  4. I heard all you have to do is smack the axle with a big hammer and those things will pop out, but I’ve watched mechanics in our shop pull them apart and that doesn’t work. They have to try to pull those cone thingies out with small needle nose.

  7. I think Geoff is right it probably had taper locks I thought mine had them but it did not I didn’t see the chain brake. I thought that was the axle flying out of there.

  19. Well,one of the last car rear ends i worked on had that clip it was 50 years ago. I really don’t remember much about it. I just know I had to take it out of there and I don’t remember how I did it …to get the axle out. And I for sure can’t remember what kind of car it was.
