  1. The first sign of being gay....
  2. I've got a 1693TA in my 78 R model Mack with a fresh "inframe" and I need to pull it due to massive oil leakage. This thing is loaded with red silicone and it is squeezed out of every nook and crannie the I've found and the engine is a mess. Rob
  3. It might be a good idea to seek maternal permission. Rob
  4. Ensure the sealing flange of the rocker cover is perfectly flat and not deformed in any fashion. Also use the black neoprene gaskets, and a bit of gasket cinch to keep it from moving. I've not had good luck with silicone in a high vibration environment. Rob
  5. Snapped a couple photos this evening. They were closed and didn't want to wear my welcome out. Don't know anything about it as far as powertrain. Rob
  6. Anybody remember these guys running the roads? I grew up on old 66 In both St. Louis, and Springfield, IL. I remember them well and was surprised to see this as a storage trailer. Rob
  7. She is in training to swing a baseball bat as hard, and with the blinding speed that Momma does..... You see, I'm not the one to fear. Rob
  8. Are you asking about an RL, or RS series of truck? They are available last I checked with Mack although quite costly to acquire. I'm sure the OEM R model style would also be available.
  9. Other Dog has the broadest shoulders of anyone that I know. Only one person I've ever heard of that would take more blame for our sins than him. Rob
  10. Other Dog!! See, he doesn't even need to be present to be judged. Rob
  11. Most of the younger set that I am around require massive entertainment and finest of whatever can be attained/acquired. It most always needs to be a tangible asset or is not right or fitting. Marriage seems to be an immediate gratification thing without the spiritual and emmotional commitment it is supposed to be. Hell, this don't have shit to do with trucks so I'm gonna shut up. Rob
  12. I'll get by there this afternoon and snap a couple photos. Rob
  13. Naw, she turned it off in and we had a long distance coffee "date". Ya know, 31 years being married to that girl and I still enjoy her company. Rob
  14. That is the basis of the offer. I would actually do very little but just enough to ensure that you did things right. I can be a pretty good teacher when it comes to auto body shop work. The pink paint is reserved for Other Dogs' mixer as "Miss Becky" would be pretty in pink. Rob
  15. Hi Albert, any way you can post a photo? I don't think I've ever seen what you describe dealing with the bleeder screws on hydraulic brakes. Thanks, Rob
  16. I seen something I thought pretty neat this afternoon running around in OKC. There is a large freight yard belonging to US Express that they run bright red tractors that have been increasingly Volvo dominated. Today there were about 75 Volvo tractors with the corporate names stripped off and at least that many brand new Mack tractors that were as of yet unlettered. Kinda nice to see that. Rob
  17. Yes, they are the ones that bear the brunt of the negatives. Rob
  18. That is a good looking "F" model there Underdog. You are correct in that the white roof will reflect the heat a lot greater than a red one which actually does absorb a lot os solar radiation, (hence the early fading experienced in the pigment). If you want to commute to my place and work your ass off to repaint it over a weekend and a couple of days I'll help you. Would save you quite a few bucks as I work pretty cheap when the owner is providing most of the manual labor. I've got a real nice gallon of Pink paint that we were going to use on Other Dogs' mixer cab but he needs to wait until next year to paint the truck. I don't want the paint going stale, so we could use it on your truck. I know what you're thinking: "What a guy"!! I'm serious about the repaint. I could have the guy come by and stencil "Miss Polly Purebread" on when finished!! Rob
  19. I actually watch a sermon every Sunday morning after making breakfast with my wife. THis pastor I kinda like cause he doesn't judge the depth of your faith by the generosity of your pocketbook. Since I'm away at technical training at OKC, I called her this morning to ensure she did not miss it and guess what; It was overridden by tennis on the airwaves. Now I don't know about the rest of you guys but any game that has two male individuals playing with each other, and LOVE is any part of the game/score, I don't need no part of. Rob

    Alf

I had about forgot the marketing items from that show. My son and I used to watch it every week and he also had Alf "undies" and plenty of comic/coloring books. Ahhh, the good old days when all the family could be together and share a good time. Rob
  21. Paul offers very good advice and you should download and print a diagram for your own usage when taking apart and reassembling the parts. I have found it most cost effective to have the original brake shoes relined. I have had several shoes relined and was given the opportunity to pick the type of friction material best suited for my needs. Most parts houses will not offer that type of service for old or "non current" parts. Good luck with your project. Rob
  22. Certainly glad to be of help. They have a large and varying inventory. I'm outside of Peoria and whenever I order something from them it always arrives the next day; never backordered. Sometimes, (not always) they are a little more expensive than if you shop around, but for the convienience of the one stop shopping they offer, it is worth it. For me, they are consistently less expensive than Fastenal for fasteners of most types. Rob
  23. I remember that "gauntlet" that was IL, MO, and AR that limited trucks to 73,280. Trucker bitched, (rightfully so) a lot about it being that I was from central IL, and grew up in St. Louis. There was no real easy way around it cause the whole center of the states was blanketed. I don't know how prevelant the portables were in those days but remember a couple outfits getting busted for being overweight. Both IL, and MO just loved to write tickets and collect money and I'm sure they still do. It's not just the Fed's with the trucking that is screwed up in general. I don't think a federal agency has more resident experts without experience than the FAA. A single example is that 4.5 years ago they implemented a software package they invested 16.8 million dollars into and pulled it three weeks later because it was so full of flaws. It has not been replaced and we operate on the older systems that were in place for a decade, (literally) prior to this implementation to this day. What is so ironic is the letters that were sent to employees threatening disciplinary action if the training courses for this package were not completed prior to it's launch. The way things are done in Govt. need to change. Here is another example: The bi-annual employee attitude survey results were released on the 22nd of May and the FAA ranked 422 out of the 435 federal agencies least desirable to work at. Such a milestone to acheive. This, negative acheivement is just like the federal agency that regulates trucking. It is from implementation of policies without consulting those that must operate with it. I'm quite sure there is more involved than I'll ever know but we cannot sustain the current path and prosper. Those in political power need to learn to pay for existing programs before implementing new ones. Who do they think will pay for this "Rebuild America" program that is being implemented now? Our grandkids, that's who, and possibly their kids! If credit remains so easy to get hold of we will never climb out of our delimma, just postpone it further. Who is going to bail us out "next time"? Rob
  24. Damn, now I don't have to get out the poduim, nor purchase the air time, nor reserve the space to deliver my speech that will accomplish nothing in a great span of time. The only negative impact is that I cannot further my own agenda. Well shit. Now I gotta find something else to do on the Sunday morning. Rob
  25. Actually, She always says, "Quality, not Quantity". Must fit me well. Rob
