  3. An educated guess would be about 800 pounds if an iron carrier, with brake drums attached. Rob
  4. Somewhat greater than 12 pounds. Hope I was of some help. Rob
  5. Well shit, had to buy a brake drum. Plenty of "meat" in it yet but it's cracked. I found it with a "hammer" test. Dead giveaway with a "thud" rather than a ring. Oh well, $212.00 for a damned brake drum!! While there I decided I'm so far into this project so might as well install new races and bearings into the other wheels as I'll keep it. A little over $1100.00 later, I have all new wheel bearings, races, seals, hubcaps, synthetic hub oil, brake chamber clevises, and the new drum. I'm going broke fixing my own garbage cause there's no money in it. Tonight I started into the neck of the trailer. After formulating a plan of attack last evening, I took to slicing the rusted structural steel out first on the headboard, then moving into the main frame rails. Tomorrow I will pick up the steel beams that will be replacements. This is 14" by 26 pounds per ft. of beam, and the three crossmembers are 4X6 "jr" beam. I had them shear, brake, and bore a 5th wheel plate from 3/8th's plate today also. I have the new king pin already. Guess I better work on my welding skills in order....... One minor setback. I was torching out the front headboard panel and it fell from the trailer onto the plywood I'd placed for this purpose earlier. However, the piece of steel, (about 35 pounds) fell at an angle, bounced, and severed my oxygen line on the torch set as it landed. Thankful it was not the acetylene line or there could have been a serious fire as the torch was still burning in my hands. I always have a new, spare set of hoses so they were changed out. The former was about 25 years old and probably needed replaced anyway. No camera so no photos. Maybe tomorrow. Rob
  6. I was always partial to both the RD-406, and RD-450 "Red Diamond" International-Harvester engines. Pretty good balance of power and economy with a decent lifespan. The RD-501, although more powerful, was quite a bit harder on fuel and the time between rebuilds was sooner. Rob

  9. I'm shocked something would remind you of a "U" model.Rob
  10. Hope the surgery went well and a speedy recovery. I drank my first Coke in nine months over the weekend. Surprised I didn't even miss them and I used to put down about four per day. Can't seem to lose any weight though. Rob
  11. Drove into work just a bit ago and what I suspect seems to be true. The fox that was expired on the driveway is being consumed by his sibling. I viewed another of the offspring carrying the carcass across the yard. After seeing me getting out of my Jeep, he darted off into the bushes and looking at the body, it's clear it was the other young fox about half gone. I've not seen the racoon babies again. They have departed their normal sleeping tree moving along. Nature at work I suppose. Rob

  13. I could do that but time is the thing I'm lacking. How much of a hurry are you in? I think after cutting everything to length I only spent about three hours clamping and welding them together.I killed the batteries in the camera earlier today so I'll snap you a photo tomorrow of these. I had $243.78 in materials plus the cost of wire, shielding gas, (argon), and electricity.
  14. I'm sure he voted Obama for president, and plans to again. Rob
  15. The owner was asking for a value and that is was not for sale as he had too much in it. It is an R747. I stored the photos, (same as in ad) on July 4th, 2011. Who knows how old they are.Rob
  16. I built my aluminum ramps eight feet long, sixteen inches wide out of three inch channel, and three by three angle with the peaks spaced four inches apart. I figured to support 10,000# rolling up the incline and I've not bent them yet. They are light enough to carry one in each hand but kinda unweildy due to length. Rob
  17. I"m kinda surprised to see it advertised but it's an eastern R767? I'm sticking to my guns with the westerns.Rob
  18. Remember this one from about a year ago? Rob http://raleigh.craigslist.org/grd/3045476498.html
  19. I think the fox in the photo sacrificed his brother for something to eat. The body was gone less than an hour after I snapped the photo. There is nobody else that comes into the compound. Rob
  20. In the abandoned air force station one of my radars is located in there is a new family of racoons, and red fox. I've only seen a pair of the racoon babies and the mother is close most times. I can get within about five feet or so before they get scared. The mother will yakk at me from a distance voicing displeasure. Yesterday afternoon I caught them in a tree: This morning I seen the fox family making it's trek around the grounds but by the time I got the camera out, was only able to get a shot of one pup before he headed off into a culvert. There is 39 acres to this compound so I never know where they will be. Unfortunately, one did not survive the night; he is chewed up pretty good and in the middle of the road. I see them running around nearly every day but they usually run off when I get within 20 feet or so. Rob
  21. That's right, another b'day boy today. Can't however claim the "over the hill" title as of yet. Have a good one. Rob
  22. Don't eat there myself. I'm watching my weight and artery clogging intake.Rob
  23. Should be a BDSL series transmission. Use 90W gear oil.Rob
  24. I'll snap a few tomorrow. "Momma" had my camera with her tonight.Rob
