Kinda have a weird issue going on. One of my drivers called me and said the truck shut down and smoke coming from hood. Upon inspection realized the starter fried. We put a new starter in and few hours later the starter went again. After this we realized there's a short somewhere so we took the old battery box off the truck which had four batteries in it . We wanted to put a passenger fuel tank on that I had sitting around anyway. We pulled all the battery cables out of it and found a shaved wires we were like awesome we found the problem. we are going to go to two batteries and move battery box. We got new starter in and once again we realize that started is staying engaged somehow. the first time it was really noticeably because it was making noise. so we shut truck down and you can hear the starter slowing down from spinning. after that we kept testing and when you shut truck down you hear the started wind down. we tested the solenoid on the fire wall and the ignition wire has no power until you turn the key . when you let go off key to run the power turns off. it down think the starter is getting power and trying to start . I think its just not releasing so its staying engaged. any help with this.

Hello all I ordered a new hood for my 2008 mack granite and the hood doesn't fit. Im sending it back but having a hard time finding the right one . The vin number on my truck is 1M1AX07Y98M001244. The mack dealer gave me the old part number #82QM4158M and the new # 82049630. the weird thing is nothing shows up on google and rants truck parts also can't get those numbers to work. Does anyone on here have a hood I can buy or do you know the right number.

Hello all I'm in the market and currently looking at a 2008 mack granite with a mp8 engine in it . I went to look at it this past Sunday and it was about 20 degrees. The truck hadn't been started in a few months but took a lot of effort to start it. Once it was running it sounded good and ran fine. I let the truck get up to operating temp and pulled the oil fill cap and sip stick to look for blow by. Absolutely nothing which is good. I was Always taught to check the radiator expansion tank for pressure. The truck was at operating temp and there was pressure behind the cap and some squirted out. I also noticed the overflow side also had coolant in it. Is this normal . I assume there should be some pressure at operating temp but im unsure . I do also recall a bubble here and there in the expansion tank. The coolant was also right at the cap for the expansion tank. Once again no blow by or any smoke that I could see. The truck as also deleted and computer tuned. truck has 230,000 miles on it.

So the truck doesnt shack at all. It a up and down . Feels like there no weight on front end . Drives fine when no trailer on the back. Only gets real scary with volvo 160 on a lowboy. King pin is dead center of tandem i believe . Will confirm in am . I def feel the motor mount . Feels like engine gunna twist out of truck.

So today was the first day towing a low boy on my 92 superliner with 350. I noticed a front end bounce while cruising 45-50 mph. it was bad enough that it made me uncomfortable to say the least.it got new king pins. I did notice the motor is moving a lot so I think I have a broken engine mount. its going to mechanic in the am. any idea so I make sure he looks at everything.

Will post all that in a few days
-
Has the 350 in it . Would the vin number be any use to you . Like I said its all original and im not super knowledgeable on these .
-
I havent thought about it to much . It got all new brakes, cans and rubber. Was hoping more of a trade for another Road worthy truck with more power.
-
Anyone have the needed parts to put dual pipes on a superliner .
-
I have a mack super-liner with 89000 original miles. Just got back from paint . Im thinking about getting into another mack with more power or peter built . Ive been towing alot more and just need more power . Im would def be interested in a trade for something different . I just want it to go to a mack guy who will cherish it. Im the third owner . Truck originally built for a guy in pa. Ps has a wetline kit for lowboy and dump trailer
