  1. How short of service time did this truck provide due to being back at the dealer for repairs while in your brother's ownership? With him replacing it with an 06 model, seems like a short timeframe. I had a lawyer shove a new Ford diesel up the dealer's ass because of lousy craftsmanship on the assembly line of the engine in 95. That is why I drive my Dodge now. Pay cash for a brand new truck and get less than 100 miles on the clock before my rollback is carting it back to the dealership. Turned out the injector cups were bad in the head(s) and wasted the engine with coolant. New engine, and after three weeks downtime, the thing wouldn't start cold due to faulty HEUI controller a couple days after getting it back. Back for another that didn't last a month and I'd had enough. Swore the damned thing was a Pete so I got rid of it. Rob
  2. That "E" model ex firetruck is a nice little unit. Too bad it belongs to a place that doesn't like to sell things due to exhorbitant pricing. Maybe I'm wet but $10,500 seems a little steep to me. Rob
  3. I wouldn't plan to use a Mack V8 engine to make a living with as parts are either obsolete, or going that way. A couple months ago I purchased the last lower gasket set in Mack's North American inventory and had a couple other friends overseas check for me also with nothing available. I did check with Mack last week and there are now three of those sets in Chicago, however nobody knows how they were missed in my original search. Liners, pistons and hard parts are discontinued in the OEM, and aftermarket availability also. I personally like the V8 engine(s) and have three running with another for spare parts. These will not see work again, but retain "hobby status" for me. Rob
  4. If you are going to a two filter setup do you need to retain the Luberfiner for other than looks? The engine was not built with a bypass type filter so it may not be necessary. I like the looks of them myself when they are not all rusty and would leave the cannister in place for cosmetics. Rob
  5. We went light this year and only went with $20.00 per gift. That seems to have worked really well. I got a fresh tube of Neosporin, (for sustained wounds), a large chunk of Illinois coal, bottle of Milk of Magnesia, and a pair of stainless hubcaps for the steer axle of one of my trucks. Life is good. Rob
  6. You are prolly correct in the root kit virus assumption. If the computer is brought up in "Safe Mode" everything can be worked with except the operating system utilities such as software removal. I've spent several hours copying files that we have generated and stored so I really don't think anything will be lost when all is said and done. I don't have any pirated software and what I do have/use is purchased, or supplied with the computer so it can be reloaded. I just hate to go through the many hours it takes to do this. Rob
  7. Appreciate the help. I'm out of town in preparation to consume massive amounts of my mother in laws holiday cooking. Momma, and Momma's Momma are in the kitchen making grub for ole Rob and a few others. So much for my diet. Rob
  8. Don't use fender or body washers alone but rather use the full size plate as recommended. The cowl panels on the trucks are a one piece stamping and only .030 thickness. They will crack easily with the vibration and weight hanging on it. My 74 RL700 has the plate for an external mounted Luberfiner filter and is bolted through the cowl panel although the truck never had the filter. My Cat powered RL700 does have the external Luberfiner and the plate is the same on both trucks. Rob
  9. No, it cannot be uninstalled through control panel. When the uninstall button is clicked it goes into examining files to install AVG, then a window blows up saying it cannot be installed. Upon bootup of the computer a banner flashes that AVG is either corrupted, or the license is unrecognized. Either way it is useless and I can do nothing with it. Rob
  10. Right now I can't download, install, or delete anything but have lost no information. A message flashes up upon bootup that says AVG is corrupt, but it cannot be deleted through control panel. Instead of removing when the software is clicked to remove, it tries to reinstall but stops after a few seconds. Most stuff can be run and worked with in "Safe Mode" but the resolution is very poor and all icons, and much of the screen is not displayed due to size. Thanks, Rob
