  1. I don't think it is off subject at all. I really can't say that all of Chinese produced tires are garbage as there are a few good examples out there. My Cat powered RL has Cooper CXA tires on the rear that are 11RX22.5 and made in China. Now I have ran Cooper brand tires for many years on my personal cars and pickups and had never seen this before so I called the tire dealer on it. They went back into the archives of Cooper and found that series, (and many others) were produced in China to our "rigid" specifications. I've driven the truck and it is smooth driving for an aluminum framed tractor on Camelback that does not bounce because of tires. Since then I've seen a couple of other American brand name tires that are produced in China also. I did read an article in a tire trade publication about how some american companies were using chinese labor due to cost. I can't figger out how something can be produced nearly 12,000 miles from my doorstep and it will sell for less money than something produced 20 miles from home. I don't know if a tariff is the correct way to influence american patronage of american companies or not because the greed of corporate America is largely to blame. I would rather see credit restrictions tightened to the point where only the well qualified would be able to receive it. This would put the check on the exhorbitant lifestyles so many enjoy, but cannot afford. I do think that the bulk of the tires produced in China and India are manufactured solely to keep the rims from sinking into the ground. Rob
  2. Damn, I like that. Have to make sure it goes a couple places like our EEO office, and HR dept. Rob
  3. Don't know what a "griner" is? Well in my local farm store, (purveyor of only top quality merchandise) I found a stand for one: Just think, the producers are legally purchasing us, one dollar at a time because some stupid American will buy it. I wouldn't doubt this was made from a recycled american car. Rob
  4. Hi Paul, I have done exactly as you suggest many times in the past with the tire vendor I typically use. This is where I usually come up with brand new 22" tires inexpensively. We just had Christmas gathering with our son on Friday and this is when the approval was given for the purchase of tires. I have a few good pairs of used 11RX22.5 on Dayton rims, but really want to stay with 20" on the steers as mentioned. I've found it difficult to find 20" radial tires around here because farmers are about the only ones that will run the 9.00, and the 10.00X20 rubber, and it is getting thin. I don't know about your area but most farmers around this area are so tight they squeak when they walk, and most stuff is bought on price rather than quality, i.e. China. I hear them bitch consistently about their new tires being junk because they bounce so bad, (China, or India trash) and I take the opportunity to make sure they know they "got what they paid for". Thanks, Rob
  5. Hi Herb, the tire dealer that I use has Kumho brand tires and I'll check with him tomorrow. I've had good service from that brand on my trailer, and daughter's car. This was until her ex boyfriend sliced a couple of them for her...... The ones are still on the trailer. Thanks, Rob
  6. For Christmas Momma says I can order a pair of tires for the B67 with a limit of $750.00 for the pair. I called Firestone and they suggest their T819 series as it is available in both 10.00RX20, and 11RX22.5. The truck is on Daytons and I really don't care for the gap that 22.5 Dayton rims leave on the hubs at the perimeter of the rim. 20" rims do not have this gap. I'm going to stay with 20" on the steers, and switch to 22.5" on the drives. I'm wanted more of a rib type all position tire to match all the way around. I won't be converting this tractor to anything else and it will be used as is. Anybody have any other suggestions as to which type, or brand of tires to run? Thanks, Rob
  7. I've only seen a single Roadway Mack tractor and it had an 8V-71 engine. Don't know if they were all that way or not. Rob
  8. If that's the case. he done well. Nothing was wrapped. Rob
  9. Voila!! Truck related gifts for Rob it is!! From my son I received an almost new 55 gallon R model saddle tank, (13,000 miles new) to replace the one on Project R-12 that has nine patches welded to it. Also received another set of stainless lug nut covers,.and a complete exhaust system including one year old muffler, guard, and chrome stack for an R model with an E6 series engine. I'm thinking that boy was raised right. Rob
  10. I feel work is out there, and if a person is hungry enough, or not too good to do it, they will prosper. Rob
  11. I've repaired several broken exhaust manifolds myself using Lincoln 55% nickel rod and my tig welder. Never have had one break as of yet. Not that difficult to do but the item must be clean, and deep "V" grooved in the weld zone for thorough penetration. Of course the finished product is shiney but can be painted with high heat paint if covering it is important. Rob
  12. I wonder if the carriers will fit into existing housings and if they will be available for replacement of existing units through ReMack, or parts channels? Rob
  13. Gross income revenues down slightly. Operating expenses down sharply. Employee expenses reduced 100%. Headaches gone from lack of employees that don't want to work, Priceless. It's been a good year. 2010 looks to be even better. Rob
  14. And the Obama Administration will ensure you pay the same or more in income taxes for the year. Rob
  15. I'm surprised EGR is not monitored for pressure, or vacume. Typically the EGR system is on vehicles. Rob
  16. Standard Forwarding is another one that was exclusively Mack and they may still be. I've never seen anything else in their fleet. Rob
  17. And the same back to you!! Happy New Year!! Rob
  18. Sounds like you try to do things right. I hate comebacks due to faulty or cheap workmanship especially when it had to be paid for. I think you'll be set as far as this problem. Good luck. Rob

If you can stomach Ryan "SuckDong" Seacrest, Fergie is about to appear on the New Years special on TV in just a few moments. Rob

It has went up in price, or they have increased the quantity. I was thinking the pure petroleum distillates had declined in price and thought the purchase price would be reduced appropriately. Suppose I was incorrect. Still a good bargain considering that nasty burn, and itch that must be contended with if the product is not used. Rob
  21. I am assuming that your driving lamps were an OEM supplied part installed by Mack? If this is the case you will probably be alright. I do not like to use existing wiring if installing aftermarket lamps. OEM driving lamps rarely exceed 55 watts, (H3 type bulbs) and therefore are acceptable in the original wiring. Aftermarket replacements can exceed 100 watts and need larger wiring and aforementioned heavy contactors to safely carry the electrical loading. Rob

    Oh Dang

And he can prolly lick his own BALLS!! Rob
  23. Glenn I'm trying to be conservative with my guestimations on weight. I don't get on no scales cause they scare the shit outta me. I could be up around 400 pounds by now but think I'm about 350 give or take 20. Rob
  24. It does sound as if they did a good job for you. It also sounds like the circuit is not heavy enough, or marginal in the function it is to perform. You have done well in rerouting the current required for the driving lamps away from the existing wiring. Hopefully you do not rely on a switch alone for the current to power the new lights but rather a definate purpose contactor specifically engineered for the job. These are routinely referred to as a "relay", but are in reality a "contactor". Relays are actually for switching small signals but the term is misused as they are not for switching large loads. Don't mean to be so proper in the general sense, but I make a living working with this stuff and cannot be ambigious in my explanations. Rob
