  1. Yeh Bobo K&R had the skeleton of a superliner in the summer when I talked to him about it. I'm looking for 22.5 hub pilot rims for drives on my superliner I'm in need of all 8. I just have 4 old stud pilots on now so I can move it around the yard. I wouldn't mind at least 4 aluminum for the outside, I can always put 4 steel on the inside, thanks Dan.
  2. 10 alcoas for $650 thats not bad I need to find 8 for the back of my superliner. If you come across any Bobo give me a call (519)-999- 4706 I'm still using the library computer to go on the forum, I can't get on it on mine for some unknown reason. I need to get down to york some saturday to get that bumper bracket from the wrecker there. Thats close to you so we should meet up for coffee.
  3. Finally got the tail end of the old superliner together 2 weekends ago. In the spring I got a suspension from a 2000 ch real cheap, it's on hendrickson air ride with 3:90 eaton 40, 000 lb rears on hub pilots. It looks alot more like a truck again. I started on my coverall fabric building that will house the truck today, so it will soon be in side out of the weather. I need to get some pictures to post.
  4. I stopped at the Mack dealer in Windsor tonight on the way home from work, in search of the proper bolts to fasten the front spring hangers, frame rails and bumper brackets/tow hooks together. I gave them the vin for the truck like they usually want, the guy looked it up and found the part # for them only to tell me the computer says the bolts are obsolete the Mack part# he gave me is 21QL4128AM 8AM18 dimensions he gave are M20X2.5X50 mm. Anyone know where I might find a few.
  5. You haven't trucked unless you've spent some time behind the wheel of a cabover. You just missed out on something if you haven't.
  6. With a little creative fabricating anything is possible, I don't see why you couldn't fab up everything to make an old cab fit on a newer chassis.
  7. Well I finally got enough ambition to slide those framerails in today along with a new crossmember under the cab. What a heck of a job when your working alone, just came in around dark. They look pretty good it's starting to look like a truck again , makes me feel good that they are finally in. Next part of the project is to clean up the new rears an suspension. I need to get a frame drill from my buddy for a weekend.
  8. A V*lv* is so worthless wonce it's driven of the lot that V*lv* dosen't even want it back. That says something about there junk if they won't even take it on trade even if you were buying a new one. They don't want to keep old stuff running because it doesn't sell new ones or so they think, they want to make North America just like Europe where a really old hiway truck is over 3 yrs old, that's not even enough to break it in over here let alone wear it out, let alone pay for the dam thing with trucking rates as rediculiously cheap as they. I say to V*lv* and Mercedes who is Freightliner and Western Star, that if things were so good in Europe and they want to make us like them that they should have stayed there and let us keep our good North American made iron.
  9. The Dodge is a nice collectable piece, a good find. It's always nice to see a few saved from the scrapman.
  10. I went past Weigand Mack in Sterling Heights Mich. the last 2 nights on my way to and from the rail yard, and I see the front lot there is full of the new grey Chrysler Macks so you should see some around Detroit area soon. I was also into Chrysler in Windsor the last couple of nights , but don't see any there yet nor at 401 Mack in Windsor either if they are the dealer Windsor's new trucks are coming from, I'm sure they will be getting their's soon.
  11. No not anymore, they parted ways a while back when Daimler or Mercedes dumped tthem. Chrysler used to have a bunch of Macks in the Windsor fleet back in the 90's before they merged with Daimler. Too bad Allied systems wouldn't replace those old Volvo's they have with some Macks.
  12. Neway suspensions work well on heavy haul applications they just have more bushings to wear out , but replacing bushings isn't a common thing on them , they last pretty good and also give a decent ride.
  13. Your cousin puts a new meaning to the term cooking with gas Rob. Literally.
  14. Labatts's Breweries had a couple all restored that they used for shows, but I haven't seen one since back in the 80's I don't know if they have one still or not.
  15. Labatt's beer in canada had a White tractor trailer in the thirties that they called the White Streamliner. They had a steamlined cab and matching trailer like that.
  16. I drove an 06 W900B at the last place I worked at an I really liked it I thought it handled an manuvered well on constrction sites, I actually liked it better than th 96 Mack CH I drove before it. If I had my choice though I would still be driving my 89 Superliner or 92 MH they were the best 2 trucks I ever drove. They handled like a dream, and pulled like bears, but we can't always have what we want, so I now work at a place that most of the fleet are volvo and old ones at that, some times you just have to draw the line between glory and a decent paycheck.
  17. I go up to the Truck Rodeo in Notre Dame Du Nord Quebec every august, and there is a black R model up there repowered with an E9 400, it just competes in the bobtail class it's named Mecatec and is pretty impressive. I think that there is some video footage of it on youtube.
  18. I use it in all my stuff, I even use a little bit in the engine, tranny, and primary on my Harley. My opinion I believe it helps, but I am also a frequent oil changer always changing below suggested milage and believe in a good quality lubricant, and keeping it clean, I stick with either Texaco or chevron products, but also add a little lucas too, I like the grease they make also the red and tacky grease.
  19. Bobo that was a quick reply, you must have read my mind. I was curious we haven't heard from you on here for a couple weeks, must be busy with the new project. Are you going to put a roll off on it after you get it stretched?
  20. Did we get the Big Dog home yet Bobo?
  21. Looks like there's alot of potential, it appears to be pretty solid.
  22. Rob $1870.00 delelivered, sounds like a real good price even if you do have to drill all your own holes. As for the difference between "R" model rails and RD rails I don't really know for sure. I know when I was looking for 3/8" framerails for the superliner I couldn't come any where close to finding them for that price , they were more than double that , of coarse superliner rails are totally different than R model ones.
  23. They look really good Rob, It probably took a lot of time and even more patience to do them.
  24. Well I got the rear cutoff from the CH home tonight. The axle housings and suspension parts are all super clean just need a little degreasing no rust on them, factory finish. I got the RW all striped and awaiting the new frame rails on monday afternoon. All I need now is a nice day and a couple of my friends for some extra hands. I'll see what saturday brings.
  25. Actually if he's asking $1200 a piece for them that's a good price if they're new. It's the shipping to get them to you that's expensive. It will at least double the price of them.
