  1. I would think it should have one on either side and the fat part goes to the back. Ron
  2. Larry, I don't see why that wouldn't work, I'd just make sure I'd use the newer fuel line that holds up to the ethanol that's in today gasoline. Ron
  3. Nice lookin' truck Better than new, doesn't have all the garbage on it! Ron
  4. Mike, I don't know what they were made of, didn't look like anything really all that special to me. Larry, My parts guy at the Mack distributor knows exactly what I am talking about and is trying to find the part # for them and if they are still available. I know this doesn't help you any, but before we closed our doors in 2010 and had our auction I could have driven about a mile and put my hands on probably 20 or 30 of them--I knew exactly which drawer they were in!! Ron
  5. Larry, Glad it worked out but they don't sound like the right rubber seals to me. The ones you're talking about sound like the small spherical shaped ones like they used between the heads on a 4 valve motor for the return line. They will probably work but they are not the ones I was talking about------the ones I was talking about are square cut and like I said look like pieces of 1/4" fuel line cut into 1/4"-5/16" length pieces. They also used to have either a green or red stripe on the side of them. I'll see if I can find a part # for them. Ron
  6. Great news Mike! Looking forward to seeing you and everybody else in Macungie as well! Ron
  7. I think that sounds like a good idea Ken That would look good! Ron
  8. Vlad I've had to use heat to take them apart. I was going to mention this before but I've used heat to put new ones together before too! Ron
  9. Looks good Ken! I think you should bring it to Macungie! Ron
  10. Larry I wouldn't think they'd be that hard to get from the Mack Co. but then again it's been longer ago than I realize. Originally they looked pieces of 1/4" I.D. rubber fuel line about 1/4" to 5/16" inches long. If you have no luck from the Mack Co. you could try making them yourself. Ron
  11. Believe it or not, at one time, there used to be two different valve covers used on these engines. I think the deal was, but I'm not sure, if the engine was put in a General Motors product the valve covers were stamped "General Motors Diesel". If it was installed in another application, as in a different truck or marine application the valve covers were stamped "Detroit Diesel" That's what someone told me at one time. I do know we had a '65 400 series Brockway with an 8V71 in it that had a "General Motors Diesel" in it. And all the later '68 400 series Brockways we had had 8V71 "Detroit Diesels" in them! So I'm not really sure whether that was the case and the '65 had a GM motor that slipped through our it had something to do with year? Ron
  12. Happy Birthday, hope you have a great day! Ron

  14. Larry, I believe he's talking about the rear spring hanger on the rear axle on a single axle. There's no bushing it's just a "slipper" hanger where the spring rides. It has a rebound pin in the hanger with a rubber sleeve around the pin which acts as a snubber. This is the pin he's trying to remove. Ron
  15. As long as it's a steel hanger you're better off trying to heat the hanger rather than the pin. heat expands cold contracts. Then try driving the pin out. I don't know whether the rubber sleeves are still available or not incase you would burn one up. But in my opinion they really aren't necessary anyway. Ron
  16. Just saw one for the first time tonight on Rte. 202 outside of West Chester, it had the KW badges on it! I wonder who's in charge of figuring out which ones have them and which ones don't? Ron
  17. Vlad, that is as everyone else has said, one beautiful job! I can't believe the attention to detail in your restoration, right done to the last nut and bolt! Can't wait to see the finished product! Ron
