  1. I’m sure you fellas have heard a time or two sometimes that passes closed 2-3 days on account of too much snow that’s the one they have to go up there and completely clean the entire pass with those big cutters
  2. We are around 40 miles east of the big mountain and we really don’t see a whole lot of it here mostly just cold air. A lot of winners will get just a few inches half dozen times and a lot of times it’s all melted off by noon. Yes, I cry way more about the weather around here than it really is.
  3. Yes, I have heard that from Cattle and hay drivers
  4. it snows so hard and heavy in that area,,,sometimes its so severe,,,they cant even plow the roads, they have to use cutters,,not sure if most of you have seen them ,,thier giant snow blowers they have to use to clean surface roads
  5. yes they do,,,,allotta box trucks coming over with boose use them as do school busses

  8. I even got caught a couple of times of my pants down had to chain up the Mustang to get home. I used to carry a set in the car just in case I had to use them twice. I have a four-wheel-drive F150 I usually drive in the winter but a couple of times we had a surprise snowstorm when I got back
  9. We talked about that in a different tread a lot of three axles out there have a tag axle. Doesn’t help you at all when you’re empty. I also used to carry a pair of cheater chains the length of chain with a hook on the end and you wrap them through around the tire through the rim and it’s enough to get you out of a spot, just takes a couple of minutes to put them on just getting out of the yard as you mentioned
  10. Most of the country does not require them this part of the world. We have a lot of snowy mountains, and it pretty much cannot be avoided. You will either chain up or park it. Donner Pass main artery California to Nevada most of our food comes out of there there they have chain check points up there and if you don’t have any or you don’t wanna put them on, they make you turn around and go back. They don’t even want you up there if you’re not willing to chain up. Are you don’t have any tire chains? Lots of over the road drivers think they can just pull off the road and sleep it out. No they do not want you up there at all because you’re just taking up a chain up spot.
  11. I think most of us did the same thing. Oh no, I did it a timer or two with Nissans
  12. Yeah, best wishes, bud. You have a long ways to go. At least your job is probably a lot more fun than mine was. too far too many hours have a ball…
  13. OK, thanks for that. Yes, I see the difference. Those things were pretty much gone even when I was a young young teenager. I did sit in one that was on a wrecking yard about 1970. I was a round 14 . That’s the only one I can never remember and my area.

  19. and tom the 56 times ivolved 2 --3 railers and 2 single on outside tires both boxes,,,,takes around 45 minutes sometimes worse part it trying to find an emty spot to put them on,,,,,your never alone,,,,,lotsa other trucks and cars up there,,and sometimes its dumping snow all over you while your doing it,and walking around in slush,,most of us wear full rain suit water proof boots and rubber gloves...bob
