  1. Looks like fun. Sure got to see the country side. Maybe I'll come over for your next truck retrieval adventure. Mike
  2. Where are you located and what is he serial number on your B85? Thanks. Mike
  3. I love that white diamond t. It is huge and it is awesome.
  4. I work on Bulldogs and Huskies and Cat's and other critters at Limerick Veterinary Hospital. I was only a block from work when they flagged me down. They didn't even look at the truck once I told them it was not a commercial vehicle. They did ask what year it was before they took some pictures. I was told that there was a law passed in the 70's or so that required seatbelts to be retrofitted into earlier vehicles. I don't know if it is true or not. Most of my old truck don't have seat belts. It makes it hard to install a car seat. I pass Triad every day. They always have some really nice, new trucks in their yard and garage. There was a B model peaking out a bay a last year, but I did not stop and look at it. Mike
  5. I didn't have any trouble at all. They only looked at the truck cosmetically, not mechanically. I can't imagine it would pass with how strict they can be. No seat belts. No maxi-brakes. The brakes are probable a little out of adjustment. The could probably make up a laundry list. Mike
  6. My father and I moved some trucks around yesterday and we left the B70 so I could drive it to work today. I was almost to work and there was a police officer in the road at the fire station. I didn't know what was going on when he wave me in until I saw the DOT van. They were excited to have their "first big truck of the day" until I told them it was an antique. They weren't too disappointed and even took some pictures. I took some of them too. Mike
  7. Thanks for the pictures. I guess I should have gone. Congrats Ron. What got first? The green R belongs to Venezia Trucking out of Limerick PA. They are right down the road from where I work. http://veneziatransport.com/company-profile.html. They run mostly Internationals pulling tank trailers. It is a good sized operation. The R model was at Macungie this year right near Tackaberry's trucks. Someone said it was one of their fleet trucks. They also have a V190 International tractor and L120 International pickup that they show. The at model is a fresh restoration this year. I don't know what year or model it is. Mike.
  8. L model with a 707 in PA.
  9. Come on. You are letting us down. You have to take one for the team sometime.
  10. Thanks for the pictures. Is that H67 serial number plate on the F model? Did you check the frame rail? Mike
  11. Thanks for the pictures. Is you cab that bad that it is not salvageable? The truck looks pretty good in the pictures. Mike
  12. Dave Himmelright said the huskie stands there ready to pull while the bulldog is standing up looking around for he next pull. My dad had his B422 on a small lowboy that he had been pulling with his B66. The Brockway guys loved it when he showed up pulling it with his 758. A Brockway pulling a Mack was the way they thought it should be. Mike
  13. Posting pictures is tough. Go to "more reply options" in the lower right. Then "chose file" in the lower left. Pick the file. Then "attach this file". Then "add to post" to the right of the small picture. . This is Harrisburg PA ex ladder 12. Wish it was mine. Mike.
  14. Sorry, I did not get to look at the cab yesterday. I spent the day playing with my new B85. It just got delivered yesterday and now I am back to work. It will probably be until next Friday when I have my next day off. Lets see some pictures of your truck. Mike
  15. Congrats. Nice to see the old dog will still be doing what it was made to do. I'm sure there are a lot of good year left in it. Mike
  16. I hope to have it at Trucktoberfest and Mack Day. Some papers that came with the truck say that B85F1384 and 1385 were the 146' ladders and were delivered January 6 and February 15 of 1960 respectively.
  17. 6 nuts versus 10. Both that you pictured are tubeless but both were made in tube type in the past. Get what you like. Mike
  18. Thanks. The truck was in no danger though. I got it from Andy Henderson of Marietta NY. I don't have an answer for that. These are the only B85's like that. Maybe they are still B85's because they are powered by the 707.
  19. There are really too many variables to say one is better than the other. The aluminum wheel is light and fancier. The Dayton is cheaper and easier to change the tire. Are you more concerned about weight, cost, appearance or originality?
  20. I have several. I'm just outside of Boyertown. You are welcome to come over and look. You better know what you need though. Mike
  21. I had a delivery today. A 1959 Mack Magirus. It was originally delivered to the City of Chicago on August 16, 1959. There were two trucks on the order B85F1379 and 1380. This is the former. They both had 100' rear mount Magirus ladders. Chicago took delivery of two more almost identical trucks in 1960. These had 146' Magirus ladders. Of the four, this is the sole survivor. Mike.
  22. I have a full open cab from a B85 out of Reading PA. The cab is pretty goo, but the floor is gone. The cab is off the truck and stored in a trailer. The rest of the truck is junk. I would be willing to sell it. It is located in Boyertown PA. Lets see some pictures of your truck. Mike
  23. I was shown Mack paperwork for A models that said "X=excavator". It did not specify heavy duty on the paper. I don't know how to interpret it, but that is what is said. Most B models I have seen with an X have heavier axles, but I have a B42X single axle dump truck that is not a heavy truck. I have a B 42S that is a tandem dump, ,but with no heavy components. I have a B42SX that had a tar body on it that has very heavy axles. I am no expert, just passing along what I have seen. Mike
  24. Great buy. I would love one of them. I'm a Chevy guy myself and who couldn't use a rollback? I bet you are envious of Superdog's new R model. Sounds like you are going to keep the General. I'm glad to here that.
  25. I have a 1985 MH with 2 million miles on it. When went to pick it up the guy I got it from (39babymack's brother) was draining the transmission because it had water in it. It sat out at home for a couple months and when we checked it again it had water in it. It was drained and refilled. It was kept inside since and not out of the building in 2 years. but was rained on at several shows. When we checked it over to take to macungie this year it had water in it again. The breather seemed ok. My father looked for cracks in the housing before but this time he found a bolt was missing on the top cap/plate. It was under a cable so it could not be seen. I am hoping that was the cause. I have not checked it since it got rained on at Macungie this year but I'll have to do that now. Sorry for the long message. Hopefully you have already solved your problem. Mike.
