  5. ya,,,agree man,,its just mind boggling,,how lazy these kids can be,,,if they had to drive some of the crap we had back in the day,,they would quit, and go home..lol...bob
  6. hey ,,,noticed alotta you newbe,s around this site nowdays, and buying old trucks, thought i would give you fellars a fare warning about maxi brake pots,a lot of you guys dont realize they have a lethal high powered spring in them,,that can kill you ,or cause severe bodily damage,,,when your working around them, try to keep your body parts away from open end, with the key hole,,and if you find one leaking,,just remove it from the truck real carefull, and replace the pot,,dont try the repair it,,,its not worth the risk,,people have been severely injured, with these brake pots blowing apart,,,a friend of mine was outta work a whole year due to one exploding,,and just grazing his face,,got lucky,,,be careful,,guys...enjoy your hobby,,,bob
  7. wow,,,see what you mean,,certainly is ready to go,,not hard to look at,,saw a u model in truck paper 74,55000 or miles $7500,looks excellant,,,need money man.lol..bob

  12. oh ya,,those things are godsent,,but ofcoarse not everyone owns them..i have a motorcycle jack,for harley,,was just wondering if i could use that,,,you know i bet i could...bob
  13. well i think the bottom line is once a guy gets used to a straight fuller ten,,they are like walking backwards,,thier kind of fun,but have to pay attention at all times,,soon as start daydreaming,or talkin on the cb,automaticly start grinding gears
  14. that sounds good,,both i drove had electric,not a good setup,bob
  15. the big shops generally use a big type special jack for tire, and hub removal,,but you can put a board slide it under tire and put abuncha grease on the board then raise the truck just so you can just barely turn the tire on the board then have a guy give you a hand pulling the whole thing straight off the spindle sliding it easy on the greased board,,,just a little helpful hint, works like a charm if you do it rite,,also put a little grease.on bottom of tire.good luck, bob,oh have that other guy bring beer, lol.
  16. oh ya,,,those 2 speed axles were also a nightmare,,half the time they wouldnt go in,,oh by the way welcome back bill,,do you get any extra time off?
  17. ya mean the pete or the trans?we had a bunch of them in our older kenworths, everyone hated them..bob
  18. i suppose thats a good point.lol...bob
  19. dont think they lasted long,,dont hear much about them, seems they were around from like late 80,s to early ninty,s.bob
  20. i drove one in a pete,i didnt like it,but it had the electric gas pedal shut off, that only gave you like 1700 rpm,s so if you were on a slight grade, and shifting up from a traffic light, buy the time you let the gas off the truck would slow down too fast and wouldnt click into hi,,it was a pain in the ass,,would have been ok with a little more throttle,,,who the hell designs this rediculous stuff..bob
  21. you have to split every gear,,like a two stick,sept with a switch,like the mack was,or maybe still is,,bob
  22. ya,,lol...i see where on the same page...woohoo,that sounds fun,,good exersize if nothing else,,,lord knows i could use it.lol.bob
  23. was lucky enough to get this guage out of a oakland ca.fire engine along with the tach,a steering wheel, and stop ,and throttle cables,,everthing is in excellant shape.bob
