  1. That is not too far off if I remember correctly. A coil is an oil filled transformer and the breaker points "chop" the incomming and rising DC voltage that is fed to the primary winding. This action induces a voltage across the secondary winding via magnetic induction. There are many more turns of wire in the secondary side of the coil than the primary winding and this action steps up the voltage output at the coil. This high voltage is then distributed via the distributor, rotor, cap, and wires to the appropriate spark plug. You are stepping up somewhat less than six vdc up to operating voltage to fire the spark plugs. You could substitute for a short while a 12 battery and see if the engine starts better but this is only for testing. If the coil is making 15kv, (open circuit) it sounds as if you have an ignition timing issue to evaluate. The ignition spark must occut at the appropriate time for the engine to fire easily if the problem is ignition related. I seem to remember this situation a short while ago. Rob

Maybe there is hope for me yet. I like it. Rob
  3. Prolly so cause a dog that has just performed cunnilingus upon itself is just not that inviting. Sporting crevice breath isn't that bad, just not when you wear it via the dogs' tongue... I've not seen Masingil, (sp) on the veterinary shelves, (or daught hasn't mentioned product availability yet) but if there is enough demand, it will be brought to your grocers shelves! Rob
  4. I wouldn't think just a Jake assy. would be that heavy but I don't know, never seen one for a Cummins. Email me the address of origin, I get good rates on shipping, (thanks to family). Rob
  5. Naw, even the most stubborn of animals learn real quick that I don't like to be licked unless by Momma. Rob
  6. It would be with great difficulty that I would be able to surmount the ascention into that cab. Hell, I'd prolly pull the truck over on top of me! That's a good dog. Mine has climbed a step ladder seven feet, (no shit) to go with me. Rob

Damn, it sounds like you are qualified to be an office secretary. Are you certain you will have time to operate machinery if your knowledge base is solely concentrated on administrative functions? The office administration is a large part of any business operation, (large, or small) but those without the drive to perform the work, then track the performance will not acheive success they long for, and are blinded by. Do you realize that 50% of small business startups fail within the first three years? Only about 12% of new business startup actually survive five years. Any business that starts on bank loans and high administrative costs is almost doomed at the start as the law of averages does not play favorites. I did not learn much in school as I quit when 16. I do know that I've raised my two wonderful kids to adulthood without grandkids, and put my wife, and both of those kids through college without debt or outside help on the limited knowlege that I do have. Personally I think a college degree is what is needed in this timeframe to make up for the lack of work ethic displayed by the younger generation that survives on handouts, or sponsorship. Do I sound like a prick? Here is an example: I terminated a decent bodyman a couple of months ago for taking a personal telephone call as I was counciling him on his lack of attention to detail. I can be an intolerable asshole when my business interests are not looked after, or jeopardized. Otherwise, a reasonably nice guy. I bring this up because there is a good side to doing business, and a not so good side. If you are not willing to strike an equal balance between the two, and know when to apply them, there is very little chance of long term success. You have been offered some very good advice from persons that have lived the dream and the choice is yours to be correct. At 18 years of age, looking at getting married with possibly starting your own family is not the best time to gamble on your immediate future together. At your age you do not have the world by the "short hairs" and will need to gain real world experience before possibly losing control of what you may, or may not have, at this point. It sure is demoralizing to have to start over, and several are trying to help you along; Get some real world experience by not jumping into your dream right out of the gate. Find employment with a company and as part time experience, haul grain and such during the harvest and planting seasons. Some of the best experience out there is REAL work! Rob

  10. Actually I didn't. They don't typically present problems. I only hit on those retention screws cause everybody that doesn't normally work with them has the same problems you did. If you drop them, "you're are going diggin" to get them back! Don't know how many doors on both the F-series, and Econoline series I've changed, repaired, skinned, sectioned, etc. through the years. Not near as difficult to work with as some of the units from the 80's when manufacturers were trying to lessen their expense through design and repair persons were paying for it. Rob

  13. Here is a photo of a 1693TA sitting on my trailer, and the 1693TA in my RL755L. This engine is just about 3900#, (as shown) and measures 63 inches from the floor to the top of the turbocharger with the oil pan touching the floor. The bracket at the back of the engine on the trailer supports the p/s pump reservoir and what was the rear cowling of the fire truck this engine is from. It would not be required in another application like this. An inline Mack engine measures about 38" tall. I can just imagine the "affection" I would receive if I built a truck to exclude Momma from my activities. Rob
  14. It can be but magnetic socket inserts make short work of it. Rob
  15. I always like the LTL9000 series of trucks. One of the best looking ones out there at that timeframe. I repainted one Dodge Viper Red in April of 97 and it really looked sharp. Had all new aluminum wheels, new front chrome bumper with five PerLux driving lamps, new OEM door shells, (they were terrible about rust), windshield and seals all around, dual stacks that were new also. This one really stood out. Only bad thing is the owner wanted the tanks and steps to be body color and that did not do the truck justice at all. It was an 87 model and still used the aluminum hood fasteners instead of the later model rubber ones as in your photo. I'll have to see if I can locate the box of photos they would be in sometime. Rob
  16. Why you're not talking about the three 11mm hex head nuts with a 19mm sems washer affixed that has to reach almost 12mm into a 21mm hole in the inner structure to reach the 6mm thread pitch studs that protrude 21mm from the mounting bosses of the mirror are you? Why that operation seems vaguely familiar for some strange reason. Rob
  17. Valid point. Rob
  18. If you try to drive that Pete, I can predict your itinerary; It goes something like this: 50% distance from starting point to destination, mechanical failure sets in. Three workday wait on parts. Other Dog rides another dog home, (Greyhoud) due to backlog at Peterbilt dealership as many are in line ahead of him. Numerous cursing takes place with every other sentence being: "If I only drove a Mack, I'd be there now". Rob
  19. Yes but in the end the light from above shown through brightly, bringing guidance with the correct decision. Divine intervention? Rob
