  1. Thanks Glenn. I'm keeping that option open be for i do anything to drastic. We have some friends up here that have a fleet of Ford and Sterling gravel trucks. They had one of their tri-axle dumps rolledover a few years ago and they said they sent it away and had it sraightened. They said that that it worked out just fine for them. If it works ok on a Ford it should be ok for a big heavy Mack. I'll have to find out where they had it done at.
  2. MY SUPERLINER IS AN RW700 IT HAS THE DROP DOWN AND SPREAD DESIGN IN THE FRONT . THE RAILS ARE HEAVY ONES I THINK THEY ARE 7/16 OR 1/2 INCH THICK. THE DRIVERS SIDE RAIL IS BENT AT THE FRONT. I AM LEARY OF HAVING IT STRAIGHTENED. PREFER TO CHANGE THAT RAIL IF I COULD GET ONE. I SUPPOSE I COULD TAKE THE DOUBLE FRAME MH I BOUGHT FOR PARTS AND LENGTHEN IT OUT AND PUT MY SUPERLINER CAB AND HOOD ON IT IF I HAVE TO.

  4. THANKS GUYS. I WENT AND LOOKED AT THE TRUCK AND GET ALL MY TOOLS AND STUFF OUT OF IT YESTERDAY. I CONSIDER MY SELF VERY LUCKY TO HAVE WALKED AWAY WITHOUT A SCRATCH ON ME. AS FOR THE OLD TRUCK , SHE GOT HIT PRETTY HARD. I GUESS THE INSURANCE IS GOING TO WRITE IT OFF. I'M INTHE PROCESS OF DUKING IT OUT WITH THEM. I SENT THEM ALOT OF THE BILLS FOR EVERYTHING I DID TO IT IN THE LAST YEAR . I HOPE NOT TO GET RIPPED OFF TOO BAD. THE MOTOR HAD ONLY ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON IT SINCE I REBUILT IT LAST YEAR. SURE HOPE I COME OUT OK ON IT. I'D LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SALVAGE THE E9 AND MAYBE RE FRAME MY SUPERLINER THAT GOT HIT 2 YEARS AGO, BUT THATS JUST A THOUGHT PROBABLY WON'T BE THAT LUCKY. THE APRAISER CAN'T GIVE ME A BOOK VALUE BECAUSE HIS BOOK DOESN'T GO BACK THAT FAR TO 92 LET ALONE THE FACT THAT IT'S A CABOVER. I TOLD HIM TO LOOK ON THE NET AND SEE THE ASKING PRICE FOR E9 POWERED HEAVY SPEC'D MACKS AND SEE WHAT THE'RE ASKING FOR THEM. AND TOLD HIM THAT THAT IS WHAT I AM EXPECTING OUT OF IT. AFTER ALL THE ACCIDENT WASN'T MY FAULT SO THEY HAVE TO GO AFTER THE CAR OWNERS INSURANCE TO RECOOP THEIR LOSES. IT'S NOT REALLY ANY SKIN OFF THEIR BUTT.
  5. YESTERDAY MORNING THE UN THINKABLE HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS . I WAS HEADING NORTH UP TO OWEN SOUND ONTARIO JUST LEAVING THE TOWN OF LISTOWEL ONT. I HAD ANOTHER CAR LOOSE CONTROL AND SLAM INTO ME HEAD ON . IT WASN"T NICE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR. IT WASN'T MY FAULT AND THE POLICE AND WITNESSES ALL TOLD ME THE THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE TO AVOID IT. IT'S JUST BUGGING ME THAT THIS IS THE 2nd TIME IN 2 YEARS THAT I GOT NAILED BY AN OUT OF CONTROL 4 WHEELER. 1st IT WAS MY 89 SUPERLINER, AND NOW MY92 MH CABOVER . I'M THINKING ALOT. AND AM THINKING OF JUST PACCKING IT IN AND LOOKING FOR A CAREER MOVE. I ASSUME THE INSURANCE WILL RAPE ME AGAIN . I SURE WILL MISS THE BIG OLD V8.
