FOR SALE Ambac 300 V-Style Injection Pump For Mack E-9
BAD DOG replied to ckenyon's topic in Parts for Sale
Do you still have the turbo for it? I might be interested in it for my spare engine. -
My Dad andI both had a couple of E9's I swear by them. Once you have one it's hard to go back to anything else. The only major things we ever had was on the 94 CL E9 500 had some bad injector o-rings and she filled the crankcase right up with fuel when it was almost new. the 90 Superliner E9 400 my Dad blew a coolant hose off on a and got it a little too hot and it dropped a valve seat and cost him a head, piston and liner about 5or 6 months later. and the 92 Mh E9 450 I had had a couple of pitted liners and put coolant in the oil, I did an infrme on it and still have the engine now in my 89 Superliner.

Last thursday we got a new Granite tri axle dump at work. I got to be the lucky candidate to test it out friday and saturday. I give it an A+ rating. All of us that drove it this week love it. It's got an MP8 with an 18spd fuller, got lots of get up and go empty or loaded. 20ft Bibeau dump box and a steer lift axle, plus it's on a hendrickson air ride on the rear so it rides better than most cars. It makes the Mexican International (CAT) tri axles we got in the summer look like the junk that they are. The CAT trucks are in the shop as much as they work. They ride really rough and every thing inside squeeks and rattles. The Cat trucks don't seem to be selling well around here we have the only 2 in the windsor area. I think that the Cats will be one of those short lived truck brands. Kinda like Harley Davidson selling snowmobiles back in the AMF days. One of our drivers that normally drives one of th Cat s drove the Granite yesterday, he didn't want to go back to the Cat today He was telling the boss the Cat needs to be in the scrapyard on the 2 way so I jumped at the opportunity to put my 2 cents in by telling them once you go Mack you never go back. everyone got a good laugh out of that one. But it's the truth isn't it?

Yes thats what they found it to be too high. They ordered some shocks in for it. Its much better now.

:SMOKIE-RT:Finally got to give the new pinnacle a real test for the whole day yesterday. I drove it a couple times before for half a day pulling a 4 axle tanker hauling tar grossed out at about 130 something thousand lbs. I thought it was one of the biggest pigs I ever seen, really gutless. we had it back to the dealer for the last week to have the wetline installed for our dump trailers, and get a driveline vibration looked at and an electronic malfunction code wiped, they must have changed some software in it. Difference between night and day. I pulled a dump trailer yesterday and ran with one of our KWs with an ISX 550 Cummins. WE were pulling 3 axle dumps about 115,000 lbs gross. I had no problem keeping up with him and fuel milage was about the same. I was impressed it does a really good job. I still wouldn't trade my E9 powered Superliner for 10 of them, but I wouldn't trade it for anything any way. So I would have to say though the pinnacle is a good value for the price the boss got it for. He just took one tractor for now, but bought 2 Grannite tri axle dump trucks though, we got 2 cats in the summer and we don't like them, they are in the shop as much as we work them.

Buckeye Bulldog
BAD DOG replied to Maddog13407's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I've visited with JR Collins at Bowling Green Oh a few times. He is trulyl a real gentleman to talk to. I've bought a few of his Buckeye Bulldog Tshirts the last couple years. It's amazing the power that his truck and Dick Bonner's Killer Mack have. They can both back out of it going down the track and just push the fuel and pick it right back up again. I've also talked to Dale Francis a couple times he's a nice guy to talk to. -
The Backhoes Here!

A buddy of mine has a 580D I've ran it quite a bit. It takes a bit of adjusting to go back to foot swing after you've ran 2 sticks for a while, but there ain'tt nothing wrong with foot swing as long as every thing is adjusted up right. -
That's right, if you're gonna do it, definately never kiss and tell, just keep it under your own hat. What everyone else does'nt know won't hurt them.

