  1. Posting pictures is tough. Go to "more reply options" in the lower right. Then "chose file" in the lower left. Pick the file. Then "attach this file". Then "add to post" to the right of the small picture. . This is Harrisburg PA ex ladder 12. Wish it was mine. Mike.
  2. Sorry, I did not get to look at the cab yesterday. I spent the day playing with my new B85. It just got delivered yesterday and now I am back to work. It will probably be until next Friday when I have my next day off. Lets see some pictures of your truck. Mike
  3. Congrats. Nice to see the old dog will still be doing what it was made to do. I'm sure there are a lot of good year left in it. Mike
  4. I hope to have it at Trucktoberfest and Mack Day. Some papers that came with the truck say that B85F1384 and 1385 were the 146' ladders and were delivered January 6 and February 15 of 1960 respectively.
  5. 6 nuts versus 10. Both that you pictured are tubeless but both were made in tube type in the past. Get what you like. Mike
  6. Thanks. The truck was in no danger though. I got it from Andy Henderson of Marietta NY. I don't have an answer for that. These are the only B85's like that. Maybe they are still B85's because they are powered by the 707.
  7. There are really too many variables to say one is better than the other. The aluminum wheel is light and fancier. The Dayton is cheaper and easier to change the tire. Are you more concerned about weight, cost, appearance or originality?
  8. I have several. I'm just outside of Boyertown. You are welcome to come over and look. You better know what you need though. Mike
  9. I had a delivery today. A 1959 Mack Magirus. It was originally delivered to the City of Chicago on August 16, 1959. There were two trucks on the order B85F1379 and 1380. This is the former. They both had 100' rear mount Magirus ladders. Chicago took delivery of two more almost identical trucks in 1960. These had 146' Magirus ladders. Of the four, this is the sole survivor. Mike.
  10. I have a full open cab from a B85 out of Reading PA. The cab is pretty goo, but the floor is gone. The cab is off the truck and stored in a trailer. The rest of the truck is junk. I would be willing to sell it. It is located in Boyertown PA. Lets see some pictures of your truck. Mike
  11. I was shown Mack paperwork for A models that said "X=excavator". It did not specify heavy duty on the paper. I don't know how to interpret it, but that is what is said. Most B models I have seen with an X have heavier axles, but I have a B42X single axle dump truck that is not a heavy truck. I have a B 42S that is a tandem dump, ,but with no heavy components. I have a B42SX that had a tar body on it that has very heavy axles. I am no expert, just passing along what I have seen. Mike
  12. Great buy. I would love one of them. I'm a Chevy guy myself and who couldn't use a rollback? I bet you are envious of Superdog's new R model. Sounds like you are going to keep the General. I'm glad to here that.
  13. I have a 1985 MH with 2 million miles on it. When went to pick it up the guy I got it from (39babymack's brother) was draining the transmission because it had water in it. It sat out at home for a couple months and when we checked it again it had water in it. It was drained and refilled. It was kept inside since and not out of the building in 2 years. but was rained on at several shows. When we checked it over to take to macungie this year it had water in it again. The breather seemed ok. My father looked for cracks in the housing before but this time he found a bolt was missing on the top cap/plate. It was under a cable so it could not be seen. I am hoping that was the cause. I have not checked it since it got rained on at Macungie this year but I'll have to do that now. Sorry for the long message. Hopefully you have already solved your problem. Mike.
  14. Diamond T was started in 1911 by Charles Tilt and named after is father's shoe business which used the diamond as a sign of quality and T for Tilt. Reo was started in1904 by Ransome E Olds after selling Oldsmobile to GM. Both companies were purchased by White and combined into Diamond Reo in the 1960's. Mike
  15. Nice B models. I love them when they are original. The B61 even has Elston Sanders. What kind of body is that? Mike
  16. I have one in a B42 but don't know if it is big enough. It is in Boyertown PA. Mike
  17. Yahoo. I felt bad for you having to drive that blue thing when you have that nice white thing. Like you said, it pulled your trailer. I drove a Pinto for a while. I wasn't proud of it, but it got me where I was going. Mike
  18. I thought be could post all the U models in one place like the Superliners. I could not find another thread. Here is my submission. It was an tractor for Swan Oil before it was donated to Gilbertsville Fire Company PA. It was in beautiful condition when it was sold to the local dirt track(Grandview) to water the track. Gilbertsville also has another tractor trailer tanker and a straight truck tanker on a U chassis. I should have bought the other tanker to preserve it. I don't know where they ended up. And yes,Vinny, did get the serial number. Mike.
  19. This 361 is for sale near me. It has an 8V71 and a 13 speed(I think). It hasn't been run in 4 years but had not problems when it was last run. It has been off the road for 10 years. It has some rust. Worst in the fenders. He is asking $3500 for it. It is in boyertown pa. I am tempted but have spent my money on other junk. Mike
  20. Hub caps are nearly impossible to find. I found an NOS set at Macungie in 2009. They went on my C90. I am still looking for a set for my DC75. I had someone from Autocar call me looking for them for a truck they were restoring because he heard I found some. Good luck. I love Autocars too. They were made about 20 miles from my house. Mike
  21. Welcome to the forum and the MH Club. MH Fred will want your serial number. I have an 85 MH612 and my father has a 93 MH 612. Both were bought from 39 Baby Mack(Ron). If your original bumper is in good shape and you are willing to sell it I am interested. Mine is bent and Ron said the bumper to bumper warranty had expired 1,870,000 miles ago at 100,000. Anyway, let's see some pictures when you get it home. We all love pictures. Mike.
  22. I can't help you but I love your truck. You are lucky to have it. Welcome to the forum and good luck with it. Keep us posted. Mike
  23. I'll be there with my '79 GMC/E-One because it has seat belts. If we get the trailer inspected my father will bring out the AC. Definitely a must attend for me every year. Mike