  6. THE TROUBLE I HAVE HAD WITH ULSD IS THAT WHEN THEY TAKE ALMOST ALL THE SULFUR OUT OF THE FUEL IT TAKES MOST OF THE CEATAIN OR BTU RATING OUT OF IT . I HAVEN'T HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH O-RINGS YET , BUT I ALSO USE ALOT OF LUCAS IN THE FUEL . I HAVE NOTICED SINCE THEY STARTED PUSHING IT OFF ON US UP HERE ABOUT THE LAST 6 MONTHS OR SO THAT WE'RE NOT GETTING THE POWER OUT OF IT AND THE MILAGE IS DOWN. MY SHELL FUEL DISTRIBUTOR EVEN TOLD ME THAT THE LACK OF SULFUR IS WHY. NOT ENOUGH BTU'S . HE SAID THAT THE OIL COMPANIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ADDING THINGS TO THE FUEL , BUT HE DOES'NT THINK THE ARE . JUST PASSING OFF THIS GARBAGE ON TO THE CONSUMER. IT'S NOT JUST AFFECTING MY OLD MECHANICAL E9 . MY BUDDY S WITH THERE ELECTRONIC CATERPILLER AND CUMMINS ENGINES ANRE NOTICING IT JUST LIKE I AM. I THINK ULSD IS THE WORST THING THEY COULD HAVE DONE TO US. TAKE ALL OF THE BTU RATING OUT SO WE GET LESS POWER OUT OF IT - LESS POWER - BURN MORE FUEL = MORE MONEY FOR FUEL AND LESS FOR ME.
  7. :SMOKIE-LFT:I WAS THINKING OF TRYING SOME THAT OUR FUEL DISTRIBUTOR HAS UP HERE . ITS NOT THE HOME BREW KIND. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE MADE FROM SOYBEANS AND ETHANOL I GUESS . THANKS FOR THE ADVICE . I WAS ONLY THINKING ABOUT IT BECAUSE I CAN BUY IT CHEAPER AND WAS WONDERING ABOUT MAYBE GETTING BETTER MILAGE . I DON'T LIKE THE NEW ULSD FUEL WE HAVE UP HERE .
  8. THEY ALSO WERE USING THE E9 FOR MILITARY USE . THEY WERE PUTTING THEM IN TANKS , AND REPOWERING OLD TANKS WITH THEMA FEW YEARS AGO. THEY MIGHT STILL BE. I HEARD THEY WERE RUNNING FOUR TURBOS ON THEM AND THE HORSES ???? I THINK THEY EVEN MADE THEM ELECTRONIC TO. IT'S LIKE EVERY THING ELSE WHEN THEY MAKE AN ENGINE AS GOOD AS THE E9 THEY TAKE IT OUT HIGHWAY PRODUCTION AND TRY TO PASS OFF THE NEW GARBAGE OFF ON US.
  9. I WAS WONDERING IF OR HOW MY E9 WOULD RUN ON BIODIESEL . HAS ANY ONE EVER TRYED IT IN OLDER ENGINES ? WOULD IT HURT THEM ?
  10. MY 92 MH613 CABOVER HAS 8 HOLE ALUMINUM HUB PILOT RIMS ON THE STEERS. ARE YOURS ALUMINUM OR STEEL?
  11. I WAS TALKING TO A PUMP MAN IN BRITISH COLUMBIA CAN. THE OTHER DAY AND TOLD HIM MY TRUCKS PROBLEM. HE DID NOT THINK I HAVE ANY TYPE OF PUMP PROBLEM. HE THOUGHT THAT I MIGHT BE LACKING MANIFOLD PRESSURE NEEDED IN ORDER TO OPEN THE ANEROID VALVE. PROBABLY A SERIOUS LEAK IN THE AIR TO AIR OR THE PIPING OR BOOTS. HE TOLD ME THE ANEROID VALVE ON PUMPS LIKE MINE IF IT OPENS PROPERLY ALOWS FOR THE LAST 25% OF YOUR RACK TRAVEL. THAT SEEMS TO BE WHERE I AM LACKING POWER IN MY LAST 3 GEARS IT IS SLOW TO GET GOING. AND SINCE I HAVE BEEN MESSING WITH IT I HAVEN'T HEARD THE WISTLE OUT OF THE TURBO LIKE IT USED TO. BUT THE TURBO LOOKS OK . TOMORROW I AM GOING TO PRESSURE TEST THE AIR TO AIR AND PIPES AND INSTALL BOOST AND FUEL PRESSURE GAUGES SINCE IT DOES NOT HAVE THEM. HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER HEARD OF THIS BEING A POSSIBLE PROBLEM? I SURE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU. I HOPE I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM SOON. I'VE BEEN USING THIS TRUCK TO PULL A 6 AXLE HAULING STEEL THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS AND SHE JUST WON'T PULL A REAL LOAD. I DIDN'T NOTICE IT AS MUCH SINCE I HAVE ONLY PULLED TANDEM TRAILERS WITH IT SINCE JULY.
