  1. Best interpretation I've read so far. Needs to start something like "According to the gospel"....... Rob

    Wheels

I've always been partial to either black, or red color spiders, white, or silver rims, and chrome center caps. Chrome lug covers look nice also. This is the plan with my B61, B67, and RL755LST with spokes. the R model only has spokes on the rear. Everything else Mack is on Budd hubs front and rear. Rob
  3. Skunk! The skunk has replaced the Eagle as the new symbol of the American Presidency. It is half black, half white, and everything it does stinks!

    Where Is...

I'll be there in 2.5 more if Momma don't kill me first. Happy anniversary!! Rob
  6. I'd only ever seen cabovers until these photos. Never did like the looks of them, (cabovers) but these seem to be somewhat appealing. I understand they were built in Texas someplace by a seemingly private firm? Rob
  7. That was always my impression also but I never knew if correct. Rob
  8. Also have the block "align honed" through the main saddles when it is apart. A good portion of the time with a "spun" rod bearing the main saddles are out of alignment from the torsional stress placed through the block. I've had crankshafts "spray welded" and conventional welding for building up a journal for the same reason. I've found you need to ensure the magnaflux capability is closely scrutinized and not just glazed over. Small fatique cracks in crankshafts can come back to haunt at a later time. I've gone .030/.030 on rods and mains undersize with inline diesel engines, but have never been into a Mack V8, no matter the series. Rob
  9. RL/RS Grille. Note the short headlamp filler panels. Rob
  10. 16 inch, 54 caliber, (I think on caliber). Number 2 of the four produced. Iowa, New Jersey, Missouri, Wisconsin. Rob
  11. USS Lexington. Rob
  12. I think it has an eastern hood on a western chassis. Homogenization is the correct term I believe. Rob
  13. Wonder if the modified the hood on that R model? Both of my RL series trucks have the same grille panel but use the small script letters above the panel mounted throught he hood itself. My R795 uses the same style hood as this one but does not have the front panel. Also on this photo the headlamp escutcheon panels do not seem the correct length for either an RL, or RS series of truck. Both of mine appear to be shorter. Rob

The last one has already "sowed her own seeds" and is on her way out next election. Rob
  16. Took off work yesterday to start into cleaning out the shop to prep for reopening. Man it is amazing how much "Shit" accumulates over a short period of time. I've hauled out two full pickup loads from storage areas within the building. I've also moved two trucks outside and tarped them as the internal room is needed as I prepare to revamp/upgrade the infrastructure such as heating, lighting, and space divisions. I'm not planning to employ but just a couple people known for years, plus an office administrator as I despise paperwork. This "new" job I was able to reassign to seems to be holding as promised. I don't miss the "windshield time" at all. Not that I mind driving as I don't. Got real tired of the forms, and general paperwork, and the bitching of the expenditures needed to support what I was doing. If the rules had not changed mainstream, none of this would have transpired but literally doubling my covered territory, then complaining of the additional costs, was not the way to do business. Reluctantly I informed the powers that be that I would "pull chocks" on the 2nd of July at the end of last year if things did not recede. Well, June 30th, I get reassigned and my former workload gets dispersed among three other employees with less experience. Now what is new is the same as it was 10 years ago with some additional new equipment as replacements for old. It is amazing home much stuff there is over the office in the storage area that I've no idea what the part fits but is perfectly serviceable. Going to scrap cause there is really no way to track where they came from. As they say; The memory is the second thing to go and I can't remember the first........ Rob
  17. As I move to reopening my shop on October 1st, I need to find someone that recycles/cleans used anti-freeze solution. I have about 65 gallons on hand but the gent that used to come by the shop performing this service passed on January 1st with a heart attack. Really haven't been able to locate anyone close as of yet so this is not settled. Any known vendors/suppliers of this service? Thanks, Rob
  18. Well I'm needing to have hoses built up for a couple of truck within the next couple of months. Trouble is my local vendor has been forced out of a job recently. The other places that build up these hoses locally are astronomical in pricing so I'm willing to go distant if the quality of product and work is good. I'm needing Aeroquip style hoses in -4, -6, -8, -12, sizes in various lengths. Anybody frequent a particular vendor for this type stuff? Thanks, Rob
  19. Nice looking truck and the battery boxes with aluminum covers would be good enough for me. Rob
  20. Ten speed Mack, TRDL107, (I think). It shifts like a 12 speed Mack transmission by splitting gears. Rob
  21. You state you are "pretty sure" the charge air cooler is not leaking but have not verified. If it were me making the decision this would be positively ruled out before preceding further along with the boots and connectors in the induction system. It does sound like the fuel system has been ruled out already. Probably wouldn''t hurt to look at the turbocharger itself as suspect also. I'm assuming the air filter is clean? Rob
  22. Hi Ernie, the truck is my "trusty, yet crusty Dodge". It is a V10 gasoline engine with automatic transmission. The trailer was not mine but belonged to Morgan Heaton, (B61 Fred) here on the board. I borrowed the trailer to bring that one home. I borrowed that trailer several times to drag "projects" back to the shop. A manual transmission would have performed better with this much weight I know as would have a diesel engine, but the truck was purchased new to be my daily driver and I wanted an automatic. Also didn't want to listen to a diesel engine making noise in that application. I have pulled trucks home using both single, and dual rear wheels on pickup trucks. For the amount of pulling that truck has performed through the years I have no regrets with purchasing the dual wheels. It is much more stable in turns, and side loads from wind. I would do the same if purchasing another light truck. One of my Macks will replace the Dodge sometime next year. Rob
  23. If you don't have a pyrometer installed it certainly wouldn't hurt to install one. They are a useful tool and can be an engine saver. Hmmmm, 358? Is that the number Pete used in their guarantee of making you walk, or was it 351? I'm a little vague. Rob
  24. The RL797LST, yes. The RL755LST, no, not on this computer. Another is loaded but the hard drive is belly up and I"ve got to pay to have many files extracted. Since I flunked out of cosmetology school, with manicure and pedicure as main course of study, I learned how to take photos to post on BMT. Hope you don't mind. Rob
  25. As do I but I think it's prolly worth more than the purchase price. Might go good with something like this seeins this is a big black Yamaha. Rob
