  1. Sand on the heavier members such as frame(s) are unexcelled for it's qualities. Rob
  2. Hey there, I'm needing an electrical diagram for the R model chassis with the breakers in the glove box. I've got the type that has the breakers down below the dash in front of the passenger's knees behind a panel. The two prints are different. Anybody got one they can reproduce? Thanks, Rob
  3. Thirty five thousanths will get you in the ballpark. A J6C is still a very common plug. Rob
  4. Over time I've been dismantled, "One piece at a time" with a sharp butcher knife. Rob
  5. Yeah, I was taken by the title too. Thought that her and the office girls thought fondly of my exploits and I was up for a little deserved reward. Upon expressing my gratitude for such generosity, I was informed that R-N-R stood for "RE-NUTT-ROB"! Now I don't know about any of you guys but anytime the word nut, and Rob, are mentioned in the same sentence, I have instant fright with paralyizing fear set in. Think I'll hide. Rob
  6. I had an AD-4 Bendix on the rollback truck and it always sputtered when discharging. Never caused any problems. Rob
  7. What dryer do you have? Bendix, Wabco, etc. You did not properly "bribe" the governor to work for you; (couldn't resist). Rob
  8. New neighbor lady moved in next door and asked if I could hold the ladder while she paints all the ceilings. I guess it's the neighborly thing to do.......
  9. Soda will not touch rust. It is perfect for paint removal and will not etch glass. Soda can cost a little more than plastic media as the media itself cannot be reused. If you are doing a complete frame go with sand after stripping bare of all mountings, spring hangers and such. If you blast leaf springs, take them apart as the sand will chew them up over time with usage. Ask your blaster to use green, or brown "foundry sand". It is much easier on the surface and does not "etch" near as badly as most others. Rob
  10. Don't really need a muffler as the noise is not objectionable out the stack. It is actually quite quiet. Does sound really good under an overpass, or between buildings. Rob
  11. I can't tell you from first hand experience as I've never been a truck driver that has used one of the V8's produced by Mack. I have been told by many they were real "powerhouses" in their heyday, but changing emmisions laws in this country was to their demise in production. Parts are getting scarce and therfore expensive to acquire as of late. Rob
  12. It got ugly around here for a bit. I even went and bought her a classic Cetari painting of the famous Mack bulldog for her office, (did not further my cause). I am no longer in possession of anything else to give yet I can hear the terrible sound of a hollow grinder running in the background. I AM scared. I'll keep you posted. Rob
  13. I've seen that happen with the governor bad on the compressor not allowing the discharge valve to close on the bottom of the dryer. Rob
  14. Close Thad: The "L" in the designation denotes lightweight components such as spring hangers, fuel tanks, rear axle carriers, front hubs and several other little items, or none. It was really up to the person ordering the truck. As per your analogy: RS= steel frame RL=aluminum frame "7"= longer hood "XX" = engine callout numbers denoting which engine is original equipment; (97 was an ENDT866 Thermodyne, 95 was an ENDT865 Maxidyne) "L" = lightweight components as mentioned "S" six wheel chassis "T" tractor configuration "XXXXX" serial number of chassis prior to 1980 Both of my "RL700LST" series tractors have many of the aluminum components. Rob
  15. Well at least you are prepared and have excellent foresight. Rob
  16. Stupid airplanes. Always getting in the way of something. Rob
  17. Well I'm not a racist by any means. I think the sign is nothing short of funny no matter what your political affiliation is. Like it or not at least this president has the BALLS to do something, even if wrong. Rob
  18. 707 but referred to as 711. I don't know why unless just for discernment from it's gas counterpart. Rob
  19. There were a few put out to trucking companies in 1965 for testing in B model chassis. The engine series was introduced for public sale in mid 1966 in the R model series of truck. This was per my grandpa whom had two B models with very early ENDT-675 series engines backed with five speed transmissions. Rob
  20. VOR stations radiate omnidirectional, meaning 360 degrees from origin at a distinct frequency. In these transmissions there can be distance measuring intelligence but not always depending on the physical equipment located at the faclility. These distinct frequencies are assigned an identifier such as BMI, PNT, PIA. In operation a pilot calls air traffic and the controllers tell the pilot to switch to such and such frequency on their receivers. Upon selecting that required frequency a needle in the cockpit points toward the VOR station. The pilot then switches course to have the needle point up. When the station is neared the pilot then asks for another assignment and a controller assigns a new station to follow, or air traffic personel tracking the flight assign a new course. This happens in all controlled flight in the national airspace. General aviation that remains below about 3000' is usually under VFR conditions and is not regulated as such. It really depencs on the airspace being flown through. When you look at a flight map the straight lines drawn on them are usually flight lanes for controlled flight and there will be many VOR stations along the way. As you know there are no painted lines in the sky to follow. VOR stations are referred to as the "highways in the sky". Down and dirty I know. That is the basis of the reason for their existence. Rob
  21. Here ya go!! Rob
  22. I've been out training on a new radar facility being installed at Peoria all day. Our govt. and your tax dollars at waste again trying to train old dogs new tricks. Rob
  23. That was the very next thing I thought about after personal safety issues......... I may have reached "saturation limit" with "Momma", but plan to ask anyways. If I wind up with it and don't post for a while, it will because I'm recovering; And I don't mean from addiction to alcohol or drugs........ Rob
  24. Seen this. Could be trouble. Rob http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VINTAGE-1973-MACK-RL-700-DUMP-TRUCK-PARTS-OR-COULD-RUN_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4149efeee0QQitemZ280413335264QQptZCommercialQ5fTrucks
