  1. Bought a Superliner 1 that is 900 miles away. Runs and drives well, but leaks power steering fluid at the box seal. Leak's pretty bad. I want to drive it home, not the least bit worried about manual steering, but I don't want to do further damage by running it dry. Guy I bought it off of offered to fix it before I took off, but I want to source parts and any info for him I can beforehand. So, two questions. Will I do any damage by just driving it dry? Second, Can someone get me a parts list for that box? My local Mack shop can't find anything on it anymore. (Thank you Volvo)
  2. I just bought a Superliner 1, haven't got it home yet... but may be interested. These fit all Superliner 1's?
  3. What is the difference between the 375 and the 325? pump settings only????
  4. I've seen them around working hard yet too... I don't know why they had such a bad reputation.....
  5. Caption under photo translates into "Traksomex, compiled from several types models Mack"
  6. I always think of Hemingway's "Farewell to Arms" when I see WWI military trucks... That bronze grill surround certainly seems out of place on a military truck. Too good of a target.
  7. That isn't the first Superliner Traxsomex I've seen either... There is a photo of a blue one in a book I have.... I'd like to know the production #'s on them.
  8. I'm curious to know where "Rob" is????
  9. I've heard that they make good ramps....
  10. Anyone ever heard of these? Saw a photo of one in a book... Looked like a Superliner 1 with the brand "Traksomex" listed under it. http://www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=151&t=55277&start=15

  12. 300+'s weren't real common, is that right? I did a little reading on them, and they were somehow linked to California??? Emissions or something?
  13. Thanks for clearing that up Jim. The picture I posted claims to have a 300+ (Its been on Craigslist off and on) mated to a six speed. I thought those 300+'s were all mated with "multi-speed" transmission.....
  14. I've seen two air tubes AND a hood scoop! What's up with that???
  15. Thanks for the reply!
  16. why do Canadian Mack's have the stack behind the bunk? I also seem to notice that many Canadian R's were outfiited with Fuller trans. . . .???
  17. But how do the early ones compare with the later ones....? I only recently found out about these 1005 cu.in.... predecessor to the 998 cu.in.??
  18. I had posted a questions about the evolution of the E9.. haven't got much of a response. I was looking at a 1980 intercooled V8, but I am unfamiliar with the changes made with the V8's through the 80's and 90's. Would the 1980 V8 be a 'good' engine? The tags are missing on the valve cover. Any info would be much appreciated.
  19. Can someone here tell me about the evolution of the E9? Beyond horsepower settings and the "V" pump vs. inline pump. . . Were there any real variations or updates between the early 400's and the last 500's? I seem to recall that there were some head bolt updates, could be wrong... any info would be greatly appreciated. It had a 20 year run in road trucks (give or take), just curious if it was basically the same for all those years.
  20. Can anyone tell me the whys and hows of the hood scoop you'd see on some 70's and early 80's Macks? I've seen them on U's RW's and R's.... but they seem to be not too common... what's the deal there?
  21. I have been looking at buying an r model and was wondering about the steering box placement. Can anyone tell me why some have the box mounted at a quirky angle on the inner frame rail, and others have a more traditional looking box mounted on the outside of the frame rail?
  22. So, any turbocharged mack six can become a hi RPM multi speed engine with the AMERICAN BOSCH pump and the right turbo only?
  23. Unbelievable. Globalization in its worst form.