  11. Hi Thad, my computer came new in March of 2004 with XP Pro installed so the disc I have is old but original. The last time something like this happened I dumped everything onto my external hard drive, and formatted the original internal drive. Never had another problem until this one popped through. It was my own fault by not keeping virus software current. This latest virus shuts off a lot of utilities and installed files/programs cannot be deleted. I think I've got everything backed up onto the external again but need to check once more before dumping. I really don't want to lose some stuff and so far do not appear to have. I'll go back with the XP Pro as I'm comfortable with it. Thanks, Rob
  12. Yes, and I have become proficient using a size "00" needle to perforate my hemmorhoids to promote drainage also. Rob
  13. I have lost the 10 pounds gained through the year. I topped the scale right at 320 for a bit there. I'm trying to get down to 300 but not gonna make it with the holidays here. Hope you had a good Christmas. Glad to see you post again. Rob
  14. And Merry Christmas to you and yours too Paul. Rob
  15. Been kinda concerned for his welfare as of late. My daughter tells me someone from mid Tennessee way stoped by her business, "The Precision Incision" for a little cosmetic surgery. I guess things went well and with the exception of a slightly noticable limp, all was normal. In the concluding conversations, he left without paying the bill. She didn't catch his name or have a chance to get the insurance information, but if it were Mike; I would like to know if the bleeding stopped. Hope he's alright and had a nice Christmas. Rob
  16. I think both of those "Hollywood Lawyers" were in the ground when he had his accident. Rob
  17. I'm gonna build a spreadsheet and post it on my soon to be operable website with a link from here. That way everybody can see progress. Rob
  18. I have Windoxs XP that came with my computer new in 2004, Window XP that is supplied with service pack 3, and a Vista package with service pack 1. All three copies are legit and not pirated and I have the appropriate numbers to authenticate each. I'm not very computer savvy so don't really know which one to reinstall after I dump my machine later today. Looking for thoughts, pros, and cons. I'm not a gamer or play on the teenie bopper sites, just mainly use the computer for business, and surfing the net with a touch of hasseling people on here. Thanks, Rob
  19. Yeah, you prolly better answer that cause being Christmas and all, it may be of importance. I was hopin you didn't think that tweezin fresh growth hair while it is soft was playin with oneself. It really is work with a penlight, small mirror, and getting everything lined up so the light, and mirror are in the right place whilst you operate the tweezers. Why if you grabs skin rather than the hair and pull, it is just plain painful and could cause immediate control loss of the bowels. But, we won't talk about that. Rob
  20. Can't seem to locate a decent semi trailer around these parts. Anybody in the mentioned area that could have a looksee at one for me? I would really like to have one like this in 42' length so a beavertail wouldn't be so long, or over 48' overall. http://portland.crai...1523090600.html http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2241313 Thanks, Rob
  21. I've got bib overalls with the pockets worn out. Now what EXACTLY should a guy like me be playing with???? Rob
  22. If you wanted to stay electronic you purchase the donor engine, and all electronics including the wiring harness from the yard. I don't know how many times we've swapped late model engines/trans combinations into an early chassis' over the years. Can't say I've ever done a big truck but plenty of early Mustangs, Camaros and such run with mid 90's to early 2000's drivelines and computers. Really not that difficult to do. Since you would be using essentially the same platform it would not be much of a challenge. If you went with a mechanical E7 series engine you wouldn't need to reverse engineer much although you may be down on horsepower a little. That series of engine is too new for me to know anything about. All I know is that if left alone they are fine but when cranked upon, reliability suffers. These trucks are becomming old enough to not have any warranty left so time to make them what you want. Still seem to be good, comfortable trucks. My basis is simple; I don't believe in vehicle payments so I maintain what is here and run it till no longer feasible, or cost effective. The one payment method works real well for me. Rob
  23. Why not repower with a mechanical E7 engine? I don't know anything about inspections and such but it sure seems like a viable option given the amount of problems folks experience with these things. Rob
  24. I looked all over for a really small one for Momma's desk but all I found were too large. Best Buy had one I think would have been fine but they were out of stock. Rob
  25. Sent to me by a fellow member: Enjoy. ItalianChristmas.wmv
