  1. Well, I wakes up this morning early feeling the effects of the half dozen KFC "Snackers" with Buffalo hot sauce I had for lunch yesterday, (I'm on a diet) and upon rising from my bed, and practically running bow legged to the bathroom while squeezing my cheeks, I plop down on the throne and what happens? The wax ring that seals the toilet to the floor EXPLODES sending wax flying all over my feet, the sink base, the bathtub, and floor! We just had the bathroom floor rebuilt and braced underneath yesterday with all new tile, (Momma's fault it was damaged). Well after finishing the first part of the morning routine, (S,S,S), I then jumped into the shower all progressed well, (for me). Just as I was drying off with shop towels, Momma comes in to run her bathwater; She doesn't take showers cause her knees never get wet and she can't bend over to scrub her feet anyways. As she is running her water, I, (being the loving husband that I am) proceed to make her oatmeal, and juice breakfast. When the water stops flowing the dog always runs in and lays beside her on the floor. Well about the time the microwave shuts off from cooking the oats, in the distance I hear a big "thud", "splash", and the dog yelping! I then see the ensuing flood waters running down the hall. Seems Momma slipped while entering the tub, and that mass promptly displaced damn near all the bathwater nearly drowning the dog!! Took a while to get the mess soaked up. Wonder what the rest of the day holds in store cause it just don't get no better than this. Rob

    Recap Tires:

Thanks guys, I've always heard that Bandag was a good brand, just have no experience with them at all. I've only had a single pair of "capped" tires and they were replaced because of being worn out. I purchased the truck and replaced the tires shortly afterward. I need to purchase tires for three trucks this year and was wondering about the drives. I know they can't be run on the steer axles. Thanks again. Rob

    Recap Tires:

Hey what do you guys know and think of recapped tires? Any brands better than others? Any to avoid? I'm gonna need to buy a bunch of tires this year and have never had caps so looking for input other than a selling dealer. Thanks, Rob
  4. Actually she is. Her charming disposition disappears when the twin valleys between her triple chin roll(s) starts to sweat. Rob
  5. I give up cause I'm weak. Who is it? Rob
  6. Look on your tanks for a 1/4" plastic line. It could be picked off of a wet, or dry tank, or a manifold mounted to the cab. I don't know a thing about an MB series truck as far a layout. Rob
  7. That is what I can't imagine myself; It being effective on a tandem only applied to the rear axle. I'm leaning more towards the Neway or Hendickson type as this truck probably will never see any dirt or off road action. I'm planning to install a small sleeper/cabin and some sort of hauler bed like the "hot shot" guys use. I've got a complete rolling long frame from a burnt R model, (cab & hood fire) with Neway under it, but that is slated for Project "R-12" I can hear Momma's mouth already if it doesn't have an air ride..... Sure wish it were quieter too. Rob
  8. Ohhh Man, don't do that. I'll get another one of my complexes going........ Does nobody like me???????? Rob
  9. Looks like a lot of revenue from the past sitting in those photos. They've worked hard and deserve the rest they're enjoying. Thanks for the photos. Rob
  10. Don't really have rodents cause of the cat but he is a real "Pussy". Runs like hell for out of doors as soon as I start a truck.... Thanks for the comment on the shop. My greatest achievement outside of family. Rob
  11. I really don't know that much about any suspension. If the frame were steel in this truck I would have much less hesitation to graft a cutoff onto it. This truck is serial number 001 of it's series, so don't want to do much to alter it. It is set up as built new, now. Little things like creature comforts are ok by me, but really don't want to go much further than that. I've heard a lot of guys that liked Reyco very well, and others that did not. The bushings and all mounting points are very tight and the truck is mechanically sound, (I believe). I would like for it to have less backslap through the frame and I know it will with a load on, but that will not be it's primary purpose as it will be a commuter. Rob
  12. 1988 Superliner I think the Superliner is on ebay with a starting bid of $11,000.00 stating the engine has problems. Lots of money considering how expensive that engine is to repair. Could be a different truck though. Rob
  13. Had both overhead doors open and they are 14' high, by 18' wide. Still takes a while for the exhaust to clear out without a strong breeze. Rob Rob
  14. Anything better out there that anyone has experience with? To use this one I would need to pull my pintle hitch and refabricate the mount because the existing one is in the way. My frame is aluminum so don't want to butcher it up either. Thanks, Rob
  15. First thing I would do is take the discharge of the compressor loose to make sure that unit is moving air through it. If it is, reconnect, and if there is a check valve, remove it and verify that it is not stuck disallowing free flow into the receiver, (wet tank). Rob
  16. Hi Herb, actually I charged each truck with shop air to 100 pounds, started them, then RAN outside. I thought the scene was comical so I snapped the photos. Hard to breath when it is like that. Rob
  17. I've been looking to try to go with an air ride conversion for my RL. A friend told me about this company in Fresno, CA and I called them. It is a ready made rear air setup that is complete except for some minor fittings. They say that this only goes on the rear axle of a tandem and reduces the jarring or shock loading by 60% that is transmitted to the truck frame. Would using one air bag support system ride very well? The truck currently has Reyco four spring suspension and all but the rear spring hangers are retained. Rob
  18. Just burns my eyes. Rob
  19. Haven't had the shop up to temp in a few days and needed to move both R models. Both trucks started easily, but the red one doesn't really run smooth for several moments. Both smoke terrible when cold. Hard to breath when it's like this: Rob
  20. I never get sick of trying to help someone with a legitimate problem. I can't help much with the dual line setup as I've never seen it. My service manual does not show that at all. In fact, all the shift covers still show the adjusting nut FJH states was discontinued/changed. Rob
  21. And I wasn't invited?? A little Tabasco sauce to go with that fine cuisine and I'd be set. Rob
  22. Damn there Knobby!! How the Hell was Siberia????? I sure missed ya!! Rob
  23. Remove the exhaust piping from the compressor and ensure it is pumping air. If not, valves that "should be good", may not be. New is not always good. If the compressor is not pumping air from the exhaust, it cannot pull air in the intake. This would be a case of the valves not sealing, or installed incorrectly. An air compressor is nothing but a pump that elevates atmospheric pressure to higher than ambient when the discharge is exhausted into an air receiver, (tank). It will not build pressure if the exhaust is open, but rather pass the air through. My vote is that you either have an open in your discharge line, massive leak, or mechanical deficiencies with your compressor rebuild. The truck running is too noisy to hear an air leak. Plug shop air into the "wet tank", (first tank compressor discharges into) and listen for air leaks. If none heard, spray a soap bubble solution over all connections and lines. You will either find the source of your leak, or prove the compressor needs rework. Rob
  24. Everybody says I'm full of it. Rob
  25. Use Mapp gas Greg. Propane will not concentrate the heat as needed due to lack of BTU content in the fuel gas. Rob
