I hate to hijack the post, but could you guys give a simple explanation of what importing trucks from Canada involves? Seeing as how you just did it, it should be fresh in your mind!

My vent is rusted thin right where the gasket seals, only on one corner. For all the more metal there is, I figured do it once and be done. I want to get this interior back IN. The rest of the vent is like new though $110 for the vent.... Think I could get away with gobbing some silly-cone instead? Thanks for posting the #'s..... I guess you've replaced one recently as well?

Yeah, now that I see what the new vent cost, I'm thinking I should've maybe done just that instead.

I had a 8v92 in a 359. It was a stock 475 hp. Schizophrenic engine. It would impress the hell out of me by complete surprise, lugging like a Mack when I was certain it was gonna fall on its face, and falling on its face when I had her wound up like a banjo string. 4.10's and a 13 speed. I felt the top side split was an utter waste of time with the 2 stroke. Old timer told me I should have hunted for a Spicer 14 or 16 speed. . . they're like hens teeth. My 2 cycle guru said the 8v92s were hell on the valvetrain. 71's and even the 6v92 didn't hammer the top-end nearly as bad... no real explanation given though.... Exhaust clamp got loose and rubbed a hole in the aluminum tank one day in suburban Pittsburgh and ran out of fuel. Sweated like a whore in church that day (Fuel all over the place, cops on the way etc etc..). It was a bitch getting her primed up. I think we took a piece of milk hose and attached it to fuel pump. Stood on top of engine with a funnel and force fed the bitch. When she caught, there was no let-up 'till I pulled the stop 50 miles later.... Sargent Trucking in Cuba, NY owns her now....... Good memories! Everyone knew when I was coming home!

I was more concerned with fit/sizing, and maybe to a lesser degree durability. Mine are so wiped out I didn't know what they 'should' have looked like or the dimensions. Its good to know they're the right thing.

You know, I just realized looking at this literature that my seal was installed "inside out". The filler strip was on the exterior.... Is the filler strip what you guys are referring to as a key?

Yes, I would say so. . . at least I think.... kinda hard for me to tell. I don't know how they're put together. Is there only one gasket?

Are they chronic leakers?

The headliner in my Superliner was damaged from a leaking roof vent. I am looking for any and all advice about how to go about stopping the leak. I am not a body man, and I don't want to create an expensive mess tearing into this thing. Gob some silicon around it? Replace gasket? Replace Vent? Any guidance/tips on the steps would be greatly appreciated. btw, it leaks pretty bad. Like this, ".... drip, drip, drip, ....." in today's steady rain.

Can you imagine burning cars like that today?
