  1. Well after all the effort expended by my daughter, the car is finally back in her possession; Here's a few progress photos: All I did was pull the frame, and spray the color(s). She did everything else. Good enough work I'd put my name on it. Pretty handy girl to have around. I surprised her by having her horses' name put on the sail panels and that action "got the trap to flap". No particular order to the photos. They seem to post as they wish but I uploaded in order. Rob
  2. Hi there, I'm needing a photo of the older "R" model, (66-72 model years) dashboard installed in a truck. I've got one of these, but it's been apart for several years, and need the photo for comparison to help a friend out with his. All of my other "R" models are later model and have the plastic dashboards. Thanks for the help. Rob
  3. Still think I've got room in the shop for that one. Rob
  4. Naw, I was just looking to "get her goat". She commented that we was gonna need to reduce costs to keep me fed, so she named off six of my trucks to "junk". Never thought I'd get such a rise outta her though!! That A-40 is our favorite truck. It'll never be sold. Rob
  5. We can't let these two meet. Lord only knows where we would be after that. Rob
  6. Hi Grant, they were a weak link in the gearbox. I've seen several broken, but always replaced the complete gear assy with salvage parts as they used to be very common. Rob
  7. Avoid, and stay out of her hair for a few days. She will come to reason the prudence of your decisions. Rob
  8. You know, after 31 years of being married to my sweetheart, you'd think I'd know what not to do to make her unhappy with me. Well, I guess after all this time, there are still some things to learn. One is this: Don't place a "For Sale" sign on her truck!! Girl was INSTANTLY mad, (and I mean MAD) at me for this; (I only wished she was as nice as an old wet hen when that way). Made me give her the title, (she did) and locked it in the strongbox which I do not know the combination for. Wonder if I'll sleep on the couch tonight; awhhh hell: I already know the answer to that one. Rob
  9. Paul is correct in his post with the lead time. While either rebuilder will get it done in two days or less, they are both located in the western part of the country. Transit time would be much greater than the actual rebuild time. Rob
  10. I had an 89 CS-300 series truck that was about the same wheelbase as the first photo of the CS-250 posted. I do believe you would be able to stuff an E6 series engine into the chassis as the production 8.8ltr engine that I had was about the same length overall as an E6. You would need to drive the cooling fan from the crankshaft as the radiator deoes sit very low, or use an electric driven fan. I think if you were to drive the cooling fan in the conventional mounting style, part of the fan blades would be higher than the core. The underhood area of the truck is unobstructed and would easily fit the exhaust and such without modification. In fact, the E6-350 I have was purchased for this application should it had become necessary. I was told by the Mack dealer at the time, (1997) that the cost to rebuild on of those engines was about $15,000 complete from them, and about $6200.00 for parts only. Culligan water softners had a fleet of them and there was always one, or two with major work being performed. I can see why that truck would be popular for racing. It was nearly unexcelled for outer perimeter vision and turning circle. I had a 24 ft. rollback bed on mine with a 162" (CA) length and could turn that truck around as quickly as a truck 3/4 of it's length. The driving position was very comfortable for me and the cab was very quiet to operate in. Mine was black with stainless wheel skins, and always kept clean. I had a lot of business due to that truck from recognition; Sorta like you and Pedros' trucks. That is truly one that I miss having not only from a standpoint of convienience but it was just plain handy. I have nothing bad to say about the midliners except parts availability on the aftermarket side. It was most fortunate for me the support the Mack dealers provided at that time. Now that the truck is discontinued, and with Volvo ownership, I don't know about the parts support any longer. Rob
