  1. I believe the last ones went out in CL's in late 1998 as 1999 models.
  2. Sorry to hear about your truck. Sounds like the cops could possibly be in Cahoots with these two Sheanies. I thought the honest ones.
  3. I would V the crack out withe the grinder. Heat the cracked area up a bit with the torch and let it cool abit and weld it real good wit some 7018 rod. It 'll proably never break in that spot again. Probably should fish plate it inside by rights, use bolts don't weld it in. My friend and I stretched a frame afew years back, we even ground the welds off smooth on both sides of the frame and hid our splice , we never had a problem with it.
  4. I've seen a few of those perkins powered V8 Masseys up here. I kinda like them maybe just because I'm a V8 nut. The Perkins has a resemblance to the 866 Mack V8 I had by the looks of the rocker covers and the external injectors.
  5. A friend of ours has an E7 460 that is turned up to a 490. My dad has a superliner with an E9 just 400Hp an with both trucks pulling 6 axle steel dump trailers grossed out at 130,000lbs doing some pretty good hill climbing , the old E9 still pulls away and leaves the souped up E7 and the E9 used about 15 to 20 gallons less fuel on the same trip. My opinion is bigger cubes are better.
  6. I'm pretty sure I have a couple of 866 oil coolers and one filter housing for sure in the archives. I'll have a look in the next day or so. Name is Dan (519)-999-4706 is my cell#.
  7. Looks to have a lot of potenial , so far so good. What do you have for a suspesion on the back?
  8. You did a real nice restoration on it. Looks good.
  9. Chip that is a sweet lookin F model you got. I can't imagine putting a price on a rare find like that. I would really hate to part with that if it was mine. I need to figure out how to get my pics posted on the site. You wouldn't happen to know where I might find a drivers side 3/8" framerail for my Rw 700 project? I didn't think to ask you when I talked to you last night. Dewy Duke had a set he knew of last fall in Ohio but he hasn't got back to me yet.
  10. Have you tackled that water pump yet Rob?
  11. Hey Chip Your friend with the fleet of Cl V8's wouldn't happen to be Bill Vogelsberg?
  12. I have gone to the Truck Rodeo for the past 2yrs. The videos do no justice, its a lot more fun to watch in person. The Youtube videos are slow compared to real. There is a 903 Cummins in a 68 KW runs up ther every year in the bobtail class. If you ever get the chance to go up there , it's worth it. I'm looking forward to this august.
  13. I packed in being my own boss almost 2yrs ago because of someone in a car hitting me head on. I felt it was a good time to take a breather on driving my own and I now am just a driver for a company hauling aggregate around here. There aren't many days go by that I don't miss my own truck. I guess it is just something that just gets in your blood. I think I'm going to wait things out a while longer before I attempt to go back at it again. As far as the Titan goes I prefer the stainless wheel flares myself . I don't think they would be a problem if you get the right offset on the front rims. I think that the big wide steer tires would make th look of the truck. They're a must for a heavy haul truck anyway. What area of the north are you from Bullheaded ? A friend of mine has a place just east of Mattawa.
  14. Welcome aboard Rod. You say you recently replaced the framerails on your R model. Did you get brand new ones or used ones? A friend of mine has an 87 R Model tractor he runs daily that he bought new and the double frame on it is getting ripe and he doesn't want to park it. I wondered if you could still get new rails or not. I also have an 89 Superliner in mothballs right now that got wrecked on me a few years ago. I want to find new rails for it also . The Mack dealer up here in Windsor told me they couldn't get them. I don't think they wanted to look. the don't encourage guys like me that like to keep old trucks like that running , they just want to sell you a new one.
  15. Booming here I'd like to try some of the drugs the guy that wrote that editorial is on. $50.00 hr is about the average rate for Tri-Axles down here. Some fools are trying to do it cheaper than that , How I don't know they must have a different math system than I use. There are quite a few up coming proposals for Infrastructure jobs and Windfarm projects , but they are all up in the air right now. If they get things together there should be alot of work.
  16. The guy I bought my superliner from told me they had one with a 8V92 in a early model superliner 1 series. He said the Detroit was a piece of junk so he repowered it with a 866 mack V8 .
  17. $160,000 , No wonder 401 Mack down here in Windsor isn,t promoting them. I guess there's a slim to nill chance of talking my boss into one , he's been kick'n tires on a couple of new visions . With the economy in Windsor area right now I don't expect to see any here any time soon. I sat in the one on display at the truck rodeo up at Notre Dame Du Nord , Quebec back in august . They sit really high , probably as high as the Mh cabover I used to have , they sure would dwarf a CL if they were parked next to one another.
  18. :SMOKIE-RT If I remember right the impeller should pull off the shaft with a steering wheel or harmonic balancer puller not too hard. You should probably be able to get a seal and possibly bearing from your supplier. make sure your shaft is not worn too much and your impeller fits back on snug and use a new pin in the impeller even a roll pin will work. You should be able to make it work. If you have trouble and it doesn't I have a new remaned one here in the archives. Let us know how you make out , Good Luck .
  19. I had a 92 MH 613 with a 450HP E9 V8 . I loved it. I 'd still be running it today if some woman in a $35 car didn't hit it head on a couple of years ago . As far as being safe the MH cabs were pretty strong I walked away from my accident without a scratch, and I have scrapped MH cabs in the past and would have to say they were well constructed, It takes a good backhoe and some time to break up one of those cabs. I used to get better fuel milage with mine than I do with newer ones , so as far as aerodynamics are concerned I don't believe in them, I prefer class instead.
  20. I was hoping to just change framerails rather than a total chassis conversion. The W.B. now is short 196'' framerail length of about 24' end to end on a New Way air ride, 3/8'' single rail. If I could find a longer set in good shape even with a camelback bolt pattern that would work I can always drill them for my New Way. Mine used to be a246" W.B. be for I shortened it.
  21. I've been looking for a driver side framerail for my 89 RW 700 . But I have not had much luck finding a good one near me. A friend of mine has a complete rolling chassis for a early 80's Superliner 1 . What do you guys think of the idea of reworking my Superliner 2 cab and parts onto a Superliner 1 Chassis?
  22. Yes I did have a water filter on it, but I bought it after it sat a few years and I don't know how often the previous owners had changed it , so the damage was done before I got it.
  23. Mine did something similar a few years ago. It had an electrolasis problem an rotted all the liners on the one side of the motor.
  24. I can't wait to to see a real one. It looks real tough too. I'm not real keen on the dip in the center of the grille, but I would buy one if I was in the market for a new ride. It would look real sharp with a pair of big steer tires on the front . It kind of looks like a cross between a Superliner and CL. About time we got a new Big dog with big cubes too. I wonder if the Mp10 will be as good as the E9?
  25. Did the new injectors help your smoking problem you were having a while back ?