  12. I LOOKED AT THE PUFF LIMITER OR ANEROID VALVE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. EVERYTHING MOVED FREELY AND THE DIAPHRAM LOOKED OK IT WASN'T TORN . THE PYRAMETER RUNS AT ABOUT 600 GOING ON FLAT GROUND AND DOESN't GO UP TO THE 900 DEGREE UNTIL YOU PULL A GOOD HILL FOR A COUPLE OF MILES. I ALSO CHANGED THE LINE FROM THE ANEROID VALVE TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD ACOUPLE OF WEEKS AGO TO. I NOTICED TODAY THAT IT RAN A LITTLE BETTER AND WAS EASIER ON FUEL THAN IT HAS BEEN FOR A FEW MONTHS AFTER I DOUBLED THE AMOUNT OF LUCAS FUEL CONDITIONER THAT I USUALY PUT IN IT.
  13. I JUST DID ON THE WEEKEND. I USUALLY CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER WHEN I CHANGE THE OIL AND OIL FILTERS EVERY MONTH. THE AIR FILTER GETS CLEANED EVERY WEEKEND AND CHANGED EVERY THREE MONTHS. I'M PROBABLY DOING THIS MORE REGULAR THEN MOST GUYS DO.
  14. I ALREADY CHANGED THE DRAW LINE FROM THE TANK TO THE LIFT PUMP. I WAS THINKING OF REPLACING THE OTHERS BECAUSE THEY APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL . I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR SIMPTOMS ON A CAT. I DON"T THINK IT WOULD BE IN NEED OF A TOP END SET BECAUSE WE OVERHAULED THE ENGINE 1YEAR AGO AND HAVE ONLY PUT ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON IT SINCE. THE TURBO WAS OK WHEN I WAS CHECKED IT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. WHAT I AM WONDERING IF IT MIGHT BE VARNISHING UP FROM THIS NEW LOW SULFER FUEL. I HAVE ONLY BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I WAS BUYING FUEL FROM THE COMANY I WORKED FOR IN MICHIGAN. THERE FUEL RANGED IN COLOUR FROM GREEN TO BLACK JUST LIKE IT HAD OIL FROM TRANSFORMERS OR USED MOTOR OIL IN IT. I WONDER IF THAT HAD SOMTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT PROBABLY DIDN"T HELP IT ANY. I ALWAYS USE LUCAS FUEL CONDITIONER OR HOWES YEAR ROUND. I LOOKED AT WHAT THEY CALL FOR THE AMOUNT THEY CALL FOR USING AND FOUND THAT I WAS ONLY USING HALF OF WHAT THEY CALLED FOR. SO I THINK IT PRBABLY IS VARNISHED UP. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A NEW MACHINE FOR CLEANING FUEL INJECTION SYSTEMS ON DIESEL ENGINES. I WAS THINKING ABOUT TRYING IT OUT ON MINE. WOULD IT BE A GOOD IDEA?
  15. MY 92 E9 V8 WITH A ROBERT BOSCH P7184 INJECTION PUMP IS GETTING MORE SLUGGISH ALL THE TIME. IT SEEMS TO LACK POWER IN A CROSS WIND AN IN HILLS EVEN WITH JUST AN EMPTY FRIEGHT BOX BEHIND IT. I WAS WONDERING IF IT MIGHT BE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE UNDER LOAD. IT IS GETTING A LITTLE DAMP UP NEAR THE LIFT PUMP ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INJECTION PUMP. WHEN IT SITS AT AN IDLE AND YOU LOOK IN THE FUEL TANK THERE SEEMS TO BE LOTS OF RETURN FUEL. BUT I AM WONDERING IF THE LIFT PUMP MIGHT BE GETTING WEAK. HAS ANYONE ELSE WITH ONE OF THESE E9's WITH THE BOSCH PUMP EVER ENCOUNTERED THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM . IF SO WHAT WAS WRONG.
