  1. Listen to Rob. They are a pita if not used all the time. Very,Very finiky if tires are not matched like changing one axle before the other. they will let you know. Like to take the ones in mine out
  2. Heres some food for thought. Gear it as high as you can get it. In Mack carriers idk if you can get much past 3:87's. put a direct drive trans as the Od will make it work harder. you can keep the rpm's lower if you keep the speeds around 58 to 60 or since your mostly bobtailing with it 62. keeps the rpms around 13 to 1400. Now with the older motors I know they like to run in the higher ranges. Alot of people trying for the optimum fuel mileage are going to 3.23's and 2.90's but not using the last 2 gears in the 18 speed. seems to be a waste of a trans. Doing that they keep it in Direct,Keep it lower rpms, and get fuel ,mileage.
  3. 17' And never again on the East coast. Takes damn near a month to get permits. and it will pay a hell of alot better then that fiasco.
  4. Have the Groendyke trucks already started or getting ready to be built. Heard they ordered something like 170 Macks
  5. Idk I figure they planned that move better then that. Probably waiting on permits for what ever reason. Now got all the Police and probably utilities. Shut towns down and lets ride. Did a 17' wide a couple of years ago and came into 1 town while they still had a marathon going. had to shut down and wait then ended up chasing the last runner. Sucked almost cost us the day waiting on that fiasco.
  6. Lol. Idk what will happen. It might jump out say wtf am I doing there or the truck will have heart failure.
  7. That Crackerbox ought to be a handful as is. The Pete isn't bad looking
  8. I'll measure mine if you have no use for it what do you want for it?
  9. Sounds like what I have in this to. somthing like 2" caps. if so it is 1810 or 18series. Damn driveshaft weighs a ton. What kind of shape is the big one in?
  10. Not a bad looking shaker. Like the long Wb. I don't care what make they are I like seeing older trucks still earning there keep.
  11. We never left the lot to go inside.I kept heading him off at the pass
  12. We all have them from time to time. just well probably a month or 2 ago maybe 3. something I do on occaision is separate the axle from the spreader bar. Idk what I was thinking I took the top pins out and as I watched it roll back I realized hey the damn lines are still hooked. so a couple of brass fittings later and reconnect the plug to the wires so I had brake and turn signals. I felt like a jackass. Shit happens he just got lucky
  13. Glad to meet you today. Just got to say I feel your pain on the wheel rubbage in the B model. Almost looked like Yogi getting out of the jeep. I'll hit you up next time we are through there and go drool over your collection of Macks
  14. Not bad looking. alittle to short for my taste but cool none the less
  15. As stated on Fb Glad your alright
  16. It's funny they go with the joystick controls on the bigger machines but leave the steering wheel on the smaller ones. I wonder why?
  17. I got a pre Acert and love it. Actually got get this 6 MPG last week at 65 mph. That is the best this thing has ever got. I had a legal load was a military truck and was surprised esp with the speed coming out of Arkansas and unloading in Ohio. Load before that was wide, heavy, but got 5. Better then I normally am
  18. Well it isn't quite the 2nd home like Texas is but we have been running alot in and out of Dundalk
  19. You pick up in Dundalk?
  20. Had a spot we unloaded a 450 dozer and took it off the side right in between 2 cars. then I had an old 450 track loader that hit the horns on the front. Of course loaded funny and then it rained like hell in houston and was not gonna go slide off the trailer. got it to the front, put some wood down and over the side I went. Got strange looks but was easier that way. But nothing over 10k lbs
  21. My problem or lack of was I grew up around trucks. Mainly dumps of all makes and models and the people that moved our equipment. I had quite the diversity. rode in and drove a Pete on site and that was it for me. Funny how 28 years later and I want a Mack. I wouldn't trade my Pete for anything. Those where the cards I was delt with and thats what I bought. When my dad got out of the business I got into operating equip when I got out of highschool. Of course I had the bug and wanted to drive since I was knee high to a grass hopper. Wanted to drag a skateboard around. Drove a wrecker for a bit then moved into there Tractor. Left there went to drag a cement tank around and screw that and Vans. Long story short got a friend of mine may he rest in piece that worked with another Fire Fighter and he owned 2 trucks 1 being a lowboy and I never looked back. Bought mine in 07 and still going. May not be as strong as I like but still here when others have fallen
