  1. about 29 miles east as the crow flies. Rob
  2. Worked great with good detail. Other dog's been out driving his Pete again as the hallucinatory effects are taking hold early in the week. Rob
  3. I'll donate the topcoat if you paint the truck my favorite shade of PINK!! You could then name the truck "Blushing Macho"!! Rob
  4. Glad to see you again. Sorry you get stuck in a Pete. Welcome back!! Rob
  5. She used to drive my rollback in the homecoming parade for the high school. I think she's driven the dump truck, but don't remember when. Don't cut her short on abilities; she's been around me far to long to be weak. Girl can be as foul as a drunken sailor when mad; (from her mother's side of the family). Rob
  6. Yeah, the 89 to mid 90's Cougars and T. birds were terrible but popular. Sure fixed a lot of them over the years. Put a lot of steering columns in the Cougars cause the bearings did not hold up. I bought an 89 "Super Coupe" total at auction and was going to build me a high power sand buggy but after sitting a couple of years, I decided that the "Call of the Mack" was stronger so I parted it out. Those Monte Carlo's have been a pretty good platform. The dash likes to rattle in a lot of them, and some things are cheaply assembled, (no insult intended), but overall a pretty good/reliable car. Just don't get that 3.4 ltr engine hot. Keep the door hinges lubed about once a month. They love to eat them things! Rob
  7. Little more progress. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/51Mack/
  8. PIA is the identifier for Peoria. I used to maintain the landing lights, and tower genset at Galesburg but Moline does now. They are closer. We used to work there quite a bit until the controller's strike in 81 when president Reagan fired all of em. The tower was never reopened, the field turned over to the park district, and went to uncontrolled FBO. Rob
  9. That is EXACTLY what I would do if I could have it. I've endured a lot of physical pain in my life but never the kind that Momma swears she'll subject me to if I bring home another truck without "thinning" my herd first. Rob
  10. Yes, she can do most anything in the shop or on the trucks anymore. When she asks questions, I help and guide but she does almost all labor operations. That car is a real bitch to drive in the winter. It usually stays parked and she drives one of my "shop cars". Rob
  11. No, that is Marty, a good friend helping move dirt for the shop. The truck is mine, (51 A-40). I was in the backhoe getting ready to start leveling and took the photos so he could show his wife. Those are the only ones that made it through my computer data loss cause they were on photobucket. Rob
  12. Daughter was traveling to school on ice covered hiway doing about 45mph in a stiff cross breeze when a "modern day" wheel holder, (Probably driving a Pete) blew past at about 60mph. The interruption of the wind blast, and then subsequent rush of air after passing, shoved the car to the right losing traction into the grass of the shoulder. Unable to stop, or steer, she lightly impacted a large exit sign that stopped the car abruptly. Nobody hurt, but left with a repair bill that could be quite expensive. I had told her that the next time she wrecked a car, she would fix it. Well the time is now. With my help, she is making the repair. Here is a link to tonight's progress. Damn camera malfunctioned when daughter went to snap my photo. I was even wearing the "Chick Magnet" shirt. Rob http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/51Mack/
  13. I use my camera software that came with the camera. You can also do it with windows picture viewer software. Rob
  14. Resize the photos to 640X480 resolution before posting. Rob
  15. Any oil meeting the specification for usage in a diesel engine will work. Diesel rated oils have the designation beginning with a "C" such as "CE", "CF", "CG", and so forth where oils for gasoline engines are rates with "SE", and such. I would not hesitate to run a good quality oil such as Shell Rotella, Chevron Delo, Mobil Delvac in a 15W40 formulation these days. When the B series of trucks were manufactured, many of the multigraded oils were not in existance as the polymers contained within had not been invented yet. Rob
  16. I would hang onto it if I were you. Pecker Nailers are not something you run across every day. Funny how they used to be so popular, and now they are no place to be found. Rob
  17. Don't listen to that Other Dog character; He'll be trying to convince you to buy a Pete. Rob
  18. I think that may do it in..... Rob
  19. Very nice looking truck from this vantage point. Good luck, and years of enjoyment from it. Rob
  20. Yes, I can only hope that the corrosive charateristics of Pete influence do not serve to negatively impact the further restoration of quality thus far. To stop further, and slow aggression/degradation for the effects of the dreaded "Red Oval" disease; The USDA recommends the placement of two tablets of "Tagamet" per 75 gallons #2 diesel fuel be placed into the fuel tank(s) prior to fillup. This has been proven effective in 3rd party evaluation and testing. I've never had the opportunity to test the theory and only believe what I've read. Rob
  21. Your way would be much faster if you were to staple their testicles to the floor rather than the affixing their peckers by other mechanical means. Thinking strictly along the lines of productivity of course. Rob
  22. You do things the hard way. I always just tied two chicken feet together with a 12 inch length of rope, then throw them over a tightly stretched rope between the sidewalls of the trailer and they hang store nicely. You can really get a lot of chickens in there within a short period or time. Chickens really get noisy for a short while but that subsides. The rest of the ride is perfectly quiet. Hate to have my Mario Lanza serenades interrupted while I enjoy my double mocha supreme from Starbucks. Rob
  23. Glad to be of help. Rob
  24. No you didn't. You may carry on. Rob
  25. You said it. IT must be true. Rob