  16. I HAVE A COUPLE OF REBUILDABLE CORES ( HOUSINGS AND ALL ) PLUS A NEW REMANED PUMP STILL IN THE BOX FOR AN 866 V8 . THEY USE THE SAME PUMP. I DON'T REALLY HAVE ANY USE FOR THEM SINCE THE TRUCK I KEPT THEM FOR WAS WRECKED. ALSO HAVE ALOT OF OTHER 866 PARTS AND KNOW WHER TO FIND ALOT OF HARD TO FIND STUFF FOR THEM.   17. I SEE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT WHEN I LOOKED AT THE PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE THE PUMPS LOOK VERY SIMILAR TO MINE. MY PUMP JUST HAS 2 MORE CYLINDERS ON IT. I HAVE A FRIEND NEAR HOME THAT HAS PLAYED AROUND WITH HIS DODGE AND IS PUTTING AROUND THE 700 HP OUT OF IT. HE ALSO SAID SOMETHING ABOUT SWITCHING THE DELIVERY VALVES IN MINE , BUT FIRST I THINK WE MAY TRY A FUEL SYSTEM FLUSH ON IT SINCE IT SAT FOR 5 YEARS BEFORE I GOT IT LAST SUMMER. I ALSO OVERHAULED THIS ENGINE LAST FALL AND ONLY HAVE ABOUT 15 TO 18 THOUSAND MILES ON IT SINCE. MAYBE IT'S JUST TIGHT YET. ANY WAY I THINK I 'LL PROBBABLY TRY YOUR ADVICE WITH THE FUEL PLATE AFTER I PUT A FEW MORE MILES ON IT. THANKS FOR THE TIPS I"LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT WORKS OUT WHEN I GET AROUND TO DOING IT.
  18. THEY HOLD A LARGE VOLUME OF OIL. WHEN I CHANGE OIL IN MY 450 HP E9 IT TAKES ABOUT 14 GALLONS I THINK THE BOOK SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT 56 LITERS I BUY MY OIL IN 5 GALLON PAILS SO AFTER I POUR IN 1 GALLON OF LUCAS OIL STABILIZER THEN OUT OF THREE 5 GALLON PAILS OF OIL I FILL 2 GALLON JUGS WHEN I AM DONE SO IT MUST BE ABOUT 14 GALLONS GIVE OR TAKE. THE ADD TO FULL MARKS ON THE DIPSTICK ARE ONLY ABOUT A COUPLE OF QUARTS APART ON MINE. DID YOU AQUIRE YOUR E9 RECENTLY? WHAT YEAR IS IT?
  19. WHY WON'T MACK SELL YOU A TURBO OVER THERE? YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET SOMEBODY TO REBUILD IT FOR YOU. MACK STILL SELLS E9s FOR INDUSTRIAL AND MILITARY USE. THEY POWER ARMY TANKS WITH THEM. I THINK AVAILABILITY OF PARTS DEPENDS ON HOW GOOD OF A DEALER YOU HAVE.
  20. I HAVE 3 E9s AND THEY ALL HAVE 12VOLT STARTERS THEY SEEM TO TURN THEM JUST FINE. THE ONLY PROBLEM I EVER HAD WAS WITH MY 92 MH613 THE CHARGING SYSTEM WAS 24VOLT ON IT, AND IT WOULD ONLY CHARGE THE LEFT SIDE BATTERIES. SO I CHANGED THE CHARGING SYSTEM OVER TO 12 VOLT. IT SEEMS TO WORK ALRIGHT SO FAR. AS FAR AS I KNOW A 12 VOLT STARTER IS PRETTY MUCH STANDARD ON AN E9. WHAT KIND OF STARTER HAVE YOU BEEN USING?
  21. I HAVE A 92 MH613 WITH A 450 E9 V8 . IT HAS THE NEWER STYLE BOSCH P7100 SERIES INJECTION PUMP. IT SEEMS A LITTLE BIT LAZY FOR WHAT IT IS. I THINK IT HAS BEEN CUT BACK FOR THE EMISSION STANDARDS HERE IN ONTARIO. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A SIMPLE WAY I CAN TURN UP THE HORSEPOWER ?
