  1. Since the truck is wired for Cat could go attempt to find a pre emission Cat I know dirty word. I have a 5DS 15.8 Liter factory 600. it has had it's problems inframed it when we did the head gasket then broke the crank 2 years later. When it runs good it is an animal. It rarely runs bad. Could look for a 6NZ or 3406C model. With my gearing I am averaging this trip from North Carolina to Portland Oregon 4.9 Mpg at 65 mph grossing 118konly had 1 fill up at 4.1. With you doing pneumatics and let's say 3.73 gearing with an 18 you could get over 5 probably 6. I have had really good luck with the 5DS. Also heard it is a rare motor. when dialed in it is a smooth running engine that is a power house. treated right will get better mileage then any accert ever thought about getting down hill with the wind pushing
  2. Good luck in the new adventure. and make sure your weights are good if you cross any Il scales. Those bastards don't play and it is pay on the spot. Heavy haul following distance has a whole new meaning. It is fun an adventure and pace yourself esp with the heat. It is a killer.
  3. you sir are correct. I did remember seeing the bike. and it was an Autocar.
  4. oh trust me I hate borrowing money from them or anybody. when the trans went I had to get 6500 from them sucked is what it did. Then when I broke the crank I had 10k got most from my mom and had to get 5500 from the company. Or park the Pete and was looking at a Cl which this would of been back on the road and working but now I would of had 2 trucks and hopefully another driver. Or more grey hair and higher bp.
  5. I am not going to say a word. Been lucky to either limp home 1200 miles or get it done on the road. just a dumb question. I know here at Greentree if we need some help they will help to a certain point. Would your company loan you the extra needed to do what you want and then they can deduct 100,200,300,5% whatever either every week or so much per load. I have them do 10% every load when I needed help. but the Beast has been self sustaining for the most part lately and only needed dads help for 2 more tires I didn't have in the cards till after the load was done. 1 allen wrench later and that got me the 2 that day not later that week.
  6. Seen the Pete Cabover with the big camper sleeper on it going East on 80 today pulling a step with something old on it. Bunch of old Iron going east. Even seen the B that I told Jay about sold oand on a trailer east. was walking the dog seen three trucks east bound 1 with a bunch of Mack cabs and parts, the rest either hauling old iron and 1 single axle make unknown looked burgandy pulling a trailer behind it.
  7. Congrats Evil 1. I am slowing working on it. been walking up till my back decided to give me a hard time. Gonna get back to it tomorrow after we shut down. Pants where feeling alittle looser but feel tight again. keep up the good work.
  8. I thought only little boys wear bowties Lmao I kill me. Big improvement. I saw a Ford a couple of days ago had a Peterbilt emblem in place of the Ford logo.
  9. Hmm thinking for most tandems should be like a 96" swing clearance or less. about a 8' neck. mine goes from 105 to 125" swing and is perfect for a triaxle. what are you hauling?
  10. try pdi,pittsburgh power,antrim diesel.
  11. it has a new cooler and if the pump is in the trans it was a complete reman. i am going to take the radiator/condensor of the old apu with the fan and make it a trans cooler. put a 200 or close thermostat on it and put it somewhere. I can still pull long grades but if I really put it down it will start hitting 250 and creep up. if i take it easy it still hits 240 to 250 but it will stay there. out of the 600 Cat i am putting 554 down. Looking to get either a box from Bully Dog,Pittsburgh power , or Pdi. Also even though I got a new turbo I want this waste gated thing off.
  12. i would of liked the 22 but was told the 20 was the biggest damn pricks. If this pos reman does die I will hunt a 22 down. or get another 20 that is apart and send it to one of the highpower diesel shops and let them go thru it and build it to like 24 or 2600fpt. also next time doing the shift tower. This trans has just never been right and was told it is normal. my old wore out trans didn't run over 200 unless I was pulling across 68 running hard. this thing looks at a hill and gets to 240 or better and not even working it hard. Been that way since it was installed.
  13. They should . haven't been there in a year or 2 until we met up. Always got trucks there and what are the neighbors all bent out of shape for? There is 1 concrete company there, and some other businesses there. Would be a good place since it is south of Ft. Pierce. They got alot of property there.
  14. you got that right my RTLO20918B well in Co replaced they wanted 11k. Did it over at Robs and trans, driveline and yokes 6500. i have never been impressed with the new trans,It has shifted funcky as hell, hard shifting sometimes. I miss my old wore out box. It also ran cooler. Just waiting for it to die again or drop it and do another clutch and open it up to see how bad it looks inside. If I could find a bigger 18 I would probably get it. But was told at the time last year the 20918 was it.
  15. not in one turn probably. would make for one hell of a picture though
  16. like clock work my a/c took another dump. not going to fix it. Well not factory. looking into putting a reddot unit on. factory air in the truck sucked and times it just never cooled right. when we get home next month if I do not fix it I am thinking of leaving the dog home for the first time in 8 years. To hot for him in the truck. But we are sleeping in motels at night for the most part unless we are lucky enough to have temps in the 50's at night and sleep in the truck.
  17. hell let me loose with my combo up there and lets see how long it takes before I need a wrecker to lift the trailer lol. That picture is Sweet.
  18. i thought the 15 was a 10 speed with a deep reduction like an 8ll. Not something to split in low like a different 13 speed. 1 I drove had DR and could not be split. learn something new
  19. That my friend is trucking. Sometimes you get lucky and compensated other times your just plain s.o.l.
  20. It is great meeting other members. Met up with a few myself. No complaints here.
  21. wouldn't hurt to pull the oil cap off and see if the nut is hand tight. may want to just check the torque on them. 2 quarts of hub oil is cheaper then pulling out your hair on the vibrations. Gonn retorqe mine when we get to the house and check some on the trailer got some wheels wearing odd that I want stopped
  22. hell i'm 52k on 7axles empty and 57 on 8 with everything on the trailer 55k minus the stinger. Legal loads for me are crap
  23. cool pics. Saw something on History about Mt.Washington think they have a Cat up there. Can't imagine pulling that in a tractor let alone a dump. Had to be a long slow pull
