  1. I agree AZB, traps, lots of traps, and ditto on the peanut butter too. If the truck is in cold storage, they won't rot too quick if you get lazy about checking the traps.
  2. Fresh Cab failed for me too. although I found the aroma pleasant enough.
  3. I'll save Trent the trouble, but here's what he wrote to me about the subject. . . I prepped the cabs metal interior with 3M rubberized paint. I did the doors,roof,wall, firewall and floor. Then went back and added dynamatt to the same areas. I even used up some roofing ashphalt sheets that a friend had left over. Its a little cheaper than dynamatt and has nearly the same sound deadning properties...I added some thicker home style fiberglass insulation to the rear wall corners to fill up any air space between the steel and interior wall panel. I was told that anywhere noise can bounce between 2 parts of steel it will act like a sub woofer. So I used thick insulation on the rear wall under the window and in the corners. For the floor I put down a rubber backed carpet over the dynamatt. I putt dynamatt on both sides of the door panels and inside the door shell, again going as thick as I could to fill up the air space best I could. Roof,floor and firewall all had 2 layers of dynamatt. I never did reinstall the interior firewall Matt that Mack installed from the factory as I'm still doing stuff there... I think it made a big difference in sound. It will not be as quiet as today's new trucks but it took out all the vibration noise and did cut down on noise levels. I should mention my truck has the Mack western interior panels that is a little thicker than the east coast panels. It was worth it. Even with my straight stacks mounted to the cab I dont hear the vibration. If I was to do it again I would just use the asphalt roofing meterials as its 1/3 the price and I hear that's what a lot of DIY car audio guys use to control vibrations as well?

  5. All true on my end, although the trucking I pay for hasn't reduced their rates, and I don't expect them to be raised when fuel eventually rebounds. Fertilizer is petroleum based and those prices are down too, which is good. But,..... Commodities are down, way down from 2014 levels. The volatility in commodities is not precisely linked to the crude, but more closely related to demand which has fallen off. (Russian embargo, the decline in Chinese imports, etc.) not to mention that farmers are their own worst enemy and produce way too much when times were good, creating a surplus (also creating a lot of young farmers eager to become indebted in order to produce more, not recognizing that by the time first payment came due on their new combine, the 'fat times' had already passed). Labor is still expensive (no surprise there) and so is electricity. These two components make up the largest portion of my operation's expense, so while crude being down helps, I'd happily pay more if it meant that commodities were back to 2013-14 levels Farming is its own 'thing'. Introductory college economics courses usually devote an entire chapter to what is referred to as "The Farm Problem" therefore my explanation should be considered a perfunctory one. Food seems to be tied to inflation, more so than to the profitability of those producing it. If I had a nickel for overtime some farmer said "Boy milk is down, but its not down in the store!!!" . . .reflecting the crooked nature of middle-men who wouldn't recognize the South-end of a North-bound cow.
  6. One answer I can give: The demand for oil is coupled to growth in manufacturing. A low demand puts down pressure on price, which is good for folks at the pump, and heating your house, but it indicates a sluggish economy.

  9. My fenders are the same style. Would a 4x4 (3.5) fit between tire and fender without a load? You're running tall rubber? Have you had any interference with the trailer?
  10. All great points that I have considered. I can fit a 4x4 (3.5x3.5) between the stop and the axle housing.... But they do look kinda high... PLUS like state if I ever went to tall rubber I'd be in trouble again.... I'm not real wild about how high they're going to need mounted. Lmackattack thanks for pic... any others???

  14. My buddy gave me a set of stainless half fenders and I'm gonna mount them on my Super. It has 38k rears on Camel back. I've never had a load on it and was curious what kind of gap you guys would recommend between the fenders and the tires. Its currently set up with lo-pro 24.5's. I just don't know how much I should expect that suspension to drop..... any suggestions?

  19. Well gentlemen, I got that ignorant rotten B-tch in yesterday. I ended up using a spray bottle with soapy water and a pry tool for working computer hardware. Thanks for the support/advice. Now all I have to do is put that key strip in, but thats going to have to wait until my bulging disc subsides.

  22. I was enjoying The Diesel Gypsy website and was thinking about his unpaved Canadian roads and was reminded of my last Western bike trip. Just outside Ten Sleep WY, no pavement for miles, no detour, no flaggers and yes you were welcome to jump over the berm and find your own way around. My lips blistered from the heat/sun that day.

  24. I know OP is talking CH, which would be a massive undertaking, but wouldn't a CL actually be the "way-to-go" for attempting a late model body swap? They share the same frame. . .
