  1. I was running I five in California at the time coppers are pretty cool at night, but in the daytime they lean on you pretty good and hide and real good spots
  2. It only had a top end 62 miles an hour. I had them bump it up to 70 but I wound up getting three speeding tickets and one month probably a bad move
  3. That was the E6 350 and it had a nine speed fuller
  4. Not a big cabover fan but that was my favorite work truck overall came from Ryder got a hell of a price on it vlad says he has one just like mine it was an 83 model
  5. That’s what I had that was a running SOB I traded in the R model and bought a cruise liner with a big engine. It was very impressive.
  6. I’ll never forget a Mack truck salesman in LA quoted yeah man it’s like your pulling back on the reins I said yes that’s just what it feels like and then I got that 350 Thermadyne afterwards my god what a difference
  7. From what I remember, even a pretty good headwind would pull you down to nothing even on flat ground
  8. Yes sir I know all about it small grade you gotta lug it down to 35 before you can drop a gear. It seems like it takes forever and yes I used to go up a grapevine loaded down doubles 40,000 pounds and around 12 miles an hour.
  9. I’ve heard that before. The old timer is out here. Tell me they used to put a bucket of ice near the heater vent and turn the blower on high. It would help a little bit not a whole lot to keep you cool before everybody had air-conditioning I remember myself going out to Yuma Arizona to pick up lemons middle of the summer, it was like 150° out R model no AC I was only 26 at the time I just ruffed it out at 67. I don’t think I would’ve even attempted it.
  10. He still works full-time and he said he’s been pretty involved with his grandbabies lately not sure what that’s all about
  11. I was going to say that I also ran the 6 speed 2 stick 237. I hated that thing and yes the biggest problem they are flat ground trucks. Are perfect for City work.
  12. This is the worst one. I don’t think it would make it very far but I did drive a truck home 35 miles when I first bought it the tires were a little better shape.
  13. Yes, one of the fellas out here turned me onto double coins. They’re about the cheapest around. I’m finding them online for under $100. I know the Michelin tires we use at work are around $500 apiece just for a recreational vehicle. No I’m not gonna spend that much. I railer look around for used which is still very rare in this area size.1000-20 tube type but they still use them on container chassis
  14. I got real lucky when I first moved to Reno. There was a wrecking yard really close and it had 3F model Mack’s from UPS I was able to get two perfect doors and one fuel tank but now that wrecking yard has since closed
  15. But yes, it sounds like you have the same problem as I do around here thank God I got just about everything I need now and collecting parts for this thing for the past 30 years all I really need is 10 new tires, and a bunch of hoses and lines
  16. My wife was belly aching. You have been playing with your phone since I got up so I put it down for a while. She’s gone to work now free game ha ha
  17. I think I have the same exact suspension in my DM. Also, I ran that 300 4 valve I wasn’t impressed with the sound or the power. Had 179,000. It sounded like a Cummings and I didn’t think it pulled very well At all but then. I did get out of a 350 Thermadyne it was a E 6 now that thing was a pulling SOB
  18. I had a four valve 300 in a 87 U model years ago. Is it the one you’re talking about?
  19. The problem is Mack parts. In this part of the country are pretty much extinct and rather than drive all the way down there and try to buy the same one which is probably still there. I’m so far into this one now I might as well continue besides, I like the challenge.
  20. yeah, that transmission is junk at jumps out of fourth direct. I had to be the luckiest guy alive I find one. Rebuilt 50 miles from here 350 bucks. It’s the same thing as I have in there. It’s a tri Plex. Came out of a restored B model that got stuck in a garage fire. The guy was parting it out. if I were you, I would PM double clutch weasel. He has all kinds of spec sheets. He said he’s really busy right now that’s why he has not been on here but I’m sure if you sent him a message he will Respond
  21. I brought up the fact before I had a shot at a glass nose on old trans conU model it was around 350 miles from here went down and looked at it funny thing I’ve been passing this thing around 15 years at night and it sat in the same spot. Finally went down with my pick up truck to look at it and the daylight… after I talk to the place on the phone wrecking yard only wanted 150 bucks for it. They had a big bite out of the passenger side fender cracked both sides over the hood hinges I didn’t think it was much better than this one but the more I dig into it the more I find now I’m sorry I didn’t just scoop that one up it would’ve been a lot easier to fix
  22. Looks like I should have decent weather through half of Thursday. Should be able to get a lot accomplished because probably my yard gets really sloppy when it rains or snows so I don’t like to move it over to the cement slab or I like to send because the tires stink right down And leave big tire tracks I prefer sand there because we have little dogs and I want to make sure to sweep up all that poisonous material falling down so my little guys don’t get sick you know how they are. They eat everything they see and Mecho I bought a tank up at old UPS F model years ago I’m going to put that on the right side it’s a little long so I’ll have to reroute the exhaust around it and I can’t do anything with that because my transmission has to be changed because this old Trans I’m changing that is junk h as a PTO unit right in the way where I want to put that little muffler and yes, I think we were stepping all over his tread , but he did start it as far as model numbers. The only thing I could tell you is the S means twin axle. I don’t know what’s up with that. Mine also says S and it has twin Drive.bob
  23. I am on my vacation this week so I was gonna do more beating on that nose but I have a few things I gotta get accomplished this week but yes, I will definitely be working on it a little bit later and thanks for are interest have to renew my license medical card and background check just for a few more months of driving but I got all week to do all this. Hopefully I could post photos with significant forward progress damn thing is driving me up a wall. It’s too much of the same shit. Right now it doesn’t look like I’m getting anywhere except deeper in debt. I’ll be anxious to start some of the repairs. … but then the nose is the worst part of the whole truck and I wanted to get the hardest part done first.bob
  24. Sorry I can’t somebody else probably double clutching weasel posted a bunch of spec sheets few months ago on here not sure where they are … bob
