there, and are easy to take off if needed. Since this trailer is a dedicated truck hauler, nothing to do with them would be in the way that I can think of.. Rob

I used to see them at the "Chicago Pool" when hauling cars out of there. I never hauled anything that big so never really got to that side of the facility. Rob

  15. That is Morgan Heaton's truck, (B61 Fred). Send him a pm for details. I think it was part of a parade and not a death. Rob
  16. The tag is correct if the truck the engine is from was built after 4/1/1980. The tag is for a 300+ which was later called an E6-315. Same engine I have in my truck which is a 1980 model. I'd say it's prolly had an older timing cover placed onto a newer engine, or the engine was built from parts. Rob
  17. There is an old R.G. Letourneau plant in Peoria still standing. Komatsu now has it after Dresser, and Wabco. Some of those giant mine trucks were built right here along with a hell of a lot of dozer blades. Rob
  18. You never changed a diaper on an infant? Feed them strained corn and you get yellow spots and streaks. Rob
  19. Censorship disallowed the placement of yellow dots to simulate "strained corn" in the color scheme. Rob

These "tow bars" have a box beam construction under the truck that extends. A vertical chain then runs up and around the frame on a saddle and back down to the bar which is then bound up tight. If you look at the front of the tractor you see a lifting bar that attaches to the front tow hooks of the tractor. This is a cantilever type operation and does not slip. Once hooked up, the pulling unit is backed under the affair and everthing lifts clear of the ground. These work great if there is no way to either load or unload "piggyback" style. I've also seen this setup using saddles that lift by the steer axle beam. These do require a removable axel for the rear to tow the unit if not attached to a truck.
