  1. Only thing I really want to do now with mine well a few things are put a more stought trans in mine. Like a 2 stick 6 but want something with a few more gears. My dad us going to be pulling a trailer and the 5 speed sucks. Hell put any kind of weight in there and take off going over an overpass and you really got to wind it out and it lugs down alot more before getting back into the power curve. Mine really starts building power at about 1900 or so. But being a 4x4 single cab I figure i need something longer to set it up how I want. Also I would like to get a banks system or go to cummins. Hell any high power diesel place which in South Fl we got a ton of. Looking to get better fuel mileage along with dragging the trailer with more ease.
  2. Out of curiousity whats so special about the pre 94 12 valve? I have the 98 12 valve. Probably one of the last ones built. I know they went to the 24 in 98
  3. Like I said you usually need damn near a tree. I have seen Keen put the wood down and drive up to get the clearence. Usually just alot of wood. I've never pulled one but I have beamed real wide stuff off my trailer. It takes a bit to get used to but it rides so much better. On load and put wood under the tracks and drive it off. I've seen them done alot of ways. I just choose not to flat spot my tires
  4. Did they use to be in South Fl. We have or had Brothers transpot back home. Had a bunch of Black Petes,Kw's,I think a shaker or 2
  5. Oh yeah lock the power divider in to make sure the wheel spin doesn't stop you. If I do something stupid or crazy I got them locked in to attempt to keep moving.
  6. remember this. you will not have the ground clearance you had with the dump wagon. You will look at humps, scales, fuel islands, entrances, and last but not least railroad tracks in a whole new light. Remember when in doubt grab another gear. Good luck.
  7. I have been seriously contemplating a beam. But you need a damn tree to load alot of stuff. My main reason is to get atleast 5k lighter. Get my height down. and stablize most loads. Like rubber tired stuff. Unless you block it it is an act of congress to get them to quit bouncing. Broken a few chains and binders from that. Eyeing a ground bearing. Idk whats worse the mechanical or the ground bearing trailer.
  8. Probably not the right topic. Was west bound on 90 this evening was just topping the hill Don't remember if I was in Ny or still in Mass but caught out of the corner of my eye a Mack rock bucket pulling a tag trailer with a Mack Fire apparatus. Looked somewhat stripped down. Of course I couldn't get my phone in time to get the camera as they where going the opposite side and I needed to get to Maybrook in the time I had left for the day. I wonder If it is a member here. Thinking it looked like an Lt might of been an A. Or I could of been way off
  9. Sorry to hear about the wheel problem. You lucked out there that it happened where and when it did. That could of been real bad real fast
  10. Man you can keep that mechanical detatch. Pulled one for about 2 weeks. It will be a cold day in hell before I ever pull another one. But they are great for crane load stuff
  11. Great pics. You did a hell of a job on them
  12. Well we will be there in tomorrow hopefully noonish. Harbour creek now. Not bad from Walcott
  13. Idk what possesed me to go there but will be in the area Friday afternoon and getting the hell out of dodge quickly after that. Hopefully this will be uneventful
  14. I have to agree between both long levers I would say power shift is not even an option.
  15. Is it a single drive with a tag/pusher? It always makes it easy when it goes smoothly and everything goes according to plan
  16. Yeah that is a dinosaur. I miss the 1 we had. Had the side lever for the blade. I think it would out push the 5B.
  17. If your gonna try the twin boxes you might as well go with the bigger axle. What I did on my Pete was put a 23k axle under it. Went to Pete gave them my vin,and the axle number. Paid them 100 or so for it to go to engineering and they came back with the exact parts. Boxes, springs, and all linkage. I am sure Mack will do the same.
  18. I think part of the problem they have is they got wide bunks why not make the axles the same width. That would stablize it out out tremendously
  19. I just can't see how they lay over so many trucks. Geeze I think they need to hire better drivers or just get out of it all together and get independents hauling there stuff
  20. Ch was more the road tractor and not really a severe service truck. Such as not having the heavy Axles for off road. Where the Cl is a severe service unit. Bigger axles and and configurations
  21. Yeah not only secure making sure everything was compatible. I never cared to do Hz. I got a big enough target when I put my oversize banners on.