Rotting Superliner
BAD DOG replied to rsb502's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Sounds like my dad, He quit trucking in 08 and parked his 90 Superliner in the shop at home for a couple years. Then one day he decided that it took up too much space in there so it got backed out in the yard. No weeds or trees growing up through it yet. but at least it's on gravel and not grass, but it's starting to rot away too. It hasn't been started this year yet, but it is getting to look sad. A couple guys want to buy it and he will not sell it. He'll never do anything with it, and he won't even give it to his first born {me} or sell it to him really cheap even though a whole bunch of parts on it are mine from my truck and my parts surplus, which kept him trucking for a few years longer. what a shame. -
Tuesday afternoon we took deivery of the 1st of 3 new Pinnacles the boss just puchased. He's been buying Kw's and a couple of Cat trucks recently. I was surprised to see him get Macks again. He asked what I thought of it and I told him it was'nt a Superliner, but at least it's a mack. It's a nice little day cab 3/8" single frame MP8 505 HP 18 spd eaton rears on hendrickson air ride. It should do what we want it ti do.

The first one of our new Cat trucks showed up at work this afternoon. I'll post some pics soon and keep you posted on how the guys like them after they had a chance to abuse them a bit. I kinda like the Kenworths we have better. the cat interior looks kinda cheap. It's just an International with a different hood as far as I can see.

Looks like you got a good straight truck to work with, and a V8 to boot. It's a lot of work stripping it down like that and repairing or replacing all that needs to be done. It sucks getting all soaked and full of grease washing everything down too, but soon enough you'll be able to look at all you've done and know it's all worth it. Keep up the good work.

Happy belated birthday Bobo. Sorry I did'nt catch you on thursday, finnally got busy recently, feast or famine. You know what it's like. I'll be another year closer to catching up to you in age tomorrow. I'll be turning 29 for the 8th year in a row LOL.

Rob's retirement home?
BAD DOG replied to vision386's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Sweet idea , but using too many school bus parts is too crude in my opinion. I think they could have done a better job of it. It's got me dreaming up my next Moster Garage project though. Thanks for the idea. -
Some More R700's for you boys

I like the horn button too. Where in Canada did Mack build trucks? -
ebay Superliner
BAD DOG replied to DodgeMan's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Cool thanks for posting those pics. I was wondering what my Superliner interior would look like with that style of leather seats in it now I know. My KW I drive at work has one of those seats on the drivers side, I was never a fan of leather seatsbefore I got that one It's the most comfortable seat I ever had sat in it 10 hrs straight today and it didn't bother me at all. -
I'll fill you in on what a Cat truck is like somtime in june. My boss has 2 on order for tri axle dump trucks. They will be the first in our area so we are the guiea pigs. I guess the engines in them run clean enough that they do not need afterburners or DPF setups. Guess we'll see.

Nice lookin KW good choice in year too, same vintage a me. I missed the boat on a simmalar deal for a few years just a few miles around the corner from my home there has been an 85 pete 359 in a yard not used much. a month ago it came up for sale on the Kijiji site. I was talking to the owner a day or so later and he said he sold it the first day for $3500 It had a fresh 425hp 3406B cat in it . guess I should'nt have slept on that one.

I would'nt mind a Titan glider or even a CL glider. Would make a nice truck to put my other E9 in.

I've heard of Allis Chalmers engines used in class 8 trucks in the 60's and into the 70's. The 450 HP I've heard was comparable in size to a 1693 Caterpillar of the 70's, I also heard they were pretty strong runners too, but hard on fuel. For some reason they just never got to be a popular engine for the truck market, Perkins engines were the same way. Kinda neat to see a truck with an Allis in it. I hope it's not too far gone to save, it's a very unique piece. Allis Chalmers made pretty good farm tractors and bulldozers in that time period. Allis chalmers parts are probably nearly impossiblev to find, kinda like 865 and 866 mack parts. You can thank forein ownership for that one. They too went through the same as Mack is with Volvo. Late 70's early 80's Allis Chalmers merged with Fiat, and things were all downhill from there, kinda makes you wonder about Chrysler now?????? Guess we just never learn from our mistakes.

MH613 rescued for restoration
BAD DOG replied to BC Mack's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
The Bulldog on a cabover mounts just above the door for the rad cap, just under the center of the windshields. Same dog as the coventionals, different mounting base. That sure is a sweet find, looking at the pics of it brings back memories of the 92 that I had. -
I just have a single underhood on mine, I'm thinking of putting dual external breathers sometime. I've heard E9's run better and cleaner with the duals, because it allows them to breath better. Mine Has the Robert Bosch Inline pump and didn't smoke when it was in my MH, but it had a real big aircleaner on it and my Superliner just has the small aircleaner under the hood. I just got it running last weekend and only ran it in the shop don't know yet what it will be like at operating temp yet.
