  1. Glad to hear you faired well
  2. All i can say is good luck on that trip. Dot your I's Cross your T's and make sure the trailer is road worthy before the trek back.
  3. It was pretty good. I couldn't shift the bastard past first. Was I think 6 or 7 at the time. It would run about 63 if memory serves me right. had 44k rears on camelback. Might of been a umodel either way it was a leaner. Had a Ford that would eat him up off the line but when he got that ole Mack wound up he could catch him.
  4. First truck I rode in was a B unknown model. then my Dad got his R model. unfortunatley it was a pos. 237, 6speed but it had a road trans and not made for a dump. unknown rears but it was not a dump. It would fly. but it was forever breaking down then someone else wanted it more then my dad did. first truck I drove by myself was a cornbinder triaxle dump 290 cummins and a 10 speed road ranger, Drove an Autocar conversion of mixed parts was an old block truck shortened and was used on site till 595 was finished then sold to my dad. 335 cummins and a 13 speed. drove I think it was a dm had a scania and a 13 speed. Then when i was an equipment operator i would trade my dozer with one of the drivers to go dump DM 237 2 stick 6. Went to work for Commercail Carrier Corp out of Aubundale,Fl and had a Ch613 unknown motor never looked at the tag probably a 300 with a 5 speed. They also had a few single stick 6 speeds. i liked them alot more. The 5 speed really impressed me with the torque. other then that Robs b model and R model are the only other Macks I have driven.
  5. Yes Lanstsar is requireing all new leases to have Eobr's installed. There saftey rating is down in the basement. I still know alot of people there from the 7 years I was there.I think Mercer is also.
  6. First let me say welcome to the jungle. Now back to the story at hand. The pickings are getting slimer and slimer on companies that will lease on older trucks. I know Landstar does or did, but I don't suggest them. What are you looking to do? Is the truck a daycab or sleeper? how far are you wanting to go? Do you want to be home everynight or every other? Do you want to pick and choose your own loads or be forced dispatch? you could check this out. http://www.hiringowneroperators.com/South-Carolina-Jobs.html also something you might want to look into is doing Power onlies/towaways not containers although when your not leased to anyone they do pay good. I have a friend that all he does is power onlies and he makes more doing that then with his trailer. Tow away express Powersource and a few others. Good luck
  7. If you want to see what hell a tractor conversion goes thru go to Miami. rears are generally lighter,Driveshafts are lighter. If you not hauling heavy and not going offroad it might hold up. generally don't
  8. Tom I understand what your doing, i think i would go with the bigger trailer. Heres why. Loading anything over the back of that with anykind of weight it gonna bend the hell out of it with the axles that far forward. your mainly going to do vehicles and I don't think you'll have a weight problem. hell with the right tires on a spread axle you can go 40k on the spread vs 34k. And this may be an option. you can get a pin on axle for the truck to make it a tandem and I think it may be liftable. Makes you a tandem with out the drive. Downfall you may get hung up easier. If your just doing vehicles, and an occasional all terrain lift that should be alright. Just my 2 cents.
  9. Congrats on the newest Mack fan
  10. Idk the brand off hand but you could contact them and see when they get rid of them and see if they sell to the public. Or where they trade them in. Might find them at auctions
  11. Seen that on Facebook. didn't think it was you. Not bad
  12. I really like Busch's polish. I've tried alot when I would do them myself and Busch really kicked ass.
  13. Idk I kinda like that show when weather changed history. It's interesting. Other then that I think the rest of there shows got to go
  14. Ok well some good questions. First off I would say if you hit a bridge "THAT IS THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER NOT THE COMPANY" You should of known the height of your equipment prior to moving. and know your route. As to the second question since I have never driven an automatic I can't awnser. But I would think with the brakes on and in gear it should not roll. good luck but it goes like this saftey is the drivers responsibility.
  15. that show is a joke don't think I finished the first episode
