Yeah Vinny - just stay cool man! You know your truck is OK, I know you would like to convince others, too, but that's no use. Let the people talk and use the energy on the rebuild - I wish you good luck on your project, have a nice day! Paweł

The Russians put only gasoline engines in their trucks for a long time - they figgered they could be serviced by people that can not read - you know, a gas engine will run if it gets electricity and fuel - cleaning a carburetor is easy compared to taking an injection pump apart (putting it together, actually!). Plus, a gas engine could be made to run on alcohol - that starts a wholly new subject in the apocalypse subject, doesn't it? Have a nice day Paweł

Cutting one axle offa that six by isn't as easy as it sounds - the axles themselves are good for that, as the shaft "goes through" each of them and the rears are interchangeable from what it looks like. But the suspension is a tandem, so you have to build a whole new rear suspension (it's even visible on the photo above). So - sound's like lots of work! But good luck anyhow! Paweł

Hello! There is a lot of info on military multifuels on the internet, try tpub.com and PS Magazine online first. The thing is those engines are Diesels, and they can be run on Diesel, jet fuel or even fuel for ships, but not gasoline. I'm pretty sure they would also run on plant oil or even animal fat after procesing (this is getting nasty!). If you are preparing for doomsday, mabe you should also move to some part of the world where the weather is good and there's nothing interesting to nuke? Good luck, have a nice day Paweł

Question: Fifth Wheel Setup?

Oh yeah! Those are very good reasons! Thanks for the answer - and have a nice day Paweł -
Question: Fifth Wheel Setup?
Pawel replied to Pawel's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
OK - I understand the option of loading the front axle - thanks a lot for the answers! But then it puzzles me - why would anybody then, move the fifth wheel to the rear again? Is it because of the semitrailer layout (front overhang - I don't think this is a likely reason)? Putting a fixed fifth wheel in the front-most position would save some weight, so I guess there must be some good reason for a sliding fifth wheel - what would it be? Thanks in advance for the answers, have a nice day Paweł -
Hello Morgan! I found this: http://hummer-hmmwv.tpub.com/TM-9-2815-237-34P/ while I was looking for references for my model. Hope it will help you, or maybe you can find better info in other docs on tpub.com. Good luck with your projects, have a nice day Paweł

Yeah, here in Europe we've got no conventionals, the cabovers rule. And the absolute majority of the tractors only have one drive axle - tandem drive is only installed on dumpers, concrete trucks and the heaviest haul tractors. The semi trailers are also much diffeerent than in the States - almost all of them have three axles equipped with single wheels. It's interesting how space available and regulations (like length limits) influence the design of the trucks. Have a nice day Paweł

Hello! After checking my books, rectifier converts AC into DC. Now a classic generator gives you DC, and an alternator, as the name suggests, gives you alternating current - AC. So it's important - do you have a generator or an alternator in your truck? I would very much like to see a photo of the part we're talking about, maybe then I could tell you more. Have a nice day! I also always wondered about the open - topped american fire trucks. Here in Europe we didn't have trucks like that, fire trucks had metal roofs even before WWII. As for the military trucks, the soft-top roof can be disassembled quickly to decrease the overall height of the truck, which in turn allows it to be loaded on board of a cargo aircraft - this is especially true in case of the 2,5 and 5 ton machines. With such a soft top, an installation of a machine gun ring is also easier. And if you have to park the trucks really tight, as for example on a ship deck, a soft top also allows you to access such a truck without opening the cab doors. Plus, I guess at some point in time a soft top was cheaper to build than a metal one - saves steel and weight. Have a nice day Paweł

Steve, Ray - Thanks a lot! Now I know more and can build a better model. I don't know if you're aware, gennulmen, but I'd say those are the first Mack Superliner sleeper mount photos on the internet! (I've been looking, but was unable to find any - now, thanks to you, they are there!). Steve, what kind of sleeper did you have on your truck? Was it that '84 Superliner it says on your description? And what engine dou you have in your truck? And I suppose in case of your mounts, Steve, there are four of them, are they all the same, or are two different than the other two? Ray, very interesting photos - I didn't know this big seeper had six mounts. In this case there's even more variation - the front ones are left and right, and the middle/rear are also two on the left and two on the right side - is that correct? Thanks again for your great help, now I'll try to build something - have a nice day Paweł
-
Well, now that would be great - I'm waiting! Have a nice day Paweł

Hello! I would like to ask 'nuther of my funny questions - what do the sleeper cab mounts look like on a Superliner? I'm building a scale model of one and can't seem to find that part on any photo or drawing. I would really appreciate some help here. Thanks a lot in advance, have a nice day Paweł

Belarus tractor and other random auction goodies
Pawel replied to Olivetroad's topic in Tractors and Equipment
Now that's a rare ocasion when we're talking about a machine I've actually seen :-)) The father of my ex-girlfriend owned one, with four wheel drive, and it was his "flagship". He told me the machine was tough, durable, and with parts and some experience you could do almost everything on that tractor by yourself. I even helped him to disassemble the gearbox once, we also serviced the generator and changed the motor head gasket on it. You could check out the Polish "Pronar" comapany for parts (http://www.pronar.pl/ENindex.html). They cooperate with the Belarussian factories. Hope it helps, have a nice day Paweł -
Olivetroad - roger that! Now I have to do the math to see what you guys really mean (I mean Celsius - that's REAL for me :-))). It's funny, but in Europe, at least in Poland and Germany the day was also extraordinarily beautiful fot this time of year. The nights however, are still cold. But the hope is in the air! Have a nice day Paweł

One thing is sure - morons are EVERYWHERE! Inside of every one of us, there's a little moron, jut waiting to pop out and do something stupid - if it never happened to you, you've been watching TV all of your life - very smart move! Have a nice day Paweł

I dunno, what's wrong with you men? This thread supposed to be about porn, and you concentrated on some wannabe? You really disappointed me :-))) Have a nice day Paweł

Painting stripes on a truck
Pawel replied to Pawel's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
Whiskymack - thanks a lot for your comment, and for your kind words. I don't log the hours on my builds, but I started building it some 18 months ago and I work on that model every seconnd day in average, for about three hours, if you want to do the math for yourself. Congratulations on your "Rubber Duck" - there was a kit of it once, but I heard it was practically no use, it was so grossly inaccurate. While I don't know the R-Series too well, your model looks right to me, the able body sleeper with one cutout also seems spot on, so my question - what kits, if any, did you use and what corrections did you have to make? Thanks again for dropping by, have a nice day and good luck with your next projects Pawel
