  1. Hey Larry, I need a breast plate and brackets also for one of my B models. Thanks, Rob
  2. I have this IH 4200 with a 6V-92, (350hp) that runs well and has an RT9509 transmission. Never have driven the truck off of the property so don't know anything about it. Anybody have experience with these? Are they a good unit, bad, or so/so? The truck was used as a lowboy tractor and always pulled a mechanical detach so it has no wet kit, and is on what looks to be Reyco four spring but is stamped with IH. It must have some low gears in the Eaton diffs cause every nine speed I've driven is pretty tall in the low, or starting gears. Rob
  3. I've been looking for a front valve cover for an E6-350, (two valve) with Dynatard for over two years and have posted on the board several times looking for a replacement. This was for one destroyed when I knocked the engine over into another. Following a quick call and conversation with "Phil" at Global Truck Traders; two days later there is one at the shop with a reasonable price. Don't get much better than that. Thanks Phil!! Rob
  4. I may have posted this prior but still think it's good. Rob DIVORCE AGREEMENT Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al: We have stuck together since the late 1950's for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way. Here is a model separation agreement: Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them. We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood. You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security. We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill. We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem." I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya" or "We Are the World". We'll practice trickledown economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag. Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years. Sincerely, John J. Wall Law Student and an American P. S. Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, Barbara Streisand, & Jane Fonda with you. P. S. S. And you won't have to press 1 for English when you call our country. 7. Used to be: rob@autoaffair.com. I still have the website but is silent. I can be reached at robsautoaffair.com most anytime. I too have seen good and bad jobs from Maaco. They are a franchised outfit with each branch individually owned, (or used to be). I know the material they use, the methods used to apply those materials, and the typical "quality" of the employees. I've been in this business many years and don't typically "talk down" anybody else's work but do keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Let it suffice to say that most employees of this establishment do have difficulty gaining, or retaining meaningful employment within other automotive collision repair facilities. In all fairness: Maaco does employ many individuals with zero to little experience but we all have to start somewhere. It is difficult to gain experience if no one will give you a shot to prove yourself. While I have been "journeyman" status in this industry for over 35 years and actively tried to employ inexperienced help for the shop, (with an ever watchfull eye) it's my name on job so it had to be right, or redone. Most of the chain shops, (like this one) don't oversee employees and it really don't matter if the material is sprayed, or applied with a long nap roller; It's painted just the same. Rob
  8. Skip that vendor. Rob
  9. In my "magic" mirror, Momma in all her beauty shows up. Rob
  10. A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart. 'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife. 'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans he replies. 'Put them back, we can't afford them demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping. A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket. What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband. 'It's my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife. Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price.' On the PA system: 'Cleanup on aisle 25, we have a husband down.'
  11. Same problem I've experienced. Then the screw is so soft it twists out or deforms badly enough that you have to take the head off anyway. Couple of them I've had apart have had Loctite applied to the threads. A 5/6th's carbide burr goes right down the hole and hardly any pressure is needed as the metal is soft. Too much pressure and the bit wants to walk around and that can destroy the aluminum cap on short order. Rob
  12. I've always taken the head off with a carbide burr in a die grinder leaving only the stud or shank of the capscrew. Vacume the hole clean and remove the balance of the screws, then remove the stud. Rob
  13. They're leaning. Rob
  14. Both the new and old style dogs will interchange as far as mounting feet, and bolting up. A new style dog is better than no dog at all. The bases are different for each series/model of truck and the B series mounting bases for the grille shell can be purchased through Barry at the B model store, but are expensive. They show up from time to time on ebay, but are usually in rough condition due to age and exposure. I have several acquired through the years and they are getting difficult to find as time marches on. The dogs with the lighted eyes are not an OEM part but a casting made by aftermarket suppliers. I've seen several and some are good quality, some are not. I've even seen OEM dogs that have been drilled through the eyes to accomodate insert LED lamps. Rob
  15. It is most unfortunate I cannot think of a single incumbent I plan to vote for retention. We are in a real mess and politicians are either part of the solution, or part of the problem. I've seen little movement since the last election that brought this regime into power, and it once again is "Time for Real Change"; Remember that one???? Rob
  16. I've had good service from their "Workaholic" line of batteries in group 31 series. The standard ones do not fare any better than batteries marketed by Wal-Mart at 2/3rds the price. Almost anything that is exposed to high electrical loads, rapid vibration, or shaking would benefit from East/Penn's "better" line of batteries. They are OEM supplied by Cat, Case, and many other construction equipment manufacturing companies. There must be a reason. Rob
  17. I agree. Never allowed nudity on calanders or any of such in my shop neither. All persons/clients I actively encouraged to converse with the techs repairing their automobiles. Trust is a big thing in this industry and an "offensive" workspace is not conducive to earning that trust. Nothing really offends me personally, but others aren't so calloused. Apologies to Jocko for hijacking his thread. Rob
  18. Chrysler had a hell of a time with variable vane technology in turbocharging a few years back. Much the same has FJH has mentioned. Injection system can only put so much fuel out. Rob

  21. I am very pleased to learn of your good fortune. Perseverance pays off most times. Congratulations! Rob
  22. Finally received balance of needed parts. Air control tower now has a/c restored and my body temperature is beginning to drop.

  24. These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read: 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3, The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. --- REMEMBER --- IN NOVEMBER 2010, WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAN OUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND ONE-THIRD OF THE SENATE!
