  1. The new curator is Mike Kitsock from the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society in Shenandoah. He and his crew (Pete, Blackie...) have done a great job with their museum and their collection. Mike never worked for Mack, but their collection leans toward Macks. My AC pumper is on display their right now. I am also a life member. If you have never been to their Museum it is a good destination but make sure they will take you to the warehouse where there are about 60 other trucks owned by the museum and members. I don't know if they will actually take non members but membership is cheap. They are restoring a steel dash R model as their transport truck. My father gave them a nice cab for it. I gave them the 1941 ALF tillered ladder that my father's B85 was made to pull. I was never going to do anything with it. Anyway, Mike is a good guy. I spoke to him yesterday. He said he has been at the Mack museum since March so it is no surprise. Mike
  2. Not too long ago I discovered the miracles that are facebook groups. There is a group for everything. One that I find particularly entertaining is Abandoned and Neglected Vehicles. People post pictures of junk that has been rotting away for decades. They drag them out of the woods and claim they are going to fix them up. Well I never needed any encouragement to do this. A few months ago when I went to look at that U model in Kutztwown, I fell in love with some of the other junk they had around there so I bought them and had them hauled home. It was probably a big mistake. The scout doesn't have any floors left, but it turns over. We replaced the coil, points and condenser, but still not luck. The CJ doesn't have floor and both the engine and transmission are stuck. Mike
  3. Wow it really did get dark. I need a roll back like that. I have been paying to have stuff hauled around this winter. I should have bought that R model out here that someone tried to flip. What are the new owner's plans? Parts trucks? Restore? Inventory? I had bought a bunch of trucks in the past to save from the scrapper. Unfortunately that had to slow down dramatically after the township tagged all the cars and trucks I had sitting outside. I hate to see old trucks scrapped, but I don't have anywhere to go with them. Cost can add up quickly even if they are only a few hundred a piece. Did i miss something? What was the incident that made you more selective about prospective adoptive parents/ buyers? Mike
  4. I did a similar thing at Trucktoberfest last year. I found a hole in the line up of ABF's new trucks and put my AC in the middle. It looks tiny. Mike
  5. If you can wait a month I will get mine weighed when I have it out. Mike
  6. Yes, Don is retiring. And yes the hired someone from a fire truck museum. Don't know when they will make the announcement. Not my place to do it. Mike
  7. Beautiful truck. Welcome to the forum. I have one like it: 85LS1101. Delivered new to Boyertown PA in 1947. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/gallery/image/10134-1947-mack-85ls-1951-mack-405a-1979-gmc-7000/ I'll help if I can. Mike Greg, the grey thing is an air filter. Mine has one like it but my father took it off.
  8. I was wondering the age. I have seen several different styles but not sure what belongs on what.
  9. I'll see you there. I just bought this extinguisher on eBay. It a arrived today. Sorry it is sideways. Mike
  10. Tough to say from one picture, but $2500 for a complete RL with a V8 with problems still sounds like a decent price. Of course the buyer would have to be someone closer than 4000 miles away. Mike
  11. I'm looking out my kitchen window at those cooling towers right now.
  12. I guess you won't have room to pick up a Crackerbox for me in Colorado then. Mike
  13. Damn cell phone Shipping. It's out west right?
  14. Looks like a good buy. What do you thinks shook would be on that? If you don't mind me asking...
  15. It looks great for the price. The bulldog shredding the paper has value alone. There is one on eBay now for $500. Overpriced but still. Good luck.
  16. Let's see the pictures. I missed them if you already posted them. Mike
  17. I guess that is what you call a Michigan Train. Great pictures. Thanks. Mike
  18. A member here had two Day Elders burn up when his garage got set ablaze by the welding company next door. One was bought new by his grandfather and was the first truck shown and to receive an award at the AACA Hershey show. Mike
  19. This is an International V8. So is this one. Maybe that's not what you mean though. Mike
  20. I don't think I'll ever get out of my building. I should have never put this pickup chassis there.
  21. I see. Sorry can't help you. Everybody is looking for them. Ask Barry if he can have some more made. Mike
  22. They have these. http://www.wattstruckcenter.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_67&product_id=59. It's the set. Don't know if they would separate them. Mike
  23. No offense, but I thought you were dumb to sell it in the first place. I don't know what your circumstances were and all that, but I would have never gotten rid of that truck. I saw a picture of it last week and wished I had bought it. If that was the case you would not have it back right now. Congratulations. Don't make the same mistake twice. Mike
