  1. I'd have to look the part # of that starter I put on mine up in about 8 years backs bills but I I remember right 12v 50mt sounds right. Everyplace carries them they're a pretty common 12volt starter vs the 24volt ones.
  2. All the E9s I've had we're already 12volt . My MH had been switched to 12 before I got it. Only reason I knew it had been 24 previously is because they left the series parallel switch on the shifter stand with all the wires cut off. I put a new starter on it when I rebuilt the engine only because it was one of the only things I hadn't replaced and it was already off to take the oil pan off. If it's wired for a 24 volt system I'd just leave it. But if you change it to a 12 volt it's simpler and will start an E9 with ease too.
  3. Nice pics Bobo. I got a friend that's spending New Years in Thunder Bay he delivering a load of steel up there for Tuesday. He runs up there most weeks. He said that dry cold up there burns your sinuses and chaps your lips easy if you're out for any length of time. I notice that any time I go up north you don't see too many Mack's working, I've seen a few parked on yards. You see mostly Pete's and KWs in the north anymore.
  4. In the post a while back someone had the Trucklite part#s for the LED bullet lights both long and short. I can't find the post, anyone have the #s for them.
  5. I was at Tatro in Chatham today and I saw that truck in person. It literally made me sick. I sold one in 100 times better condition for less than they are asking for that one . It is really rough doors are rotten, double frame has a lot of rust between rails. Grill is all bent. All 10 tires are worn out. It does have the red interior someone on here was looking for a while back but it isn't in great shape either. I'd offer them $1100 they probably only have that in it. They never pay big $ for anything they buy. $ 11000 is way too much for this truck it needs too much work. It has an E9 and a 12 SPD but who knows what they're like or how many miles are on them. The picture does wonders for it. I bought an MH with an E9 as is, I paid $8000 for it and put about another $3000 in it to put it to work and a few months later I had to rebuild the motor. I eventually made a nice truck out of it. And later a friend who knew where they got it from told me they paid $1500 for it. That's just my 2 cent into the topic. I'd advise anyone to leave it there unless they can get it for a lot less!
  6. You should be able to get automotive carpeting to match somewhere.
  7. I'm going to have to take a look on my front hubs. Pretty sure my front hubs the centre of the rim rides on a solid ring in the centre.I want to put a wider set of aluminum rims and a set of 365/65x22.5 steering tires on someday and it's a lot easier to find hub pilots than stud pilots whether you're looking at new or used. I bought new Accuride aluminum rims for my drives in the spring for $225 each brand new. For that price I couldn't bother with used ones everyone wanted $200 for used around here.
  8. The Hobby shop up town is closing up after 35 years in business due to the passing of the owner a year or so ago, his sister decided to give it up. I usually go in once a year or so and at least browse, I went to go in last weekend but it was closed due to the weather. I noticed the place looked empty and they had a sign saying store closing. 50% off everything and I saw the Mack Superliner Model kit I been wanting to buy for years but didn't want to pay $80 for. I was busy at work all week and didn't get there till 4 pm today and wouldn't you know it I walked in to see another fella purchasing it. If I could have spit bullets I might have!!!! Just wasn't meant to be I guess. But I did leave with a few die cast trucks instead. A1929 Mack AC and 2 GMC Cabovers. I might go back tomorrow and get a couple more I didn't have enough cash on me today to get so it wasn't really a bad day after all.
  9. How true you guys are I've seen it before too!
  10. Not a bad price on both. I'd say the 82 might be a glider or maybe repowered with a 237 probably should have had a 300 or 350originally. But still a nice truck.
  11. Red Horse that's the best idea yet! Clean and simple, no dogs to worry about, just MACK written on them I like it!
  12. MH Fred are those flaps rubber ones or hard plastic? Either way they look good.
  13. Here's what I have on mine. I also got them at my Mack Dealer. I couldn't find directional dogs and only had choice of Black ones with white dogs or white ones with red dogs, I would have preferred directional dogs. They cost me around $36 ea this past summer.
  14. Good articles, thanks for posting them.
  15. I been doing some cleaning around the shop lately and came across this in a plastic bag today. I figure it must have been with a bunch of Mack parts I bought at an auction years back but I'm not 100% sure what it's for. Looks like a tach drive or speedo drive but also looks to be a pump. I don't remember seeing this on our 866, or E9 V8 engines or on the Mack 12 speed transmissions we've had either. It has Mack part# 314GC366 also says Viking pump on the other side # 1-083-005 anyone know?
  16. Nice find! 1975 is my birth year and with a 325 V8 I'd love to have one like it. I'm jealous too!
  17. I made my own y pipe and it's about as centre as I could put it under the cab and with 6" stacks it smokes pretty even. The idea of both pipes crossed mind at one point in time, it reminded me of my Harley Superglide exhaust on right side of my bike and then I decided to just keep the ideas of my Superglide off oft Superliner and keep it looking like a truck.
  18. You could probably find the stick for the deep reduction somewhere but rigging up one for the high low reverse and neutral is more of a headache than it's worth, but it probably could be done.
  19. I'm not really a fan of winter time but I do like that winter sand!
  20. Here's some pics of some Dodges from a couple of Great Lakes Truck Club events this past summer up here in Ontario.
  21. Cool a Canadian built Dodge made right in plant 1 I believe in Windsor, Ont. I remember quite a few around my area when I was real young. I know of a couple or 3 around here I been trying to get my hands on both gas and diesel. Tandem and single axles, I'd like to get one to restore at some point in time. You don't see them too much anymore.
  22. 315's will go on a 8.25 but like Joe said a 9" is recommended if you want to go with a set of 386/65x22.5's you need I believe a 13" rim and 425's wider yet you need to do some measuring to figure what offset you need because you don't want to spend all that $ on rims and tires to find out that the tires rub on the frame when you turn sharp. Also you don't want the rim and tire sticking out past the outside edge of your hood, not to mention too much offset out makes the truck handle like an overloaded wheelbarrow full of wett cement on a 2x4 going down the road. As a rule the offset of the rim shouldn't extend out past the end of the a normal steering hubcap, and you'll have to Jack up your front end and turn the steering and take some measurements to see what would fit but if you have Dayton's on the front or budds or hub pilot you will be able to go with some kind of wider rim and tire. Probably have to order rims in if going new and if used you might have to do a lot of searching to get what you need. Also if you want a bit larger tire to go on an 8.25" rim you could go with a 12rx22.5 put you in between an 11rx22.5 and the 315. To keep your tires the same on the back your 10.00x 22.5's will be the same as a 10rx22.5 11rx22.5's will raise you up about an inch.
  23. I'd spend some money on your old ones or find some older pre emission ones and rebuild them. Kinda funny I had coffee with a friend about a month ago who has been trucking for 40 something years and he was shopping for a spare truck and he said that when he started trucking as things progressed you were always trying to get into a newer truck now with all the BS we have to deal with today we're all trying to get back into an older truck. How true he is!
  24. Here's a photo of my Dad's 1980 Freightliner with 450HP 3408 Caterpillar pulling his 1989 Amtrak 5 axle steel dump trailer. Right after we took this photo he traded the Freightliner off on a brand new 1994 Mack CL613 with E9500 and later added another fixed axle to make the trailer a 6 axle. With 4 fixed axles on the ground and 1 lift it was a tank to drag around corners, changing it to 5 on the ground an odd number allowed it to pivot on the centre axle making it easier to turn, pull and extra brakes made it easier to stop. His average annual tire bill was around $25,000 at least 1 full set of tires all around tractor and trailer not to mention all the flat repairs and tires that just got wrecked driving in scrap yards.
