  1. 160,000lbs gross would be legal for a Michigan A-Train setup. It was not uncommon back in the day for a lot of Michigan gravel and steel haulers to push their luck and go over 200,000lbs when trucking rates were good enough to take the risk of getting caught, probably not as common today. That trailer would probably be legal for around the mid 120,000 range. I'd have to check some of our old charts to tell you for sure. And yes it takes a lot of horsepower to get a wagon like that moving especially on corners, and you do have a lot of tire wear on something like that especially doing city work, that trailer shouldn't be to bad because it has 3 fixed axles and 2 lifts, with an odd number of axles on the ground it will pivot on the centre axle reducing the drag on your other ones and minimalizing tire wear and making cornering easier. If it had 4 on the ground it would be like pulling a wall. My guess is the guy probably worked construction hauling asphalt millings off a miller that type of setup is pretty common in Michigan.
  2. I'm 38. Nice to see that I'm not the only one in my age bracket who sees things this way.
  3. Yeah I think I was born 50 years too late too, either that or I'm getting old before my time.
  4. Well said Rowdy! I have to agree with you 100%. I remember a time in my lifetime that no stores were open on Sundays we got by just fine back then. It's sad that nothing ever closes for a day off anymore. I think that in some ways it would be good for society to revert back about 20 to 30 years.
  5. Nice lookin ride! I like the green with the red frame I actually considered painting mine green at one time, but left it alone because of the trucks history and it being a conversation piece. Maybe my next project I'll go with the green and red.
  6. Yup it runs nice and is coming together good.
  7. Just wanted to wish all my BMT friends on the other side of the fence a Happy Thanksgiving!
  8. I've never heard that theory. I didn't know of there being any difference in stock E9 cams. I would be more concerned about a 13 SPD lasting behind an E9. I'd make sure it's a newer one with oil pump and not an antique one out of a boneyard find. I'd stick with a 15,18 or a bulletproof Mack 12 SPD. At one time Mack only sold 866 and early E9's with a heavy trans 15spd Fuller 9spd Mack or 12spd Mack, because they were heavier. I guess it all depends on what you intend on doing with the truck.
  9. Internationals were a very popular truck make up in my area because they were built in Chatham, ont. for 70 years, but a few years ago Navistar closed the plant and I think it's under demolition now or very soon. One trucking company based right around the corner bought Internationals forever I see they have a Volvo or two in the fleet now. The closure of the Chatham plant also closed all the supplier plants down in the area and made it a ghost town. As for those Cat trucks we have two of them where I work and everyone hates them they are just garbage. They're ugly inside and out they ride as rough as they look and they spend more time in the shop then they do working. If you want an International buy an international not a cat we all like our new Granites we have over the cats.
  10. That's a good straight looking Superliner, just needs a polishing. You should be able to find a left side stack bracket at a bone yard in your area, you're in Mack Country. I got rid of my stock ones and dabbed up my own back behind the cab with 6" stacks on my Superliner just to give it a different look and also to get them out of my way. Mack can get you any of the gauges you need for your truck and actually they are priced pretty reasonable. I added a Manifold Pressure gauge and a Suspension Load Gauge on mine I'd like to put a fuel pressure trans and reared temp gauges but I don't have much space left in my dash panels. Too bad about your KW it was a nice lookin ride, I drive an 09 like it where I work and wish something would happen to it at times it is a big pile of crap! Someone got rid of it for a lot of reasons. You should like your Superliner it's much simpler an just an all around better truck. Best of luck with it.
  11. I think there was a 78 F786st less engine and trans on here a week or so a go.
  12. The MH Bullet lights are the same as RW ones you can get the Trucklite ones for $26 each plus you don't have have the half light in the centre that an RW has. Your originals should be plastic chrome so the Trucklight ones no one will know the difference.
  13. I used to have a set of short curved 6" straight pipes on my Superliner and I didn't find it too loud for me and neither did anyone else. Now I'm running 6" miter cut 7' straight pipes mounted around behind the cab and it blows the noise up and away from the cab and I don't hear much exhaust noise.
  14. I have a new drivers side windshield for an MH in the shop, I know they are getting hard to find I had a tough time finding this one 6 or 7 years ago. I never got to use it. My truck got wrecked before I got time to put it in. I been doing house cleaning in the shop and was looking at it the other day. If you're interested give me a call (519)-999-4706 Thanks, Dan.
  15. If its only a crack it can be fixed. If it's all rusted and swelled then it's iffy! You could cut it off ahead of where it's bad and section in a new piece of frame easier than replacing rails and a easy fix if it's at the rear of the frame especially with a double frame.
  16. Beautiful restoration. I would try and use it as collateral. Without a doubt it would be a good advertisement piece plus a form of write off for your business. Good luck with your business venture.
  17. Don't know if it's a factory hood but it does look good with an extra long hood.
  18. I want some of what he's smoking!!! It would be a cool piece to have but he might be pushing his luck if he moved the decimal point 1 space and I thought the dogs were to face the road too! I guess it takes all kinds.
  19. Very nice find!
  20. It looks to have a lot of potential and not bad for the money either.
  21. LOL!!!! I bet the look on the salesman's face was priceless.
  22. Good pics. Looks to be all kinds of goodies there.
  23. I agree with you Ryan. Under $20,000 you're just after a good work truck. I had my dads for sale on here and Truckpaper for about 6 months, first off sold it to a friend verbally for $15,000 and he didnt argue on price because he has 3 already and he knew and that $15,000 wouldnt buy that much truck anywhere else but he backed out after i gave him a couple months to come up with the cash, then i put it on BMT and Truckpaper and started high at $20,000 and got tons of calls and tire kickers, then i dropped it to $15,000 and got alot more lookers, then i went down to $10,000 and everyone wanted it, I'm still getting calls about it. I sold it for $10,000 about 5 months ago got half the money down for it but he hasn't come up to get it yet. I wish he'd take it home someday, I could use the space and it's not doing it any good sitting outside here. I only let it go for that because my mom was on my case to sell it for her before my dad passed away because her and dad needed the cash for some bills. As for my Superliner I've been restoring, I probably have $25,000 invested in it if not more for fun not to mention my time, I'm not looking to get rid of it but I wouldn't even talk about it for under $30,000.
  24. Looks good love the slogan. I think Mac trailers uses that slogan on their dump trailer shirts.
  25. Here's a photo I took a few weeks back at work of our D6 when I was dropping it of at a dump site our trucks were dumping dirt at. Got a good picture of our last RB we have left for now. I have a feeling I'll be driving it to Toronto for the last time in a few weeks to the auction. I keep telling them they are stupid to part with it. I'd send a few others to auction and keep the RB.
