  1. All diesel engines will slobber to a certain degree in cold weather especially if left idling excessively for several hours like that. Combination of oil from valve guides and possibly from your turbo along with a lot of unburned fuel because the engine is not working and wont stay up at a warm operating temp in cold like that produces slobber. If it's using oil now I'd maybe pull the pipe off and have a look at your turbo if not I wouldn't worry about it.
  2. A few of you guys asked about my hood guards on my truck, I bought mine years ago and don't know if you can still buy them or not. I had a bunch of stainless stuff made for my truck so I had my sheet metal guy cut me out a few pairs of hood guards. I have 2 sets left $100 a set with all the hardware included. I can get more cut out if anyone's interested.
  3. That's a great idea.
  4. We Have 2 Cat Tri- Axle Dumps at work They ride rough and they are always in the shop more than they work. Just junk. I think they should quit and stick to what they know.
  5. Tempting but too far away for me too.whats the frame like? Hope someone scoops it up to restore hate to see it get scraped.
  6. Yeah the fresh air vent is in a stupid spot on them getting fresh air off the right front steer tire. So when you drive in dusty places it blows all the dust in the cab. Make sure that door is able to open and close it will make a difference. And yes parts for the heaters in an MH are not the easiest to come by so a guy wants to grab up any bone yard parts out of those MH cabs you think you might need someday.
  7. Yeah pump shafts do break. I got a box of old Vickers pumps for 866s in the treasures somewhere and I know a couple have twisted off shafts for all it takes to just pull the pump out of the accessory drive and check it I would check there first. If it was a valve in your steering box I would think it would probably be sticking first or have a tight spot not just go out completely. Check your pump first.
  8. Should be able to get them through your Mack dealer. They are a bit pricey but they should be able to get them I got a couple a year or so ago.
  9. I threw a good 2090 9spd in with arear cutoff I sold a guy about 3 years ago. Only because I couldn't seem to sell it and I needed the space. I know he just sold the pigs and scraped the rest. Wish I still had it I'd trade you for that 18 spd fuller I have a 15 in my Superliner and would prefer an 18 but you never come across that stuff when you're looking. I have a Mack 12 spd in the archives that needs a bell housing but it's different from your 9 spd. Bell housing.
  10. I use the wix filters on all my own stuff but the boss buys either Donaldson or Fleetguard but the Carquest uptown always gets me wix filters for all my stuff the old Mack my Harley I swear by them, used them for years. I prefer Chevron products for oil, but the boss buys Mobil from his supplier in bulk so who knows what he's getting. We have a 5w40 synthetic in the Cummins right now. As for frequent oil change intervals he'd very lax on that I think. Which is some of the problem but on this engine we are probably only getting 4000 to 4500 miles out of a filter. A few people suggested an external add on oil filtration set up from Pittsburg Power. So if the truck keeps going and the boss keeps it. Won't know till spring he's down in Florida for 3 months so he could care less! I'll ask Pittsburg power about it at MATS in March.
  11. LOL!!!'
  12. He probably had it since new. Went right up to the factory and picked it up. Was cheaper that way!
  13. My grandpa had a 79 GMC 1/2 ton pickup with one of those 6.2 diesels that were a gas 350 bottom end with different heads and intake with an injection pump, it was a piece of crap couldn't keep it together
  14. 10-4 on the noxious gases and lower fuel milage on these regen trucks. And J F Y I about the Chinese tires little do you know that there are only two or three manufacturers of tires in the world Michellin and Good Year actually own most of them so your Chinese tires are one or the other just made over there for a cheaper price. Nothing wrong with them depending on what you are doing some of them do wear really good but some are junk too. Good on drives and trailers but I stay away from them on steers because some don't last long before you get vibration out of them.
  15. ENDT866 V8 parts for sale. Still have some stuff left. Water Pump, heads oilpan pistons. (519)-999-4706 Dan.
  16. Been a few years since I worked on one of those heaters, I don't remember it being too bad to work on worst part will be getting the old squirrel cage off the motors they should be steel most of the time you end up replacing them to because they are always seized on.
  17. If I remember right they are mounted on a frame in front of the heater core and A coil for the AC. You'll need to unbolt that frame from the heater box and remove the 2 motors as an assembly. You should be able to match them up aftermarket if Mack doesn't have them.
  18. They're under the passenger seat tale the seat and top off the heater box and you'll see them should be 2 side by side I don't remember having to remove any duct work. I put a heater in the compartment under the bunk on the MH I had because I found the factory heat ok for the passenger and the defrost with 2 fans up in the windshield, but the floor of the drivers side was cold an extra heater behind the seat made it toasty. But your factory heater motors are under the passenger seat. Hope this helps.

  20. I know one thing Fontaine is more expensive priced a air cylinder for the slider on my Superliner and it was $300 a bit more money than if it were a Holland.
  21. I like the Fontaine No Slack wheels also I've had good luck with them. Didn't know they went to cast I seen new ones the heavy duty wheels at Traction truck parts just a few months back and they were still stamped ones maybe old stock or they make both ways.
  22. Yes we have changed the crankcase filter. Tried different brands of oil filters boss buys Mobil 15w40 oil from his supplier, we are rubbing synthetic in it now no difference maybe worse oil temp is at 210 to 230 degrees water is 200 antifreeze is red no water. Oil cooler was gone when we bought it rad was full of oil ended up replacing rad and coolant sensors because we couldn't get oil out of the coolant and it was always fouling up coolant sensor. Took it in and left it at a shop yesterday because engine shutdown code kept coming on along with the bell and it would loose a lot of power when it did. I wish the boss would get rid of the thing. He should have got rid of it I last spring and bought my dads Superliner from me then he'd have something.
  23. No that's a Holland. Fountain wheels are stamped steel. I've never seen a casted steel Fontaine wheel.
  24. Glad to hear you're back up and running again. 3 weeks for an inframe book time probably calls for 40 to 50 hrs for that but most of the time a good mechanic can do it in less time. But it's getting harder in this throw away world we live in to find guys to do that kind if work and care. Of coarse parts availability is sometimes an issue and you have to wait on something. And it doesn't matter if the truck is old or new. Hope it all works out and your old dog lives a long healthy prosperous life now.
