  1. Mine has 3.55's i don't do any off road anymore since I quit being an operator. 99% of my driving is all highway. thinking about gearing it 3.73,or 4.10 and put a gearvendor behind it. but on the good side if I take it easy. and not run real hard I have gotten over 600 miles out of the tank. 36 gallon

  4. got a 98 with a 5 speed. identical to that except mine is gray. Runs like a raped ape and even though it is geared high it pulls good when I needed to pull something.
  5. Good save.
  6. Not knocking you but just shut the switch off when not in use.Idk how true it is but heard it is not good to be left on all the time. I even shut them off when not in use on electronic engines.once you get into the routine it doesn't take much time.
  7. I rode in a Dm that had a jake my dad let the clutch out and it stalled with the switch on. Idk just every mechanical engine I ever drove or rode in if you did not shut the switch off or break some kinda of contact it would die.
  8. Idk about Macks but on the mechanical cats I drove they do not shut down automatically. you either got to put alittle pressure on the clutch to break any circuit. give it a touch of throttle or shut the switch off. They are not like electronics
  9. I misunderstood you. I thought you meant local municipality. likethe LEO. Not the Locale
  10. I know it was atleast 1 or 2 Dm's,1 R,A cornbinder,Crane Carrier, and an Autocar. Learned to drive on the binder and A car. Taught myself the 6 Speed, and quad
  11. Going on equipment Locale doesn't matter on tint. Cage wouldn't be a bad idea but if your using a ramp trailer instead of a lowboy you may get into height issuses if it is over the boom. If your smacking the cab with a bunch of trees the cage will make a difference. I would tint the right side window, half the front and you can also get a clear film that blocks out more heat and uv then a dark film.or you can also take the top window out and put a rv fan in there to let the heat out and that will let you go with the smaller a/c as it will not have to work as hard.you could also mount the unit behind the cab since unless something is taller then the machine you'll never see behind the machine.that will keep the height problems down.
  12. Reminds me of me riding with my dad. How I got started.
  13. about 7 years ago when i first got into Heavy Haul and was still a company driver. Was in Licoln,Al and dumped the clutch on an 89 t6 with a 435 cat. It tarted spinning backwards. Caught me off gaurd and was able to catch it once I figured what had happened. Was an oh crap moment for sure

  15. I am in agreeance on this one. Everything I have run from Endumps, escavators, and loaders I never noticed the power loss. you forget to get gas or diesel for the n and your gonna have a rough day. But I will say this Everything I have been in with a redot in it would freeze you out. 10k btu is more then enough. or you can get a bigger unit. I feel your pain on the no a/c. Although on the excavator I ran not having a/ wasn't to terrible. But the D30D end dump sitting right next to that motor in the Fl summers sucked. YOu didn't have enough windows to open.
  16. Thats not entirely true. I know alot of AA&e haulers. If the drom was trailer mounted some stuff was a no no. Others could haul different stuff that could not be mixed. But when they pay that good. 1 pallet separated from another is a good load. I can only get bits and piees as of the security nature but you can do multi explosives with load on trailer and load in drom. And those droms are specialty built. Also the main purpose was hazmat compatibility rules. Other wise they where not needed.
  17. I don't know exactly how big the 5th wheel on mine is But I know it has the 2 locks on it. with all kinds of slide.
  18. I would take a 70. This 63" sucks. I know they are not factory. but what I have seen is to small. Hell the 86" on a kw done up right has all kinds of room. Even the 74 or what ever Western Stars have. More then Likely whatever I get is going to be a day cab with a big bunk put on the back. Or a order a 70 or something that is gutted and put the same size back on from Ict or Ari with a shower, and just more living room.
  19. What I have now I bought when I just got started and it tentatively fit my needs but has been modified.this is a factory 4 axle not a stretched road conversion also it is double framed. The factory steer has long since been removed. And replaced with a 23k steer. Also gone thru the factory to get re certified. The bunk sucks but When I started it was just me and the dog. The 46 rears are holding up pretty good.the 2 speed gear ratio is great. But got a lead on doing tower sections and I think they will be to light, And don't want to tear something up. It does have the 18 series drive line. Motor wise I have no complaints. Trans wise I would like a few more gears. I do have an 18 but would like a 4 speed aux behind it to get real low or cruise at low rpms empty. I know what I want in a truck and next one is going to be spec'd that way if I can get one new. I am not going to get a redone star car the shaker redid. It would either be a 357,389, Or a wide hood T800. I know Titans aren't cheap. Then again what truck is. I do alot of oil field, jobsites, and Mines. my road time is 90 to 95 % but when I go off road I go places the road guys are scared of, Without fear of OMG you want me where or this truck does not go off road. If I wanted that I would pull a box. I originally wanted a Mack, they had there own priorities on what they wanted to sell. Also had a problem with people wanting to deal.Bought what I had to to start out. But it had the motor,Trans, and rears I wanted. My biggest thing is the sleeper size. I need a workhorse not a beauty queen, And if Mack can't or won't build it someone will. Don't take this as knocking Mack I grew up around them and been around them for a long time. But had to do what I had to do when I started out
  20. Welcome to the Jungle. You came to the right place for the help and I am sure you'll get an answer soon
  21. But here lies the problem. I can go out and buy a road tractor and turn them over ever 3 years because they can't handle the work. Or go and buy a factory Severe service. Now mind you It may not hold up like a Mack or it might. But if Mack can't build anything close to what I need or want then I have to go elsewhere. While you may not like the look of the big house on a road truck. When you are in this day in and day out with 2 people and a dog it gets close real quick. I like the option of being able to sit in the back looking for loads rather then with the comp on the wheel looking. More then likely I'd get a long wheel base daycab and put a big bunk on it, Or go with a different manufacturer. But it will be full dbl frame with 58k planetary rears with full lock up on 52k Air ride. Maybe even tri drive. What ever I get will be big as I am looking at getting into wind stuff and I do not know how my 46's will hold up even with 2 speed rears. I like the look of the Titan and would like to get one. But it needs to fit my needs or it will never leave the dealer. There are also more then just local runners looking for a severe truck I just need a sleeper that is bigger then a coffin
  22. She has been in the truck for better then 2 years with me. gets interesting from time to time and we doo 99% of our cooking in the truck. When the gen runs we do alot more cooking and have the ac running. Na she treats me good I have no complaints
  23. I' looking at something along the lines of a 100 to 110" sleeper maybe a hair bigger and around 300" wb. or under just longer then 294" I live in this for 1 to 4 months at a time and let me tell you this 63" bunk, house fridge,me,momma, the dog and everything we can stuff in it has got to go. Really like the titan but not looking forward to having to go to Ict and spending that kind of money for a big house
  24. I agree on that. If I am going to go for the aftermarket look.,might as well go aftermarket. so far the only big bunk I have seen is aftermarket. Are they doing any big bunks on them? That little 36" has got to go. Hell me and the dog couldn't even fit in that.
  25. When I was at landstar besides our load board they had Landstarbroker.com. I do not know if it is a pay site. Internettruckstop.com. probally more
