  1. Should still be a service replacement part from Mack unless recently discontinued.
  2. I did not get a chance to compare the panels today but did dig out an extra set to use as a baseline. I'll need to pull a panel from one of my RL797 trucks to see if they are the same height wise. IIRC there were three different "embossing" patterns to the panels. Get me a good clear photo of what you have and I'll see if I can find an extra pair to match. Pretty sure you have the crosshatch pattern from my limited memory, but I have slept since seeing them last.
  3. I actually have heard of that "Golden Technologies", and their chairs. I've worked with many business entities whom work with elderly/handicapped individuals and have seen that name on correspondence several times. Never have seen any of their product however myself. We/I did a lot of accessibility for local school districts and transport in the smaller busses used including floor modifications and installation of specialty mobility options. Still have several chair lifts around the shop which were removed when vehicles were rotated.
  4. Most of the 18-8 rated stainless steel will pit and sometimes rust. I ceased ordering from Fastenal because of this and had to find a vendor whom still supplied true "304" stainless. Was really bad on coastal installations.
  5. Yes, I will be there with hopefully three of my trucks. I'm still in Farmington. Grand daughters have kinda kept me sticking in this area although I'd really like to move a bit east and north say along I-80 and I-39 to be about equidistant from both son, and daughter's families. I retired two years ago next month and haven't looked back. Still settling in really. Know what you mean about keeping things together. Had things spread all over god's creation for a lot of years and with everything in one place can't walk a straight line from front to back in the shop but it gives me something to do.....
  6. I don't get that way much any longer now that son has moved to Wheaton. Usually go up 355 jumping off at Geneva and just a few minutes to his house from there. Now retired I have a bit of free time so if you want a hand with a repaint I may be able to conjure up some memories, (nightmares) of my time in that business.....
  7. I know I have extra panels for the eastern style hoods. I'll compare them tomorrow to the western hood panels and see if they can be modified. Looks like your still parked at the same place?
  8. The Western style hoods did use a different and shorter headlamp panel. They were retained by four screws in the corners. All four of mine are that way. The eastern R model hoods used two screws in each outer corner opposite he "tab" which was to the center of the hood panel.
  9. If they would only work on that early "rust out" issue they'd really have something to break their arms patting themselves on the back over.
  10. Started the truck at 19 degrees outside this morning without issue. Not plugged in so took a bit of cranking but it did fire up. Air pressure runs right up to 120psi and governor ceases making air so I'm calling the job a success.
  11. May not be as "nice" as some folks here would like to see, but with 97 current bids with the high bid being $11,250.00 there are parties out there that do think they can make use of it.
  12. Mine was originally a "Monoshift" that got "into" two gears at the same time and the auxiliary exploded. I took a triplex that had been run low, or out of oil and as an experiment married them up together. That was back in about 1997, or 1998 and the combination really was pretty good but much too fast of gearing with a load on, or backing. With a "monstrous" 170hp on tap and under control of your right foot, it took a while to get any speed out of it..... The later model engine "should" make up for some shortcomings of the original.
  13. Kind of the way mine is setup now. Double over triplex with 3.70 gears on 10.00X22 rubber. Pretty sure it would run into triple digits. Don't know what a guy would call that as I built it up from two different transmissions many years ago. One was a duplex, the other a triplex with both sections being overdriven. Probably going to change the transmission however as the backing speed is much too fast. Once I get this B-61T back to road worthy I'll probably start on another B61ST, (1958) which also has a triplex, (I always liked them) and use this ex military engine with an RTO-9509 trans I have behind it. That tractor has 5.05 rears but there are good sets of 4.17, and 3.65 Mack rears around here.
  14. Being I'm in no hurry let's see if your triplex deal goes favorably for you as I do have a good one here. Single over but I put several thousand miles on the truck it is out of before breaking it into parts.
  15. If he has a market then there's a curve not really available in this country. I used to have two salvage yards call me when they had something antique and Mack to see if there was anything I needed from them. Haven't seen a B series in a long time but some early R models I've picked a few parts up for others restoring their projects. I'm in the market for a blown, poor running, or tired but complete 673 out of a B series as I have a very good running END673T out of a M54A1 military truck I'd like to convert to have as a ready spare. Nothing external on this engine is compatible with the civilian models.
  16. No, but the cab sheet metal gets in the way as it's more compact.
  17. I got stuck doing one just after July 4th, 1976 and it was a real pain. I did however have a 10 ton "one end" jack and was able to get the front bumper almost five feet off the floor and it came out easy. I did remove the center link but really didn't have to.
  18. The R model oil bath air cleaners are constructed differently internally than a B series was. They are larger and the oil level is maintained lower in the sump. They too pull oil at times but the plenum being longer doesn't allow much to be sucked into the piping. That is just what I've noticed from being around and servicing both types in my earlier years.
  19. It'll come out but you need to have the axle much higher than even a B42, or 61 series as you don't have the room to work the gear forward without a lot of vertical clearance. Drop the center link out of the way.
  20. Common used truck salesman trick around here for something desirable. Lipstick on a pig type thing.
  21. Doesn't sound like it's been anywhere in a while and probably not going anyplace either. Your offer is fair for something serving no purpose, IMO.
  22. There are two different spline counts requiring different adapters, (hubs) for the steering column which either bolt, or rivet into the steering wheel center itself. Mid 2001 there was a change to the spline count and a move to metric sizing. Give VIP, (Vehicle Improvement Products) a call and they can help you: https://www.vipwheels.com/kit-configurator
  23. I have one out of a truck if you would like photos. Also have a couple in trucks too without cabs installed.
  24. I know I did but can't say for certain now. I'll go back through some photos later today. Basically if you look online these were duplicates of what I had seen on factory installs with the two offset bend risers and either a stiffener tube down low running at an angle, or an "X" bracing between the two risers. I'm thinking there was an 8.25" offset to the outside of the truck to clear the sides of the bunk and run guards on the mufflers I favored. Used to get all exhaust products from Jim Hawk as they were Donaldson dealers back then. I don't know about now however.
  25. Real horse in it's day.
