  1. It worked very well together too. Didn't matter on, or off road, the gearing in the rears put that engine/trans combo right where everything needed to be. Good low, and good high ranges for most any task. Mack however, charged entirely too much for parts to keep them operational and there were many updates to that transmission with each improving on the base unit. I don't think it should have been done that way but there were many out there so whom am I to complain.....
  2. Guess it depended upon union relations, whom was at work, whom was home sick, available stock on any day the truck was built then. Seems like a strange way to do it but Chrysler only placed their Pentastar emblems on the lower right front fender of their vehicles for many years too.

That valve look familiar but I've never had mine out of the truck. I'll be out to the shop in a bit and have a look see.
  4. I'm going to send you every Peterbilt I own.....
  5. Would you mind verifying the Econodyne badge on your hood is "stud mounted" rather than adhesive mounted? Easy to do by flipping the hood open and seeing if there are speed nuts gripping the mounting studs through the hood. If there are no studs protruding through the hood, it is adhesive mount and those emblems are known to fall over through heat/age/exposure. Of course stud mount emblems fall off also but they leave holes in the hood..... I/we have repaired, rebuilt, replaced many "RW" series hoods through the years and I've never seen emblems applied to only one side of the hood and again speaking for myself only. Appreciate your help.

I think my A-40 has an E-3 series valve in it but I'll try to remember to verify. I had found a kit to go through mine, (20 or so years ago) but never needed to and it seems like that was the nearest valve in appearance.

    R700 MACK

Looks like a 10 speed TRDL-107, or TRDL-1070 to me. Unless the toggle on top of the dash and red side marker installed into the dash panel was for low range. Neither were original to 1979.
  8. I had one of them and a 79 Warlock. Both pretty nice trucks but both were just cleaned up and sold.

    Surprised me:

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up then. At least ole "Momma" moves kinda slow. I've learned though when she gets to leaning, get the hell out of the way cause momentum is not in your favor if contact is made.
  10. I've never seen emblems on the side of an RW hood originally except "Mack", V8, and the emblems calling out the E9-500. Never have seen "Econodyne", nor "Maxidyne" on the hoods of the RW series. I'm only speaking for myself. The E6-350 is not a "Maxidyne" series engine however.
  11. Thanks. I have an extra pump which does not have the valve installed; hence the reason I went with a replacment rather than rebuild. A rebuild set could not be located but it's probably standard parts internally and when I have the replacement, I'll take the original apart to see what's inside. Hopefully get both pumps serviceable.
  12. Valve was researched, found and ordered. No lead time but should be a couple of weeks. Thanks for the help. Rob
  13. Nothing except he was an "extra" in the movie "Deliverance" with Burt Reynolds.
  14. We have corn stalks go through tires a lot. With "no till" farming those things remain pointing up and as they dry over the winter months, become quite stiff.
  15. I vaguely remember that truck seemingly the butt of all Peterbilt jokes. But, I have forgotten a few things since those days and could be mistaken.
  16. Got some part numbers and seeing if they are still available through Mack. If not I have a couple other options but that may take some time.... I could install an external check valve but would rather have the repair correct. I've recently strung all new fuel lines on the truck and don't want to remove them again.
  17. If you lift the shift boot on the floor you will be able to tell if there is an isolator there. If the shifter handle goes straight into the top cover adapter, there is not one. The isolator looks like an addition to the shifter handle.
  18. Very easy to change or rebuild on the six cylinder engine. It is the brass part on the side at the rear of the pump with the fuel hose connected. Take it off and apart, clean it up or replace anything that is worn and put it back together. That valve regulates gallery pressure inside the pump and bleeds excess back to tank. It's called a regulator on the sixes, and overflow on the V8's but does the same thing.

    Surprised me:

We just had the front room plastered a few months ago and reverberations through the house when she walks has already started it to cracking so I'm "cracking down". I'm getting tired of scraping out her toenail cheese cause she can't reach down that far too. Isn't too bad till she starts getting some feeling back into the feet after setting for a few minutes relieving them of the extreme compression/ weight release cause then she starts that giggling shit on me.

    Surprised me:

She reads everything I post believe it or not as I have nothing to hide. One of her favorite responses is; "I'm just gonna have to nut you". Which shuts me up for a spell.....
  21. I didn't see nuthin mean in any comments. Grass fed is typically "leaner" meat so you done well my friend. I could throw "Momma" up onto my shoulder too; but I know my feet would catch fire as I busted through the gates of hell.
  22. Don't happen very often but "Momma" surely surprised me today. Says she was watching "Dr. Oz" on television and wants to start a "sensible" diet to lose 10 pounds per month. That would be 80 pounds by Christmas which would be a quarter of her weight now!!! Said my telling her to "turn" sideways when walking through doorways in the house to keep from rubbing the paint off the jambs "pushed" her to the decision. I'm really happy it wasn't because I called her "triple ripple" the world famous female midget mud wrestler in public because she really would have taken exception to that. Should see her when I talk about her lead, and two lieutenant chins as that tends to upset her too. Man that woman can cuss when she's annoyed with ole Rob..... Hopefully she'll stick with it this time but she will have a tough time giving up those two boxes of chocolate "Bon Bons" a day I know right off as we've hoed this row before.
  23. I'd be reliving my childhood riding on your "short bus".
  24. I'll get onto that in the morning. I usually have to get them to go into some other database as the trucks are old and they readily get back to me. Lot of times I am able to get part numbers and it saves some time. I checked with the fuel shop I've used several times in the past and they don't have anything on the V8 series pumps. Thanks,
  25. Must be a midwest thing cause we got plenty of "grain fed heifers" around here too.
