  1. Think that's why I can't remember shit. Burnt my brains out in the 70's.

  2. That's a deal!! The price has dropped $500.00 since I first laughed at the guy about it!! Rob
  3. It's about 20 miles from me and I've taken photos of it. It currently has a big block Chevy with a tunnel ram on it. It belongs to "Dave's Garage" in Peoria, IL and he wants $12,000 for it. That is probably why it has been for sale for over two years I know of. Rob

  5. Hi Paul, I agree with your statements. I do plan to use this truck as I really like it, (daughter has her own plans with it however) and without doubt, it must be safe to operate. I've never dealt with Fleetpride before. If you will forward the contact information of the person you dealt with, I'll swing them some business. I know the stuff I want is expensive to acquire, however it must be purchased. I've never been one to put something off till later cause so little gets finished when it's thought about. Brakes, (especially brakes) are not an area for compromise. Although if I go to my grave tomorrow I harbor no regrets of the past as I've lived a good life, I certainly don't want to take anyone with me due to careless misjudgements. Rob
  6. I think there is a lot of talent expended there without doubt. Some further research perhaps should have been performed to allow for better ratio and proportioning. There are a lot of "cut down" originals on smaller frames and running gear that look very nice. This one is not that far off but is lost in the hood primarily. It says it is chopped or narrowed 24 inches but the height is not lowered a corresponding amount to maintain the proper look. The thing that caught my eye was the grill opening and the standard size "MACK" lettering. Hell, proper decals would look better than this hodge podge. Not my truck, not my money, not my time in this truck so not my place to criticize but I'm only expressing my personal opinion. With about 8 more manhours in the hood, (plus paint) it would look nice. As far as the chrome, I could leave it. Too much of a good thing. Rob
  7. Prolly woulda dented my fire extinguisher if it hit me in the head. Rob
  8. http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/cto/1784706638.html This could have come together better. My opinion only. Rob
  9. It's a start....... Rob
  10. Macungie is not looking good for me at this point. We are commisioning this new radar facility on the 24th and there are still some minor problems. The jury is still out and I want to make it due to it being the "Mack" year. I don't know the area at all. I was going to look you up however as I'll be there the full week. Rob
  11. Agree. I also found a lot of scale tickets from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard from over a dozen years ago too. The truck worked there exclusively it's working life. Rob
  12. My 74 RL had a couple under the passenger side stowage compartment still in the foil. Rob
  13. New antibiotic must be doing some good. That dull ache is diminishing through the rt. side of my face and I can actually carve that green shit from between my tooth and gum.

  14. But what we all want to know is: Did it fit???? Rob
  15. My daughter Nikki who is a fanatic of Jack Links' beef jerky walks in from work, spies the brand new package of the stuff I made a special trip to purchase for her, and promptly calls me this most heinous name, "You Jerk". Kids are so disrespectful these days. I'm left on a meandering course of bewilderment trying to recover. Here is a photo of the package. Rob
  16. I'm going to class for large UPS, Uniterruptable Power Supplies for buildings. We have more and more of them being installed on radar sites. They have regular working hours classes so should be able to get together. Rob
  17. I'm gonna be attending a factory training school at Eaton in Raleigh, NC from 7/18-7/23. If any of you guys want to swap lies in person give me a call sometime between now and then. My number is: 309-219-2070 and it's always on, (much to my chagrin sometimes). Don't know if I'll be driving the "trusty, yet crusty" old Dodge, or "double nuts" but I'll be there. I'll have to see if they'd be pissed if I flunked. Rob
  18. I'm to the point of needing to purchase valving for operation of brakes on all corners. This B67 never had spring brakes as most B series trucks do not and I'm installing spring parking brakes on both rear axles. The truck does have steer axle brakes also. What valves, and plumbing am I going to need to acquire to make this function properly? I'm planning to run all new plastic/nylon lines, but will probably adapt to some of the existing copper if it is sound. Thanks, Rob
  19. I see a brake foot valve, a relay valve for the long wheelbase tractor to eliminate delay in brake application, and anti-compounding valve so you don't warp your drums by applying brake while spring brakes are set, tractor protection valve so you can remove the gladhands from the trailer and not lose air, a few a few actuator valves so you make desired functions happen, plus a few I can't clearly ascertain......... Looks like you went with all new stuff. You'll be glad you did with a complete rebuild such as yours. Rob
  20. Got my air hoses and fittings rigged up for the air powered hoist on the gantry crane so wanted to lift something substantial. Don't really have a good way to lift a truck as of yet, (haven't got my spreader bar finished) so I grabbed my Detroit V-12 that is strapped to a pallet. Hoist didn't even wimper and I was surprised how much finess can be obtained with this thing supporting almost two tons. I think I could set an engine into a truck frame and ease it into position without much effort. I do need to run a 1/2" airline to it however. The 3/8ths line slows down due to restriction and not free flowing enough. My 3/4" impact gun does the same thing. Rob
  21. Awww Geez, everytime I put negative pressure in my mouth like sucking on a straw, I draw out some fresh puss from within the gumline under the teeth. Like me it has bad taste. Jaw is starting to loosen up a bit in movement but still can't eat solid food. And that dogmeat was sounding so good too.

  22. Hi Fred, I've never worked on this problem before but wouldn't it be prudent to replace the diaphram if you expose it? Can't really be that expensive I wouldn't think and could alleviate a problem further down the road. Rob
  23. Under the avatar photo to your left there is a photo that looks like an envelope with the flap open. Click on that to send a message. Rob
  24. Hi Dan, a "Dynatard" does essentially the same thing as a "Jacob's Engine Brake" but operates different. "Dynatard" uses a modified camshaft profile and electric solenoids over the exhaust rockers to force the cam followers to ride this profile when engaged. There should be a switch on the dash to turn it on or off. Most of the "Dynatard" equipt engines have a single wire attached to the governor section of the injection pump. This wire attaches to a foil strip on the underside of the cover that contacts the fulcrum of the pump rack to force a ground to the system engaging the solenoids. If someone has been into the governor, or taken the cover off and bent the strip it could be making contact at idle which could cause the problems you mention. Herb helped me with one of mine that was doing exactly that. I'll get you a copy of the adjustment procedure if you like. It is quite simple to adjust but for starters, remove the wire if present and see if the problem persists. Rob