  11. Mural or not, I'd reserve a space in the shop for that one!! Rob
  12. WOW. You really are beyond reach.
  13. Here is what you "love for these trucks" amounts to. This, as you can tell is your own words/post. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?showtopic=8847 You are weak in character by reasons addressed prior. I am now finished with this subject as it is my belief you are incapable of practial reasoning at this time. This is a byproduct of a lower that average intelligence quotient, (90-92) mentioned in a prior post, (this of course is my estimation). I do not make that statement based on anger, or ill will towards you; It is simply a clinically proven fact in human behavior patterns that applies to you as a "textbook case". Again the commonly applied name to this handicap is "retarded". To break that down further would be a case of mild retardation as you are capable of funtioning normally within society at times. Once again I mean no disrespect to you personally. It would be in your best interest to seek professional counseling to introduce peace, tranquillity, and stability into your life. You will then have a positive outlook to release you from the "threatning envelope" in which you exist. Rob
  14. Hi Meado. The box number is HF642884 and the series is an HF64. Google Pro Steering, Steering Specialists, and a number of others. Most of the input shafts were the same on thos Ross boxes just the orientation, and mountings were different. I've never purchased an input shaft for one but they usually cost about $420.00 to get totally rebuilt plus freight with either of those two companies. The HF64 series is rated to a 12,000# steer axle. Normally a good box but prone to leakage from what I've experienced. Rob
  15. Hi Ken, they have went up. I priced that setup for $1430.00FOB CA in January. I was looking to upgrade a Reyco four spring and this setup is only used on the rear axle. I'm going to hold out for a complete cut off and have evaluated a couple already with help from this board. Rob
  16. I am going to address this response in the order of which you posted it: "Mind my own business"? You made this my business with your original post responding to mine; You also set the tone of how business was to be conducted. Under normal circumstances I am very passive, but you demanded otherwise; This of course meaning aggressive. The term "keyboard commando" has already been addressed, (quite eloquently I may add) and the original post was misdirected by 180 degrees. "That guy". Hmmm, let's evaluate this further; If anyone has an issue, or problem with me personally, I welcome the opportunity to work things out. Misunderstandings can, and do happen. The lines of communication must remain open for solutions to these impediments to progress. Business is a two sided affair. Repeat business is essential to my continued success. So far, no one has approached so I can only discount your offensive overtone at this time. "Him". See above paragraph citing the same meaning. If you are interested in placing this ordeal behind you and moving forward, you will have no problem sincerely apologizing to myself, and the congregation of BMT participants very publically, and openly, as is the way you chose to attack, and discredit me. I feel a "real man" would "swallow their pride" to do the right thing. I'm not personally looking to embarrass you, but do feel it is the "right thing to do". We all make mistakes, we are human. It is how we rectify what we have done wrong that matters. I ask: "Are you that kind of man"? I am not expecting a favorable response. Rob
  17. Hi there, that is what I was trying to relay. The air was escaping around the "O" rings on that piston. It is a common area to give problems. I've seen several rings scored or cut upon installation or inadequate lubrication by experienced mechanics. Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us. I proved mine leaking in that are by removing the top cover, inverting it on a bench with 60 psi of air pressure applied, and feeling the escaping rush of compressed air. A new ring kit from Mack and all is good. Glad to hear you got it repaired again. It should serve you well for a long time. Rob
  18. yada, yada, yada. Must be when the formal name change to "stubby" took place, ehh? Rob
  19. American Carrier Superride. Here you go. The rear air suspension is listed near the bottom of the page. http://trailer1.com/ Rob
  20. Well thank you Joe. The overwhelming support I have received from both BMT, and the ATHS site has been touching to say the least concerning this matter. The subject will have no bearing on my desire to continue as before; Even with this "minor" annoyance present. Again, thanks to all for the support. Rob
  21. Sorry to all but had to "fix that post"!! Rob
  22. Monty, I've got the codes for both colors. Which brand of paint do you prefer and I'll get the formula converted if you cannot use "Sikkens" brand. Rob
  23. Yes, that Cat V12 is large also. There is one here local that I can get right that was in a large Steiger tractor as a prototype. It was tested by some friends out at the proving grounds in Peoria, county. I'm not sure of the horsepower/torque ratings they finally acheived with it but a couple of the guys dyno'd it in 1997 with 1435hp@ 1630 rpm after doing a little head, and turbo work. I've personally seen two transmissions out of that tractor that had the cases exploded from the torque they were subjected to. Both were Fuller. I don't know how a guy would keep that cool in an on road vehicle but the engine test cell there is set to take near whatever they can bolt down. 435kw is a hell of a set. I've got bigger but that is a lot of available power. The average fuel consumption on something sized like that is about 11 gallons per hour, so a bit costly to operate. Be sure to tell Jimmy hi for me. Thanks, Rob
  24. I'll know in a couple of months!! Really looking forward to this "project". This engine started at 585hp@1800 rpm. I've got larger injectors for it and a few other things to do yet. First time I really stick the old foot into it I'll know if larger turbochargers are in order. Rob
  25. I am???, I have???? I simply linked your "for sale" ad for this truck on our BMT site to the ATHS website where you cannot have these "for sale" ads. Also stated that I didn't believe that you had an interest in antique trucks for what they are. Thought I was helping you out. How ungrateful of you to call me "Troll", "A-Hole", and such on an open forum. Myself, I try to help as many folks out with their antique restorations and problems as I can. Much of my advice is readily accepted as it is from my background, and experience, which I openly share with most participants. However, at this point, I feel you are no more than a "used car salesman" with a new twist; Predatory, if you will. Persons with your type of combative, belligerant, and arrogant attitude typically place a solid 90-92 on a standard battery aptitude test, (IQ). A score of 100 bears the equal of average intelligence in humans. This makes your problems legitimately "not completely your fault", therfore 100% blame cannot effectively be placed squarly upon you given your lack of intellegence. The common phrase for this is handicap is referred to as "Retarded", without reference to any other person. Although it is highly unusual for me to participate in in this type of behavior, I must admit defeat in that I can't fix your stupidity. You heard it here first: "I can't fix stupid"; won't even try. Now you do have the option to exit the same way you came without delay. Personally, I prefer you exercise that option. We have, and would exist perfectly fine without the likes of you; However with a realignment of your attitude and posting habits, even I could welcome your participation and involvement. There are a lot of good people on this site and we hold each other in high regards, while being respectful of others' opinions. I speak for the majority when I say you are welcome here; Your prior posts are not, and are a confliction of what makes this site great. Regards; Rob
