  1. Idk much about the walking beam but the Camelback is a better suspension. more articulation. if articulation isn't an issuse then I would think the walking beam would work. Bottom line is this what does your pocket book say. 10 speeds are alright I like the 8ll for the deep reduction but both are great transmissions.
  2. Welcome to the jungle. I would say the 96 Rd. what else are the specs. What gear ratio, and axle size? 38k,44k. Last time I took a truck to the port was a Brand new international. This thing was built esp for one of the mines. had 58k rears and a 23k steer. It was also a tractor. Idk the ratio or the horsepower but if memory serves it had an 8LL. Was surprised when I opened the door and the steering wheel was on the right side. Knowing the weights you guys pull down there and also the roads I would look for nothing smaller then 44k rears, Good luck and hope it helped.
  3. um getting alittle outside my guesses.Could the hood be moving as the cab moves? I get alot of thunks in my Pete. Alot i have written off others I hunt down. Rubber pad on the back of the cab that the hood comes off and the cab moves it will thunk like crazy.
  4. There any freeplay when you take off or slow down? is it from the driveline area, front? Whats the shifter feel like? Vibrating like crazy or very minimul?
  5. Glad your ok. Seen a small buck today coming out of Dubuque heading towards Davenport. He was in a field and walking towards the road.
  6. Man that sucks. I will not under any circumstances top my tanks off at night. Or will top them and move on down to the next truck stop. Only time I get fuel at night is just enough to idle through the night. I don't even park the truck at my house full of fuel.
  7. Was looking for you yesterday when I rolled up 77. Friggen mountains suck when your in a hurry.
  8. Well hell man. We just come thru there Wednesday night. I hope you get it fixed though
  9. While this is true for the most part I have driven some that the rpms just lingered for a bit and when you got it down to shift you damn near lug it. Each truck is different and it just takes practice. i can short shift this or I drag it out. Terrain plays a big difference in how I shift.
  10. Trial and error. try from 1500 upwards. You'll find the rythm and groove
  11. Idk I really never watched the graders from cat till the joystick controls came out. Hell never really followed much of anything since we sold our equipment. Only time I see something nw is I haul it or see it out

  17. I would make sure you do it right. when you dump there is alot of weight on the hinges getting supported till all the dirt comes out.
